Change the title to "Player Cog skin" and I'll stop complaining.
Developers have said that "Player Cogs are NOT coming."
Of course I reported the malware to Discord Trust and Safety, but instead of removing the malware and the hackers that gave it to me, they removed my account instead.
Trust in Discord = 0
Safety on Discord? None
Having that program on your computer is like leaving the admin password to your open wifi router, posted on your front door with a giant neon sign hackers can see from orbit.
If you have Discord, then getting your computer hacked isn't a matter of "If", it's a matter of "When".
Discord is a threat to you, your family, your friends and your workplace. I refuse to get on it again until it's thoroughly cleaned out.
Alex was extremely rude, arrogant and bullying, declaring me "Not a part of this community" as well as "A big joke" despite me making multiple suggestions and comments right here on Steam.
Basically he was gatekeeping, saying "You're not a REAL member of the gaming community!"
Something I've never done.
A hypocrite is someone who says something is bad while doing that exact same thing to others. So I'm not being hypocritical since I've never gatekept.
And I'm not on Discord. It's a security threat, never to be trusted.
Leading antivirus provider Sophos and cybersecurity magazine Wired Magazine state that the Content Distribution Network is 98% malware.
I've been a victim of malware from that program, including Petya, denounced as "The scourge of the Internet" a few years back.
> @Dante - I came to "AI controlled PLAYER-ASSEMBLED cog". Perhaps you missed the "Player-assembled" part. Or perhaps you missed the part that said "Allied to the player".
Yes, I did miss that part, since it's nowhere in the title or description at all which was exactly my point. So again, my point is, nothing in the title or description mentions AI or automated cogs.
"Also, I agree. Why is this conversation still going on?" Because you're not stopping
"why'd you insult me" How did I insult you?
"ask me why I'm still here" Because I believe you're being hypocritical about Alex
"conversing with the rest of this game's community," If you want we can take it to discord DM's, WoofFighter#6963
"Except this isn't obvious at all. All it says is "Player Cog". Can't tell from that what kind of cog it means, only what side it's on." I'm not sure how much you're involved into the community, But if you ever took any part. did any suggestion or even comminicated with any of the more active members, devs or moderators you would know friendly AI cogs are not happening. at best maybe an mod. but an simple example mod for skins wouldnt be it
Except this isn't obvious at all. All it says is "Player Cog". Can't tell from that what kind of cog it means, only what side it's on.
A simple matter of adding the word "Skin" to the end of the title would have clarified everything.
Also, I agree. Why is this conversation still going on? Also, why'd you insult me, and ask me why I'm still here, conversing with the rest of this game's community, when I've been nothing but polite to you up until that point?
Except this isn't obvious at all. All it says is "Player Cog". Can't tell from that what kind of cog it means, only what side it's on.
A simple matter of adding the word "Skin" to the end of the title would have clarified everything.
Whether spawned through a spawning tube on the player's ship, or via being hacked by the player, or via any number of reasons. My original thought was that the player spawns/controls/works with the cog. As players have been wanting for years.
@Hugo and Dante - where in the title does it say anything about "skin"? Sure it says that in the description AFTER you click on it.
And about the difference between me and Alex, just to quote you, "Then why are YOU still here?"
I've never been nasty about anything, unless others have been nasty back. (Like Alex was.) I treat others the way I want to be treated. If they don't treat me nice, then I fire back.
Wait, what?
Of all the conclusions to draw from " Player Cog", you somehow come to " AI-controlled helper cog"?
> The entire title is misleading.
Ern, no. The title (and description) in no way implies anything AI related. It implies *player* control, not *AI* control.
> I'm angry that I was tricked.
It's not anyone's fault but your own for misinterpreting the title.
And about Alex, to just quote you: "Nobody with that kind of attitude should be interacting with the community." Then why are you still here?
The entire title is misleading.
Also, I'm not disappointed, I'm angry that I was tricked.
Also Captain, could you be so kind as to get Alex, your Co-Lead of Modding, to stop being so rude?
He came over to the suggestions page where I recommended deleting this mod and said the following, almost word-for-word:
"We know, we know, you're always right and everyone else's always wrong, but we won't be deleting this mod, or any mod unless it's obscene or violates the TOS."
"We like how you called this 'Our' community. Why don't you think about actually joining the community first? We though your comment was a big joke on the Discord."
He needs an attitude adjustment.
My suggestion? Disciplinary hearing to scare him straight, or better yet, a pink slip.
Nobody with that kind of attitude should be interacting with the community.
It looks that you have expected something else from this mod and that made you feel disappointed.
Altho friendly COG AI sounds cool, we unfortunately do not have capacity to create them at this state of production.
People (including myself) have wanted to use cogs as allied AI for a long time. It's a most-requested feature that they've rejected every time.
This feels like a slap in the face.
If you want gold and you're given iron pyrite (AKA fool's gold) then told "Here's your gold!" you're gonna feel like a fool, slighted and insulted when you go to authenticate it and your "gold" is fake.
You want something specific, and when you're given something that looks right but functions wrong, you feel like you've been slapped in the face or punched in the gut.
You've been had.
How is this mocking us?
We meant we wanted to reprogram the existing COGs to work on and around the drillship. It's one of the most-requested features.
This mockery of our requests is an affront to the community. If I see anyone using this mod in my games they will be shot on sight.
“Only enemy COGs out there, according to the developers. False friendly, shoot on sight.”
