Finally Built this one on my Server to one up my friend haha. Now I need to start filling with specialized CV's for inside and outside of it. I'm going keep this mostly at Stars as my mobile home base.

Thank you so much for building something so cool and big as this.

She's a big thirsty beast. Takes a fair amount of grinding for an SP survival game. Hardest part for me was affording the crew. Good layout and perfect for a vehicle hoarder. Don't have any aux cores yet so haven't been able to do any upgrades yet. Can't wait to get her fully operational with all the bells and whistles. I had been using the Aurora light carrier the last several updates but after using this space whale it would be hard to use anything lesser as my main base/transport.

Oh only now noticed besides the Flea, this was another ship I enjoyed by Ente! Despite it being a fps challenger, I think it actually is a very usable mobile base. It will not have a lot of gun power nor it will be a good defender without a shield as I noticed rear thrusters are one of the first to go. But that in mind, you can dock your battle cv on to this, unload any resources you may have, and then jump the HQ to another system for mining or for battles. Plus, if you play with friends and want to save on pentaxid then they can dock on to you and jump with you.

P.S. Ente, it would be amazing to watch videos or streams of you crafting these :)

Hah, yeah I've gotten used to 30FPS keeping it parked next to 20 faction CVs. Thank you for the insight!

I'm probably going to strip out one or two holes and insert tiny, 10-block CVs. Dock, remove thrusters, just use for teleport. Going from the upper bridge to the opposite side of the hangar or captains quarters takes a good 30 seconds.

Hopefully one day it will run more smoothly on gpu. And we'll be able to walk a moving ship :-)

The problem with bigger ships isn't so much the server limit in my opinion, it is the game client performance that at some point really starts to suffer. Doing modular ships does not help with that issue.
I do have a decent pc, but when I dock all the ships I use to the Hades I drop down to around 20-30 FPS.

If it (or the docked ships) were any more sizeclass it would really start to be more annoying than fun. As much as I would love to build a 475m long Supercarrier, If you did try to play with it and fill it with ships, you would be guaranteed to have a bad time.

Maybe at some point in the future if they optimize performance enough.

With multiple CVs attached to one, you can fit multiple teleporters... and the only downside of the Hades is that it takes a good amount of time to traverse it on foot. With our faction setup, you can teleport straight to the bottom of the hangar, and I'm thinking of adding a tiny "control tower" CV with a teleporter somewhere as well.

You could also get around Server class limits (usually 25) that way, too ;-)

This is a gorgeous ship! The pictures hardly do it justice - my first time walking it I was in awe. Loving the Hades, and just managed to get your Grond off the ground. Huge fan of your builds.

The accessible maintenance areas and recreation areas (Pilot Training, Gym, Cantina, Engineering) are what really sell these for me. When I first spawned it, I was legitimately lost for about 10 minutes, and just awed by the size and detail.

Any chance you'll be making a modular super-massive CV in the future?

I'd love to see something like the Helios with your attention to detail and texturing. I noticed the half-runway under the Aft section of the ship, along the bottom, and promptly docked two Helios Modules (hydroponics) there. Carved out an Elevator shaft for a near-seamless transition, too.

Yeah, I did watch the video with the Ender. That thing is a beast.

I did extend it out about 10 blocks. I made some compromises on the aesthetics because I could not for the life of me figure out some of the colors you were using, but its passable as long as you never see it personally :).

Doing that made it possible to squeeze in a few of my favorite CVs in the interior, though I think I will only house 2 inside so I can still maneuver SVs without getting too cluttered.

It really is a fantastic ship though.

Yeah, when I started the build I actually experimented with different Hangar sizes. I did actually want an internal Hangar big enough to fit the Zeus and my Kronos. However to keep somewhat good looking proportions I would have had to make the ship basically the maximum allowable length (ca. 475m). I stopped once I had a third of the very basic outer hull shape, wich already was at size class 12 or so. The whole thing would have been over size class 100, which would effectively get even worse when you dock other ships to it.

If you want an impression on how such a monster behaves in actual gameplay I recommend Spanj's video with the 'Ender'.

LOL - I am experimenting with copy/paste (I may not be up for this task, to be honest. I think perspetive skewed how much wider this ship would have to be to make it work. It really only seemed like 6-10 blocks wider, but I think it is actually closer to 25ish.

@whwatson33: Making the ship wider is pretty easy, but it will not be good for its looks. The Zeus is itself 80m in width, which means I would have to nearly double the current Hangar width. Can do if you really want, but holy cow thats gonna be one fat whale...

What are the chances you could make this wide enough to carry a Zeus (Movado) in the interior? I have a few key ships that I like to use that are just a tad too wide to carry in the interior.

It would be epic to stuff that inside of another ship.

OMG this thing is AMAZING !!! its absolutely my favorite ship now it fits in RE perfect and with my faction of 8 this ship can host them all SV, HV and CVs the design is absolute gorgeous and when i saw the hangar actualy closing my jaw fell
i dont know whut to say its the best and upgradeble and enough places to add turrets i want <3

Well you may want to have a look at Reforged Eden in this case. The Scenario introduces, amongst other things, CV Solar Panels. This ship comes with a full complement. It isn't enough to go fully energy independent, but reduces operating costs greatly.

You can also find Radioisotopic Generators there, which don't require fuel as long as you run on a low power percentage (i.e. you aren't flying around). It is possible to go completly fuel independent while stationary with those, even though they are quite rare.

super nice ship but would need huge amount of energy to operate.It would be nice to exist solar panel for cv and sv to reduce the amount needed

The Helios is nearly identical to this one, once it is upgraded, in terms of weight and thrust. So no, this ship will get slow as well when you put a lot of stuff in it.

I, for one, use it to warp from star to star, and do in-system stuff with specialised ships. I wouldn't recommend to do much in-system distances with a carrier in any case, as you will be in a very, very bad spot if you warp to a planet and land beneath a tovera with your complete life in an unarmored carrier.

I builded the helios to be our carrier. But even half pack filled its getting very slow. Will this ship handle full packed mode better?
