But you have to update this mod! Or else we can't play it!!
as for the Han Empire being superior, really it isn't, just peasant rice farmers and shit
Kind of the whole reason why the Huns/Mongols were such an imminent threat... But in many cases from reading the unit descriptions, it seems like the Hun cavalry actually SUCK compared to Ma Teng... So why would anyone even bother keeping this mod after reading the unit combat stats?
A little bit before the Han fell into this 3K period, the Xiongnu collapsed. The main Steppe power above China during the 3K period was the Xianbei, so it would make more sense for this mod faction to be called Xianbei, not Xiongnu.
The Huns were once *part* of the Xiongnu, but they weren't the same ethnically as the Xiongnu ruling class/ dynasty, which makes sense given the Xiongnu was a massive confederation of many tribes. So calling the Huns (if we're referring to Attila's Huns that invaded Europe) "Xiongnu" makes as much sense as calling the French "Romans" or "Gauls".
There are some instances of the Xiongnu being referred to as "Huna" or some other similar term like you described. However, it seems to be a catch-all term used for the Xiongnu but also for tribes after them that invaded Europe, Persia, India, Korea, etc.
I really appreciate the offer. I would like to implement it if you make them and ill of course credit you.
I want to be honest with you tho and say right now there are some pressing issues with this mod sadly. Mainly some of the main map models don’t appear when using the mod.
If your still up for it, you can add me ill look into this issue to let you know what is possible.
It should work currently but is not very compatible with other mods sadly.
Regarding the name. So, it’s a bit tedious to change and part of the reason I ended up using Huns has nothing to do with historical accuracy or any of that. Its simply that in western pop culture it’s the name people know. I know for the history buffs that’s kind of a bum answer but yea…
I might change it, but I can say when.
That being said I do appreciate the feedback.
This is the only mod I've found that adds the Steppe tribes in as their own faction. Thank you!!
However, the if played on the version where unit cards are more detailed, then the custom units you add in have blank unit cards. Would you update this when you can? If you don't have the time, I can make the unit cards and send them to you.
Lastly, could you rename the faction from Huns to Xianbei? The Xianbei ruled the eastern Steppe during the 3K period, and the Huns were never actually near China. They lived in the western Steppe between the Aral and Caspian seas.
Sry for the late response. I'm sorry but I can't remember the list of tables. I suggest looking at a culture like nanman and mimic. Sadly it will first work when all tables are properly filled.
Hmm, that's a strange bug. What is really needed is that compatible version. In regards to the units I like the feedback and get the need for a more late game defense unit. Probably still a bit just have a lot on my plate right now hope you can all understand :)
A Chinese version would be really cool but i don't speak Chinese so someone else would have to carry the torch on this one.
I really hope that it can be made to work with those and I'm trying to sort it out but it is a bit difficult and will sacrifice certain elements of the mod. In short, hopefully in a patched version.
Those are great ideas and I would definetly be willing to implement that. However at the moment the focus is bug fixes and compatibility. So this could be something for the future. Always enjoy getting new feedback and ideas :) .
In short the mod does use Mongol and some Turk names but as of now there is a bug in the auto generator that causes it to mix in chinese names and its quit the challenge to fix. I have no issue adding Jurchen names but the generator for names of children will first have to be properly patched to get the desired results.
The reason that the name Huns was chosen was simply because it's well known in Europe where I'm from. So because of that it was more convenient. I'm aware that when talking about asian and middle eastern history this might seem off but i'm not a huge history buff so just kinda went with what i learned.
The hope is that it will be possible to make the mod more compatible with other work but its still a bit unclear. But hopefully it will be possible to add in a future update.
I am not sure I completely understand what you are asking for. In regards to updates i have another thing I am working on as well. This mod is definitely still in development but the update rate will be slow due to changes in my personal life as well.
I am very happy you are taking the time to try the mod hopefully also having a good time with it and I hope to get updates out sooner rather than later.
