I liked this rework a lot and i will be using your other character ones from this day onward! Haha, the only thing i can say to improve is Battle Ballad, since it only works with dancer teams, i will not be using it at all, sadly :(. But overall it is good!

@Lavahit Yes the riposte has no offensive abilityies (0 dmg and 0 acc), it may hit through the hidden 5% chance to hit built in game but that's about it. The goal of the riposte is to only give a +final dmg per enemies that target Jester

The riposte always missed or is being dodged. The only thing it does is give the jester a damage buff to his Finale.
It was done maybe cause he could not passively get that buff

giving jester riposte sounds super op also it gives 1 block and 20 dogde lol
jester allready has the highest base dogde of all classes. giving block and riposte is nobrainer op in my op.

I get this is not satisfying seeing people deviate from your original vision of Jester's playstyle but please don't this the wrong way.I used your vestal and antiquarian reworks and they are the tightest shit I have seen.
You made characters more intresting than before which is way I picked modding in the first place. This is the beauty of modding. Anyone can tailor everything to their satisfaction.
I happen to have a lot of modded characters that ain't the most mobile of the bunch and jester was sidelined because of this. Now I can enjoy more comps with this.

Battle Ballad shuffle is a necessary drawback for the amazing stats it gives. Even in full dance teams it will lead to some bad shuffles from time to time. It is meant to be gimmick and not his main option. But balance talk aside :

It will be cleaner if you go into heroes\jester\jester.info and delete the "pepper Jester Shuffle Party" in the five lines of .id "battle_ballad" (from level 0 to 4). This will also change the description of the skill

Ok I tried the mod, so far is has been good, but the biggest thing that guts most of my comps is the shuffle group mechanic on Battle Ballad and I need to remove it.
By going into effects/Jesterrework.effects.darkest and removing the line of Battle Ballad:
effect: .name "pepper Jester Shuffle Party" .target "target" .shuffleparty .chance 500%% .on_hit true .on_miss false .apply_once true .queue true , is that going to remove the effect?
And if it works, how can I rename the Battle Ballad's description to not include the 'Shuffle Group' part.

It's never too late ! So for this you are going to need to go inside the xml of the mod (that you can find in Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\262060\2593110230\ocalization), and remove " <entry id="combat_skill_name_jester_dirk_stab"><![CDATA[Heel Puncture]]></entry>" in the language you use. Then you need to run the xml with the localization.exe that you can find in Steam\steamapps\common\DarkestDungeon\_windows. And tada, it should have created a loc file that you just need to place in the loc folder of the mod

I mean I don't think it's getting railroaded. You can use a lot of heroes which can accomplish many things in different ranks : Grave Robber, Hound Master, Antiquarian, Occultist, Shieldbreaker and crusader are all heroes that can do many things in any ranks.

Lot of skills require specific team building in vanilla as well. Biggest one is lunge, but also simply holy lance limits heavily which heroes can be in rank 2 or 3 of your team. That's for the reasoning, but of course you don't necessarily have to like it. I encourage you to change the skill back to its vanilla counterpart, or simply remove the shuffle if you want, it's really easy to do.

It's a nice buff but the shuffle cripples so many effective party comps until my options are very limited. Even if you think that it's strong enough to justify that, which I disagree with personally, it still sucks having no better choice than either running the same movement based team or relying on excessive amounts of dumb luck. Party building is about finding synergy not being railroaded into the only combos that work effecively

@NeonNibility Yes battle ballad is now more a niche skill, and even dance comp maybe at risk of a bad shuffle. However I really feel the buff are big enough to balance it, and it knows how to reward players that adapt the best to every shuffle possible.

There's so many good Jester reworks and this one is definitely top tier, but it's hard to capitalize on Battle Ballad when it shuffles my group in unlucky ways

@Ex-S Zero Glad that you like it. Inspiring Tunes is limited use to counter what base game never managed to do : stalling. Currently you can get 26 stress heal per fight, including corridors, + and additonal 18 if you kill something with final, it's still massive. The average player don't tend to use it more than 2 time, so it only really prevent abuse. It also means that + stress healing trinkets finally do something

As said in the mod descriptions, limited use skills are refresh between each waves (Inspiring Tunes an Final). Just like Abo transformation in Vanilla

Wouldn't limited uses prevent usage in Farmstead? I believe you could program it to cooldown only after the second use of Inspiring Tune, which would prevent abuse but still grant more usage if needed (like in Farmstead).

had to agree with @askeladd 2 uses for 13 stress heal at max level is a bit much.
i mean i get it ya tried to find a way that make jester less reliant as a buff bot and stress heal bot and his other skills was pretty decent rework but inspiring tune ended up being the one ability that will never be used (atleast in my game) how about cooldown system instead?

The shuffle is pretty fun with variable formation parties, was expecting it to be e huge detriment but you really just need a team comp built for it.

On the other hand I think Inspiring Tunes is quite weak at being limited to 2 per battle, I honestly saw no issue with it being the way it was and would return it to vanilla personally. Other than that this is a pretty fun rework, it feels nice using Finale more often outside of bosses for one!

@Engrish Speaker Battle Ballad is definitly different now, and you shouldn't think of it like an auto include even if the buff are really powerful. Try it out after a lunge or a Holy Lance to reposition everyone

Evenything looks awesome besides Battle Ballad, change acc buff into dodge buff is a nerf to be honest (acc is much more helpful in early game, but dodge is not that big of the deal even in late game), and team shuffle is such a punishment, make it super hard to use
