They should move slower.
There should be less of them
They should be able to move around left to right, slowly, before fading. The fade should be a downwards or upwards slide, that mimics actual northern lights appearance

So I think with some minor tweaks, this could be a really neat effect. Slow it down, more 'gaseousness', less of the vertical pieces.
