even after deleting all trade posts in my territories, I still can't get the "no merchant repub has trade post in your domain." I'm using CK2+ if that helps
Canon 20 Dec, 2017 @ 1:15am
It still works
AmbitiousRam 27 Nov, 2017 @ 8:14am

QuasiMOB 8 Mar, 2017 @ 12:42am

"- Not have trade posts of any existing Merchant Republic in any of their demesne.provinces. "
Actually this requirement is not compatible with the trade posts from the trade routes: they have to be deleted to be allowed to change for a Republic, which makes no sense.
You either should tweak this, or simply remove the requirement which would result in the deletion of foreign posts once the new Republic is founded. It would avoid the need to wage tons of embargo-wars, and it already works this way when you create new republic vassals, so it'd be all good.

@adecoy95 I know that cheating is kinda a cheap move, you could always get the exact amount of gold you need with console commands and form a republic immediately.

Great mod works perfectly, thanks
Elvesflame 28 Feb, 2016 @ 2:06pm
Is this compatible with Trade++?
fanyogs 11 Feb, 2016 @ 9:14am
does this work with the new dlc and version?
adecoy95 10 Dec, 2015 @ 12:43am
could you add a version of this mod that does not require gold? now that north koreaing is gone i cant start a game and get a republic right away, and honestly all i want to do is to be able to easily start the game as a republic, i dont need or want a 500 gold restriction :(
Calango 9 Oct, 2015 @ 3:19pm
@Rikashey You need to be atleast a duke to found a playable republic rank, county rank republics are unplayable.
Rikashey 30 Sep, 2015 @ 10:16pm
Why is the title "Any Rank" yet it doesn't allow you to found a republic as a Count?

Should change your mod or title of the mod.

I want to found one as a Count not a Duke.

Just wanted to drop a line and say thanks for this mod. And thanks for updating it so fast.

Updated for CK2 2.4.1\Horse Lords.

I've also taken off the restriction against female rulers founding Republic, since at least some of the bugs blocking that appear to be fixed. However since Republics are locked to Agnatic-Seniority succession, make sure you have male relatives to carry on your line!
yclept  [author] 31 May, 2015 @ 1:32pm
I've finally got around to rewriting the mod to use the new mechanism introduced in the Charlemagne patch for making the Republic. It should fix the bug where the temporary title occasionally stuck around, and allows me to remove the requirement that you should only have one title at your highest tier.

For 'Way of Life' (only if you're using it) I've added requirement that you need to have Business focus to take the Republic Decision.
yclept  [author] 6 Feb, 2015 @ 5:41am
@landskinken, Yes it should be compatible with all the DLC.

@Sauphiadra, Unfortunately there are underlying CK2 bugs with Female rulers of Republics that make it pretty much unplayable (the family palace is broken if you have male heirs, there are various succession problems), that's why the mod blocks them from taking the decision. I do however need to recheck that that these haven't been fixed in the Way of Life patch.
Landskinken 3 Feb, 2015 @ 6:59am
is mod compatible with the sword of islam DLC?
Sauphiadra 31 Jan, 2015 @ 3:46pm
yclept, considering you have a female equality mod, and a founder of the republic mod, do you think you would ever sort of combine the two and allow female succession in republics somehow? If women can lead armies and rule with full authority, etc, then I don't see why they can't win elections and shuffle coins around. I've never really enjoyed playing a republic and being forced to be a male character the rest of the game...but republics interest me much more than feudal lords. I suspect I'm not the only one who feels this way.
d'Artagnan 31 Jan, 2015 @ 8:07am
Now we just need a DLC that lets you play a theocracy.
apache 24 Jan, 2015 @ 8:24am
I wish CK2 allowed you to play of Grand Cities too, it would make the game very interesting.
Leonskye 12 Jan, 2015 @ 9:27am
is it compatible with 2.3?
yclept  [author] 4 Dec, 2014 @ 2:58am
I've added about where to get the AGoT version of the mod, since I've taken that down due to it being fundamentally incompatible with the way CK2 uploads mods to the Workshop, and I've given up waiting for a fix for that.
yclept  [author] 18 Oct, 2014 @ 6:19am
@Thadian, The most recent 2.1.6 compatible version should be available from the forum thread.
Sol 17 Oct, 2014 @ 6:36pm
Could you please upload a 2.1.6 version into a seperate file? This patch will be a milemarker that many people resign forever to 2.1.6 and having a version of this mod for that patch will help a lot of people.
yclept  [author] 15 Oct, 2014 @ 10:38am
New version is now uploaded.
yclept  [author] 14 Oct, 2014 @ 3:15pm
I have a new version which disables the decision for tribal rulers, who should now use the vanilla decision, however currently Steam Workshop and CK2 don't want to cooperate to let me upload it. Joy.
yclept  [author] 14 Oct, 2014 @ 11:52am
I've now done some testing with CK2 version 2.2, and the current version of the mod still appears to be working for feudal rulers. I still recommend you disable the mod if you are playing as a tribal ruler, until I can upload a new version.
yclept  [author] 13 Oct, 2014 @ 11:17am
Added an important note about compatibility with Charlemagne and the accompanying patch being released by Paradox tommorrow. Short version: it is likely you will need to disable this mod when running versions higher than 2.1.6 until I have a chance to work on its compatibility.
Celeborn 26 Sep, 2014 @ 4:06pm
@yclept I'll try that then also try running the scenario with vanilla and just republic any rank running to see if it's the other mods that are conflicting with this one. Appreciate the response and feed back by the way.
yclept  [author] 26 Sep, 2014 @ 9:31am
@Sharkeyyy, Unlikely possibility: are you paused, taking to the decision, and then switching to the laws tab without unpausing? I think that can sometimes cause it a problem. If you are doing that, try unpausing and letting it run through until after you get your Patricians showing up, before going to the laws. If not then nm, its a long shot.
Celeborn 26 Sep, 2014 @ 6:44am
@yclept I'm using the SUCH holdings WOW mod and the Keyboard Shortcut mod. Any idea why this is happening ? I reinstalled the base game and everything to make sure it wasn't an install issue etc.
yclept  [author] 25 Sep, 2014 @ 11:21am
@Sharkeyyy, that's not something I've heard of anyone getting before. Are you using any other mods? The mod shouldn't being doing anything with the laws.
Celeborn 25 Sep, 2014 @ 8:59am
I'm playing as france, formed frankish empire and then tried republic and it won't work. I just get a game crash when I check the LAWS tab, any help ?
Bill Nye the Russian Spy 4 Sep, 2014 @ 3:08pm
Yep i accdently made all of the tit;es in england republics XD
yclept  [author] 4 Sep, 2014 @ 1:49am
@Bill Nye the Russian Spy, It might be there's an engine limitation to do with a Republics having vassals Republics. I'm not sure about this, but people were having problems with game overs in AGoT if they conquered east (with lots of republics) to form the Iron Throne. If that's the case, the best I can do in terms of the mod is not let you take the decision if you have vassal Republics. As for how to get rid of existing Republics, best I can think of is revoke the title, and then possibly give it back out to the to a Feudal character making sure you give them the castle first, not the city.
Bill Nye the Russian Spy 1 Sep, 2014 @ 3:50pm
I am plaing as a refromed norse guy and by acident throughot the game i created lots of republic vassals like one in iceland and the the duchies in england are republics hwo do i get rid of them they dont even do anything.
Bill Nye the Russian Spy 1 Sep, 2014 @ 3:47pm
When i became a republic i said i cant continue player becuase of that. HELP and yes i have and Paid for the Republic dlc
yclept  [author] 31 Aug, 2014 @ 12:44am
@The Walrus. It's under your House on the Republic tab. It will say 1/3, where 3 is your limit, or something like that. It might be zero for a while if you don't have any Trade Practices tech.
Walrun 30 Aug, 2014 @ 1:42pm
Cheers. One last thing, is there a way to see your trade post limit?
yclept  [author] 30 Aug, 2014 @ 4:35am
@The Walrus, use the Republic Trade Zones mapmode, shortcut is 'g'.
Walrun 29 Aug, 2014 @ 3:30pm
How do you know who owns the trade posts?
yclept  [author] 29 Aug, 2014 @ 7:52am
@The Walrus, you'll need to declare a trade war with them, and destroy the trade post.
Walrun 25 Aug, 2014 @ 3:30pm
How do you create a republic if another Merchant Republic has a trade post in your demesne?
Doffer 26 Jul, 2014 @ 5:57pm
@RabidRagdoll1337 I know. I'm talking overall heir to my dynasty. The bloke you see under your ruler's picture in his overview. Even when my oldest son comes of age and has a well funded campaign chest (he gets double the points then my opponents), my compatator still remains the heir of my doge.
m00p 26 Jul, 2014 @ 12:05pm
@Doffer, the designate heir tool is only useful for designating the heir for your buisness (patrician) to get your child to get elected as the doge you need to invest in their campaign fund (If they are adults.)
Doffer 26 Jul, 2014 @ 4:30am
I even tried designating my oldest son to be heir but that didn't help at all... I'm at a total loss...
Doffer 26 Jul, 2014 @ 4:28am
I keep getting the problem that when I turn Holland into a republic my sons don't get succesion rights at all[/b] . I started with a ruler with 10 sons (ruler editor) yet once I found my republic, one of my rivaling patricians becomes my heir. Does someone have any idea to how this is possible?
