Normal fire can't burn torches. Only special torch fire can burn torches. This has been true ever since lightning struck a pitch-covered tree, creating the first torch, as discovered by Og Torch in the late Paleolithic. How we know this is a mystery, as it predates writing by thousands of years.

Any torch ignited by normal fire is a fake. It's just a torch-shaped stick. Don't be fooled by online scams.

I'm well past the point of using torches in my current save, but I'll still pick this up for new ones!
