this mod says no longer working and has to be uninstalled in order to run ANY mod (even when this on is not enabled)

@jc3213 It's fine if you want to go ahead and edit it into showing "compatibility" with the future versions yourself. We're mainly keeping this mod up (archival purposes and such, rather than a complete mod deletion for no apparent reason), because of how useful it was (probably still is) and how the original author completely vanished with their entire collection deleted (didn't even leave it up or anything which would be deleted once DS tries to "update" all the mods at once). Technically, it should be "future-proof" as far as anyone is concerned, since the bee box behavior is essentially recycled throughout the future updates (unless the devs feel like the code needs a complete overhall for some reason, but rarely is that ever true). The "compatibility" logging system is essentially DS's lazy way to make mod developers unnecessarily update their uploads, despite clear evidence to the contrary. All it means is that the 'compatible = true' wasn't done recently.

I've manually added the following lines to modeinfo.lua

-- Compatibility
dont_starve_compatible = true
reign_of_giants_compatible = true
shipwrecked_compatible = true

Tested in ROG and SW, it works good.

@Fear Gorta This is mainly an overwrite to the beebox.lua code where it adds an exception to the rule where a bee box harvest causes bees to spawn reguardless of wearable status. The exception looks for the situation using: "local hatEquipped = picker.components.inventory:GetEquippedItem(EQUIPSLOTS.HEAD)" // a hat is equipred or not; then, it runs the logic: "if not hatEquipped or hatEquipped.prefab ~= "beehat" then inst.components.childspawner:ReleaseAllChildren(picker)" // if it isn't a beehat, then it releases all the bees in an "picker" (angry b/c of harvest) state.

This is a neat mod despite the small change it adds, tells me that similar effects can be added to other gear such as the fish umbrella, armor and swordfish. Might poke around with this on those three to see what fun stuff can be added to them in SW. Kinda makes me want to make some inventory items as well, like a shark lure schematic through survival to create an item to draw sharks to the location it is placed and a micro chip in science to track them with a map icon with a combination schematic to create a controller to have a shark that serves as a pet in water or perhaps simply make the ones in procimity of it aggressive to other enemies as well as you to create some entertaining situations. As for the fish armor i'd like it to serve as a sort of camo to help you while gathering resources in avoiding aggression of certain enemies.

@soloreclipz I'm pretty sure it will work if the fish-farm acts as a bee box without further alterations to the function of the box itself. This mod alters the bee box's behavior in terms of whether or not you have the beekeeper hat when harvesting and the obvious attack for ONLY not having one while harvesting. If the fish-farm just acts as an entity that calls for both a pond and a bee box function to act as one overlap, then this alteration will apply as it usually will and that is all you have to do.
However, if this does not apply to that mod then the fish-farm has its own bee box function file (as a dedicated copy for that mod), and then you may want to go into the files and look for a "beebox.lua" in a non-workshop edition of that mod (so the changes do not get over-written) and copy the one from this mod over to that one. Hopefully, that mod doesn't break when you apply this copy to that version.

@kenny.kendal0091 Any enemy in the game will chase you forever, as long as it gets to swing. Eventually, as long as you're fast enough so that it can't swing, it will stop chasing. Except with some cases, like tallbirds you steal an egg from.

@kenny.kendal0091 Yes, that is the whole point of the mod. The bee keeping hat is now a preventative measure instead of a defensive measure and usually the bees will chase you forever without the mod even installed.

ive notived if you dont wear a bee keeper hat when harvesting then the bees chase you forever untill you kill them, got chased halfway across the map

@XxKuleDudexX Weird, have you tried this with the mod activated for a fresh save? The mod might have issues with older saves that were before enabling. Also, I did notice that sometimes downloading mods from the Steam workshops have a higher incident of crash/ect. because some times the download might corrupt itself. I recommend trying the mod on a new save, and if it still occurs then I will upload to the Klia website so you could try it on that. If still keeps occuring then you might have something conflicting with the mod and if it is the only mod that you have then I could try going back in and figuring out the code, but more than likely you could try this with a new save and the incidents might stop occuring.

I have same problem as KillaMoKronic, when i activate this mod the bees stop working and don't go out of the box, but when i turn it off, the bees go to normal as they were before i activated this mod.

@KillaMoKronic I am not perticularly sure but if your bees are not spawning try having flowers around the beebox, and if it does not work try a fresh world and see if you can't replicate the same problem as well as try to see if you don't have a mod that also affects the beebox (Bees working in winter).

I don't know if this is happening with anyone else but my bee boxes arent spawning any bees, and no its not winter. It is autum and think winter is coming up but it's not here yet does that make it so bees wont spawn if its close to winter?

@Sir Analduck using the DS Mod tools, I have noticed that the command prompt (as a console) keeps popping up everytime I run the game which makes the game start up slower. Is there a way I could disable the option for the command prompt to pop up every game start?

@Sir Analduck I dabble a bit in coding and content creation mainly in TF2 Map making for JFH, but I mainly uploaded this because I found that there was no trace of the mod, or anything like it, and the author was no where to be found.

@madpluck Did you use a fresh save or did all the bees die at any point? I also know that if you don't have any flowers near a bee box then the honey production does not work and so you need to capture a Butterfly then plant it near the bee box as a flower and repeat capture of a butterfly and planting it near by the bee box which will loop as you farm for flowers.

I THINK that when using this mod, my bee boxes don't produce any honey ever. Might be a conflict with another mod but I'm not sure what else I have that would modify this.
