Is there a way to use this to just grab a copy of an NPC's dna to paste later into a new custom character?
CKIII apparently lacks the most common sense things and there's apparently no mods that fix these things either (like the ability to create and start with custom cultures and religions, which you think would be in the base game).

Also, the mod is bugged now, using it changes DNA of the player character as well.

@rush1993 Ruler Designer DNA is called "Persistent DNA", while the one used in-game is DNA String. The only tool to convert one into another is built-in PortraitEditor which you start from the console. So the functionality is in game, you can convert Persistent DNA into DNA String and paste it in-flight, but I don't know how to do it in mod. If you allow pasting DNA from outside (i.e., from clipboard) in your mod, one would be able to convert it manually using PortraitEditor.

@DustDevil I haven't tested it in Princess of Darkness, but they have entirely different DNA format (they have a set of DNA settings for disfigurements mostly for Nosferatu and such). It might work though, if the mod copies entire DNA String and then just replaces that in another character. If mod copies just standard DNA settings then it wouldn't work.

Compatible with Princes of Darkness?

For whatever reason, whenever I copy another person's DNA, it changes my character's appearance, even before pasting.

@onehandedclapper now you can paste DNA!

What I've done is use Ruler Designer Unlocked so I can use it even after the game starts, choose a minor count that is insignificant to edit, copy & paste the DNA and save, then I go back to my own character and use this mod to copy from that minor count I edited. It's a drag but it works at least.

I would also like to use this mod in the similar way that @onehandedclapper and @child_of_air want to do. Has there been an update for Royal Court? Thanks so much!

Any plans to update this? I want to do the same thing onehandedclapper wants to do.

I want to be able to change the dna of my children's spouses in-game that way I can use premade characters and introduce those cool looking characters into my dynasty's gene pool. Currently I can only change the spouse with spouse creator mod, but that only works on the first spouse. Any idea on how to do that without manually editing the savefile each time pasting dna from the portrait editor? Your mod - along with another recently added mod which makes clones of characters - seem to work with character dna.

Thank you, do you have a mod to copy the character trait and everything that he have and past it to someone else ?
Misterbaits 28 Sep, 2021 @ 5:58am

What do you do after you've copied the DNA. How can I drop it on my character?
HeavenRaider 27 Sep, 2021 @ 8:09am
@aTimeTravelParadox Current character only :(

I never wanted to bodysnatch anyone until I heard of this mod.
a Trippy Paradox 24 Sep, 2021 @ 4:15pm
Does this actually copy the DNA to the clipboard or does it force the copy to your current character only?
trvdeav 24 Sep, 2021 @ 7:11am
You need to use the Portrait Editor in the debug menu to transfer between "DNA string" (the encrypted jumble of text you copy) and "Persistent DNA" (the data you paste into Ruler Designer). It's a weird system to figure out but once you do it's quite easy to transfer.

Nice, now I can steal bodies by copying DNA and killing the target afterwads. Mwaahahahaha!
