It's a really essential mod for a lazy me, and I haven't been able to play without this for years.
Other modes related to priorities were set according to technology, but I'm more than happy to be able to automatically move with just passion like I wanted.

Not sure if this'll be necessary but compatibility with rimpsyche would be awesome, if the two mods could interact with each other in some way
Rex705 10 Oct @ 7:39am
I wish this wasn't forced into every ideology. I didn't want it for my colony ideology and when I go into the settings and try to change it to prohibited or anything else it just reverts right back.

This was a cool fun idea but sadly just doesn't work very well.
Kymonlyte 5 Oct @ 10:21am
Hey! I am a super huge fan of this mod as re-doing the work tab each new playthrough is tedious and annoying! I've been messing around with the sliders and struggle to find a good way to balance it. Do you have any tips on setting the mod up in an effective way? Sorry if this is too elaborate of a question, feel free to disregard if so and I'll keep fiddling with it
Rukka 4 Oct @ 8:28am
I'm running into a problem where my colony refuses to do certain jobs, like stone cut, haul, and most importantly, doctor. I did a little testing to see what was going on, and it seems like this mod doesn't really work well with a larger colony where you have a lot going on. I love the idea of it, but for now it remains in my disabled list. <3
Davinci 10 Sep @ 7:28am
I agree that there's some sort of issue when babies are born. I don't think the priorities stop updating completely, but the colony just becomes dysfunctional. Stuff just stops getting done.
CordialVillain 7 Sep @ 1:55pm
Running into a problem where you have to reload a save game to get the priorities to update. No errors logged or crashes, it just doesn't update. Not sure if it's relevant, but my colony also just had a baby around when this started up.
Ghost of Mildred Monday 10 Aug @ 3:36am
Seems like this mod majorly breaks when one of your colonists has a baby- which really sucks since using this mod was literally the best experience I've ever had in 10 years of Rimworld. Pleas fix <3
Balkoth 8 Aug @ 11:02pm
This mod is absolutely amazing. I've tried a lot of auto work priority mods but so far I am the most impressed with this one.
j112000f 8 Aug @ 4:20pm
is it possible to make this work with 1.5 again?
Ravayen 6 Aug @ 11:40am
Is there any way to make this mod update slower? I mean ticks wise that is because wow it's a resource hog and i'm sure it could update slower and still be fine, maybe have a tps slider like the "slower pawn tick rate" mod does so we can find a happy medium?
Not a modder so don't know if this could even be a thing but it would really help if it could :)
Church.exe 3 Aug @ 10:22pm
this might be better served as another companion mod, but it'd be interesting if, when someone was infected by a metal-horror, they secretly had free-will turned on and would prioritize doing things like cooking meals to spread the infection without the player knowing. (so the player could still manually set their priorities, they just wouldn't listen, Or maybe they WOULD listen, but sometimes would silently flip over to free-will to spread the infection or something)
Ravayen 3 Aug @ 7:17am
@Lemon caro
"While you're up" works fine so i doubt it, i think this mod just cycles work type priority and doesn't really interfere with things like that tbh.
Lemon caro 3 Aug @ 6:24am
does this have a mod conflict with the comon sense mod? due to it having a feature where the pawn's clean the work space before working
or other mod's that mess with pathing
Quiana 1 Aug @ 1:36pm
Hi Free, I did discover a bug that probably needs a relatively 'quick' fix at some point. It seems that free will wants to blow out on the 'Summon dryads' that is given for the VE Phy race. When summoned, the dryads are colony members (but replacible) however the Free Will stuff loses its mind and tries to UI spam to death. If you do not interact with their free will tab, it doesn't do this, but the dryads are effectively going to cause a crash out if selected. Hugslog is attached here:

тетеря, блин 30 Jul @ 7:41am
Consider adding some basic integration with RimDialogue and RimAI 🙏 not sure how though, but I just tried them and I believe this is the future of RimWorld.
Ravayen 25 Jul @ 9:00am
Not sure whats causing it but saving and reloading seems to unreliably fix it for now.
NachtPraise 24 Jul @ 9:37pm
have the same problem about unable to change between on or off, it just turn on constantly
Ravayen 24 Jul @ 1:51pm
ok update, she is still swapping between jobs so basically the bug is that toggling free will off and on via the tick box does well....nothing, it just stays on and you are stuck with it :(
Ravayen 24 Jul @ 1:46pm
Strange bug on my end, i disabled free will on my one and only pawn and now the work tab shows no priority boxes and i cant select priorities.
There are 2 blue squares under patient and bed rest (she's wounded) as if free will is still turned on but it's not and like i said, nothing under the other work types.
Argyuile 22 Jul @ 7:16pm
Any way to get the children to default to doing learning tasks instead of work? Even with the no child labor precept the kids are running around and not getting their growth tiers because they are hauling and other stuff.
Amko The Terrible 17 Jul @ 11:40am
For some reason, someone in the colony needing treatment tends to disable Research work, which includes Hacking, which in the new DLC areas is highly annoying to have to halt an away mission because someone got scratched by a wasp drone and now you cannot hack any blast doors.
Vortek Gamer 14 Jul @ 2:41pm
hay @Freemapa, Do want to let you know that you can still make it work with 1.5 where rimworld load up 1.5 folder like other mods that support more then one version.
Plague!ctrl<_MIDA_> 13 Jul @ 6:47pm
Hi mod author! When using the Free Will mod with the mod Persona Mechanoids 2, if the persona mech is damaged, it automatically switches to patient, doctor, and bed rest, ignoring smithing. As a result, clicking on it to "repair" results in the message that the pawn is not assigned to smithing. They need to be able to smith to heal themselves. I tried setting the smithing weight to 100%. However, it still forces patient, doctor, and bed rest. I know you are probably busy, I am willing to learn some C # or XML to create a patch if you are not up to it, just point me in the right direction.
TrueAvarus 13 Jul @ 6:14am
Thank you, this mod if must have for me. Cant even play without it
CattleGrove 12 Jul @ 10:14pm
thank you for update!
freemapa  [author] 12 Jul @ 9:34pm
@Kc - They changed some code in the game that caused a breaking change. So if you are playing on 1.5, then you will need to get one of the releases off the GitHub page. Sorry
Kc 12 Jul @ 6:55pm
0.0 why didnt you just keep 1.5 in the tag since it worked for 1.5 now on my rimpy its saying game mismatch but it worked on 1,5 does it not anymore?
CattleGrove 12 Jul @ 8:48am
Love the mod thank you for your work on it !
WaKKO151 12 Jul @ 7:23am
Love this mod. Totally essential. Can't wait for the update. Hope you doing great Free.
PT Scoops 11 Jul @ 7:39pm
100% one of my essentials
FirstAidKitHere 11 Jul @ 5:07pm
one of my `must have` mods! Thanks you so much!
freemapa  [author] 11 Jul @ 2:28pm
The 1.6 version of this mod will be out soon.
Kasa 17 Jun @ 5:35pm
Neat mod, tried it a bit.

Really REALLY read the part about mods that add job types, including mods like work tab.

My pawns WILL do work but they are also just as likely to piss around and get absolutely nothing done.
adam110902 15 Jun @ 12:03pm
please change/add passion to learning speed

currently the mod doesnt seem to work with any mods that add passions
BeatleSanders 13 Jun @ 3:01pm
First off, it's a great mod. I'm unsure however if it's intentional but my pawns are loosing their "working independently" buff after being drafted. Any chance there could be a option added to change that please? It's rather annoying to lose it after building it up only to see it disappear after needing to rally the troops to defend their home.
albinogod 13 Jun @ 1:38pm
@Kinnu and @brogre-chan, I also had it but I think I found a possible fix. Turning on dev mod will put a warning in the log telling you why it was turned off, my issue was caused by it trying to check if a pawn who lost their weapon had a valid weapon for hunting.
brogre-chan 30 May @ 10:20am
@Kinnu I'm having the same issue
Shrub 4 May @ 6:10pm
Been using for almost a year as I hop in and out of my stories. I love it a lot!

Thanks for developing and sharing this with everyone :UDG_Heart: :CoreKeeper_Gold_Bar:
Kinnu 18 Apr @ 10:14am
I love this but its randomly turning it off for my guys, Idk why, they all use to have it and be perfect. No new mods or anytrhing.
Kc 13 Apr @ 3:47pm
@Kal the Meowlord i find it funny how its a FREE mod and yall complain about patches ect ect when ur not giving the modders any sort of money nor support if u dont like it then remove it and be on about ur day instead of pressuring hard working modders to patch things up when they are more then likely busy with stuff so how about u calm down and make a mod yourself then
zafewins 26 Mar @ 9:35pm
My pawns sometimes just refuse to research. I think it might be a conflict with one with death, but research just perpetually says it's disabled because others need tending. From what I can tell no one needs tending and there isn't anywhere in the mod options to turn this off, which would be very helpful.
hwndk 15 Mar @ 7:41am
Give up free will forever their voices won't be heard at all
Yoann 25 Feb @ 11:59pm
After large scale test (every colonists with free will), I had to remove it after struggling with settings, the colony was not well managed.

"the AI is balanced for [...] vanilla work types" is really true, more settings are needed to fine tune the balance of a custom worktab.

The work preferences related to a worktype should be freely chosen, by example:
_Skill level: some custom worktype lose the related skill need (nurse job)
_Base value: we should be able to choose it for skilless worktype
_Refueling required/Things deteriorating: those preferences made me remove the mod, they are present only on vanilla worktype, and are irrevelant with custom refuel/perishable worktypes
TehJustOne 7 Feb @ 7:01pm
Mod compatible with the More than capable mod?
于是基米不再哈气 5 Feb @ 3:42pm
same free will shutting down issue
happens at sort of end game(for vanilla, not for the mod content, two saves
it reports no other mods involved, its simply fails to calculate job priority, mod bills and vanilla bills
upon quick testing its not population related, spawnd 80+ pawns from all kinds of mods, ran with them have somthing todo other than idle for 20 days in the testing new save, the freewill didnot shut down
weird
the pies belong to me 7 Jan @ 4:48pm
this is what i needed for years
Kal the Meowlord 5 Jan @ 5:28am
Hey uuuuh @freemapa ? are you dead??? This was basically like my top 3 mods... BUUUUT I had to finally remove and say farewell. and delete it.. and try to learn how to play without it (been using this since i got the fricken game -.-). Theres so many incompatibilities with other mods and there's a severe lack of patches anywhere for whatever fucking reason? (jfc pls mod makers make patches for this jfc, all the best modders have all been equally AWOL suspiciously since last april or may for some fucking reason?????) I've had to spend HOURS painstakingly trying to prune my modlist to cater to the tiny little picky intricacies of this mods fragile coding so many times and i'm done lol

I'm getting the issue where Free Will turns off by itself, but I dont have VSE. Nobody has mentioned other mods that does this stupid bug. I'm done with this crap until some heroic individuals can mention what mods breaks this and then i will thusly kiss them on the lips and give them money
iF 3 Jan @ 11:46pm
After using it for a while, I feel this is the best work assignment mod. If you're worried about pawns not resting when they're sick, you can simply raise the global threshold slightly.
CordialVillain 13 Dec, 2024 @ 8:05am
In case anyone else runs into the same issue; change your colony's free will precept to something other than what it's at, this'll update the colonist's free will settings.
