Ah, I see it now! I've also got the Camping mod with a Tanegashima, the rifle model is longer and the range is 100 more, it's not exactly compatable with your mod (ammo won't work and the color is just a hair different), but I kinda like that. Custom rifles and army standard. :)

I'm loving this, well done!

The springbat probably close in principle to a ranged they'd approve of, but .... mmmh. Too small. Too flimsy. Not enough power.

@Bob: I KNOW, >.< believe me I've thought about it and it's driving me nuts because it leaves them at a balance disadvantage....

I have an idea, but only if I can do it right, about maybe some of their Unhorned - the retainers, the disgraced, the unlucky - being given this "lesser" combat role as a last chance to die gloriously in battle. So, shit armor, low-quality melee weapon, and something suitably un-subtle for the ranged weapon, like huge honking throwing axes or a barely-man-portable, slow-firing ballista kinda thing. We'll see.

That's a version mismatch.... i've been using Experimental 1.0.55 and this version of the mod tool will throw weird errors like that if you try loading the mod in the normal version, which never happened before.... I'm trying to find out how soon 1.0.55 will go stable before I downgrade my entire Kenshi install and redo all my mods x_x

Meanwhile, to use this or any other current mod, use 1.0.55 which you can access just like you would opt into a Beta on steam for a game

That would do it then. I have not done much editing on Shek yet. They're last on my regional overhaul list (I'm currently overhauling Shem, just finished The Swamp, and have Holy Nation to get to next. Shek is after that). So yeah, Call the NPC some name like Shek Bogan. Dont give them a name - have the Shek Kingdom strip a person of their name when they lose their horns. Done deal.

yes, iirc in the FCS there is a place where you can set if an NPC is "shaved" used for slaves, it's different than setting their "hair style" to be bald. When you set this option on a Shek that's how you get the cut horns :)

That's a good idea! I wonder if a few faces couldnt be force used in that kind of scenario so that the Shek who used ranged weapons also spawned with horns that were cut off.

@Amok: i had similar thoughts regarding the Shek and ranged combat. On the one hand I could see them looking down on it, on the other, leaving them as the last faction or group in the world without any ranged might strongly nerf them unintentionally.

My thoughts were to have something short-ranged, slow-firing and brutal as a weapon, and then having the ranged characters be called something that made it clear that they had a questionable status in Shek society - maybe the formerly-disgraced who wouldn't be allowed the glory of Last Stand but given a chance to redeem themselves on the battlefield, or Retainers looking to make a name for themselves allowing entry to the warrior caste, etc.... something along those lines.

Well done. I've been working on a large overhaul and have also added Tanegashima to small units the UC has. The idea of Okran's rebuke for the Holy Nation is good.

There's a mod out there that makes strictly bows. Perhaps the Shek would be more fond of a bow? Or maybe they think Archery is the domain of the cowardly, and look down on it so only engage in face to face combat.

i will see if i can get a chance to downgrade my install, and then repack the mod with the Tanegashima assets, and make one single mod for 1.0.54 with no dependencies.... but this may take a few days til i can get to it. In the meantime, I've had no stability issues with 1.0.55 (and it has some new nifty settings for city view distance) so i'd recommend trying that first.

I am on the "Experimental" version of Kenshi, 1.0.55 - and apparently this version of the FCS is not compatible with previous versions of the game, such as the current Main "stable" branch, 1.0.54.... which I'm guessing you're using.

After checking around, this weird mangled name thing is exactly what happens when the newest version was used to make a mod and then trying to load it in the previous version.

I.... would have to downgrade my Kenshi install and redo the mod over again in order to get it to work with 1.0.54.... so... sorry folks, you'll have to use the Steam option to update to the Experimental branch (which is due to hopefully go stable soon anyway) in order to use my recent mods..... sigh

I'll try repacking it as one mod with no dependencies. Might take a bit to make sure I have all the parts.

Oh, i didn't nerf the Tanegashima damage - overall the gun is buffed, especially reload speed which was just too long to make it useful. The speed buff will be more noticeable at higher qualities and higher skill levels.

Mostly I made them a little more rare so the blueprint didn't show up all over the place right away, and so each ranger shop didn't have like 4 of them lol.

@Ren: what does it say the missing reference is? Maybe I'll just repackage it

I was JUST wanting something like this! Not sure if I like the nerfing of dmg unless the reload speed is increased, but immersion is king!
