"Sounds" was added to projectiles to reduce enemy morale, knowing imminent death was inbound. This was done with arrow head/feather designs aswell as cannon balls, bombs etc. I think the sounds are very relevant. Bannerlord 2 has a lot of good sounds regarding javelins, arrows fired/thrown/impact etc. Maybe some of those can be used.

Any ideas for impact sounds? Specifically playing chaos rn and the javelin impact sounds like tin foil. Not sure what would work without being over the top though.

Maybe.... You can definitely change the sound of the projectile, but I'm not 100% sure you can change it to be "nothing". I'll look into that later.

Is there any way to make a mod which removes the "whistle" from arrows? I personally find it cartoony and would rather they be generally silent.

Apologies, I meant to respond to this awhile back and completely forgot.

Unfortunately I don’t actually know how to do that yet- I just switched one sound in the game to another that is already in the game. As it stands, I still haven’t found anything that definitively explains how to port sounds into tww2. The modding infrastructure for it doesn’t seem to exist yet (If anyone knows/has found anything to the contrary, PLEASE let me know).

I feel the gun sounds also sounds weak in the game :/
I'd like to change it to the ones like in Darthmod from Napoleon or Empire.

Would you mind teach or link me somewhere how to change audio in the game?

Yes it's save game compatible. You may get an error if you remove the mod mid game and try load a save game from the main screen menu, but you can just click continue and then save when you load in.

But that can happen with any mod.

@xXMitzuhideXx It depends. If the mod unit uses a “missile_weapon” from the base game (and that weapon is a crossbow) then yes it will work. If the mod unit in question has an associated weapon custom made for it as a part of the mod, then it won’t work.

I didn’t add a new sound, I just used a different one that is already in the game somewhere (bow_large). Although I’m hoping to find a way around the sound limitation in the future (assuming it doesn’t break some weird copyright thing to do so)

Sturm are you on discord? There is the audio type for huntmarshal, wulfhart, sisters, glade captain and talon of dusk that are bow_LH, I don't know what that sounds like.

Either way. I've went though SFO's 4 missle tables and removed everything that isn't anywhere near a box or xbow, and have types the tables so they should be good to go. All you should need to do is set the ones you want and delete the rest :)

(I don't know why I am not actually playing the game) haha :p

OK, so yeah I apologise as it was late when I had a look at it last night. It's strange though it kinda looks like SFO doesn't have bugman rangers, and have renamed them to wh_dwf_crossow_bolt_ranger and wh_dwf_crossow_bolt_ranger1, which is obviously why the bugman are still using the original sound.

Hey, I don't know if this was asked before, but how did you give them a new sound? I thought warhammer doesn't allow you to add your own sounds into the game. These sound a lot better than the vanilla crossbows; but I don't remember hearing this sound anywhere in the game.

Ahh yeah I guess any units added by sfo wouldn't be in your vanilla list.

But otherwise I only tested empire xbow as if it didn't crash for them, the rest should be OK for any that were in your list, as the tables were the same.

It was almost midnight when I was testing it and had work at 8am :)

@=[NK]= Col. Jack O'Neil When you ran your test, what units did you try? Slasher is saying the sound works for some units in sfo, but doesn't apply to certain units (when you modify the load order through "!")

How come it's not compatible? It looks like the table that sfo and this edits is just needing to be set to large_bow? I have a brief look and the other settings were the same for that table?

Hey, i have tested it and found some issues...

Empire crossbow works. On the dwarf side only normal crossbow but no ranger/bugmans.

Dark elves works only for darkshards with shield and normal shades but no weapon variants.

No, I just messed around with sounds that are already in the game. This one was labeled as bow_large or something (I think it may be the ushabti great bow sound effect but I’m not positive). Regardless, it really does sound like it was made for a crossbow :D

Yeah so simply changing your table to !thudding_crossbows_core makes it load before SFO's audio types. It's just your bow_large is different from theres. You should be able to just reupload this one with the change and it will be compatible
