I've been looking at the icons a little bit, and while I still can't do anything about the captain's colored symbols that show up without input(for example, on the crew tab of the ship menu, or the operation screen you get after confirming the operation type and location), the TOOLTIPS that show up after hovering the mouse over those colored symbols can be modified just fine - adding extra icons in the data/textures/ui/captain folder, and then properly addressing those for all the additional levels in the CaptainUtility.makeTooltip(captain, commandType) function worked for that purpose. Changing other lines in the tooltip also allows the level and exp progress to be shown properly.

The symbols and display outside of the tooltip not getting changed properly might be because it's hardcoded, or at least not properly exposed in terms of easily readable lua code - I'd send you the modifications I've made directly so far, if I knew how to do so in a reliable way.

@mr_pleco, no need to rush or apologize, I was just curious about whether this mod worked (this being the only mod that raises the maximum of captain levels, out of all the mods I could find in the workshop), or if I could somehow figure out the issues if it didn't.

...That being said, it would indeed be extremely appreciated if you were able to push out an official update. Again, no pressure - you are under no obligation, and your life should come first.

Sorry guys, I didn't realize people were still using this mod. I haven't played in years but I'll try to take a look this weekend.

iirc the file structure and format is extremely simple so it's easy enough to get back into updating the mod for the latest updates, assuming it's still possible.

They have a modular system for controlling these values that I modified, so I just overrode the existing controller with my custom controller that set the values to a higher level. Assuming there's still similar controllers that I can override then I will be able to make an update.

Searching through the files reveals that the captains' tooltip is left untouched, and thus cannot visually represent the levels or exp beyond level 6, and gets stuck in level 6 in both the tooltip line at the top, and the emblem (5 stars) at the bottom right - despite this, internally it might still be functioning as intended. @demongo1154, did you ever use this mod with level 6 captains long enough to get a level up notification for them, despite there not being a 'EXP progress' line in their tooltips? You probably didn't, but I just wanted to make sure.

Could you update thi mod as it is causing issues in 2.4.2? If you can't, could you update its info so that players could know if it is dead or not?
