Seems broken, when i checked the genes they were tainted after death but they also had this mod name under them so im not sure but they had the tainted effects afterwards , using Better Genes if that helps, this mod is above in load order

did this break by any chance? took a gene splicer out of a guys head and it broke it, unless that was meant to happen, in which case ignore me

Still having genetics taint on death, but may be cause the genetics tainting are also modded ones? Im unsure if the mod accounts for that or not. Took them from my duffel bag and they were still tainted

Hey man. Combining genetics always has a chance to taint them, this mod is primarily just to save them for you on death. If people want it then I'm down to make it so it removes the chance to taint when combining. Though it would make the medic talent useless

Hello, for some reason I keep getting tainted genes by combining 2 genes. I think the recent update might have broken the mod?

They were on my body! I think the issue was I went and took the splicer from my corpse instead of letting it decay from a duffle bag! Super sorry for taking so long to respond IRL was busy busy!

I was running this mod with my friend and it didn't seem to stop the tainting on death, my Genes were still tainted when we died

also if a combined gene gets tainted on death it basically might as well be destroyed with how awful most of the tainted effects are. Sure we can remove taints now, but if I'm reading it right, it only works if I combine it with a 100% gene of a different type, so it shouldn't work on already combined genes. I'll also have to see how the supposedly easier to refine genes work, but it took quite a bit to get a gene to 100% before.

The taint genes on death mechanic for current base game is probably going to be annoying without a mod to fix it. Especially since at the end of a session we usually have some people log off while the rest of us do some sub housekeeping while connected to an outpost, and all the people who logged off end up dead from "brain death". I'm going to have to make them remove their splicer before they log off or something, instead of just letting them dip without having to worry about anything extra.

It's likely there'll be some compatibility issues, but give it a whirl on a fresh save as to not bug genetics on a campaign. If it doesn't work, or just breaks genetics, let me know and I'll see if I can throw together a compatibility patch for it

Took the opportunity to patch the issue the mod caused with combining. Genetics should work just like vanilla, just unbreakable now :steamhappy:

Heya man! I was stoked to see an update out for this, thanks for that! I think you may have published the update using the Workshop Mod version instead of your Local Mod version perhaps, cause the Hash broke on it.

Easy fix client side by removing the Hash line in localappdata, but I figured I'd let you know!

If I remember correctly, when you die your genetics should be left in your splicer in your body bag

Mod is ancient at this point and causes multiple bugs with combining genetics. Do not use this anymore.
