Thanks for your inputs. Both problems should be fixed now.
I rest ran this a couple of seasons and there doesn't seem to be any league sorting in the Swiss Promotion League. I couldn't find sorting rules in any leagues except the top league. At the end of the first season 6 teams finished on the same points (3 pairs) and were all sorted at random (the game noted this at the bottom of the league table). I don't know if this is an easy fix. The sorting rules for the promotion league in real life seem to be 1. Total points 2. Total goal difference 3. Total goals scored 4. Head to head goal difference 5. Head to head away goals 6. Tie break draw.
