That did not work for me, it again stopped working. Also, top of mod list, and have tried only using that specific mod.
moderatelyfatbastard 18 Oct, 2023 @ 4:45am
You need to go to land and then it will add the experience.
Nightsbane 26 Aug, 2023 @ 1:32pm
Don't know why it's not working for me
Romana 25 May, 2023 @ 3:43am
Thanks for this!
Xicsess 7 Feb, 2023 @ 9:56am
Huh, that kind of makes sense, thank you.
Injin 7 Feb, 2023 @ 5:56am
This worked for me, then it didn't, then it worked again, then it didn't.

I simply could not work out what was happening but eventually I think I got it.

Level ALL your characters.

Afaict what happens is unlevelled characters who take part in the ship battles mess up the xp allocation somehow so it doesn't work and having them all levelled fixes it.
Xicsess 19 Jan, 2023 @ 1:05pm
uh, I tried to initiate a couple of ship combats to make sure the issue wasn't going directly to boarding and it didn't seem to help.
Xicsess 18 Jan, 2023 @ 3:40pm
I did put it at the top of my mod manager for priority, v.5.......04 (game version) and reinstalled after putting it in the top priority in the mod manager.
Xicsess 18 Jan, 2023 @ 3:20pm
Also not getting xp, tried a ship battle (boarding) when I left port maje. Went into the cabin of my ship, and came back up - no change (9284 xp at start and end of battle). I'm using the most recent version of the game with the following mods (installed through workshop): Level cap 33, Universal Aptitudes, beginner ring, FG soulbound upgrade, Trinkets, Heroic Origins, and ship battles give actor exp.
VexImmortalis 9 Jan, 2023 @ 2:24am
this mod is a grinding life saver
hamishian 11 Nov, 2022 @ 3:23pm
For me the xp is added to my characters once I land on shore. So it appears to not work at first.
Tmaster 9 Oct, 2022 @ 5:09am
If the mod is not working for you reinstall and then put it at the top in the mod manager. It should work then.
Arbadacarba 7 Oct, 2022 @ 2:54pm
im just shocked to learn you dont get XP for ship battles
Thron 6 Oct, 2022 @ 4:55pm
Doesn't work for me either, tried everything including manually installing and only running this mod all by itself. Appreciate the effort though.
Simon Bar Sinister 24 Jun, 2022 @ 3:52am
Doesn't work for me. Never get any experience. ;(
Endless 11 Mar, 2022 @ 7:46am
Yay! Essentially adding random encounters. Lack of random encounters giving xp was one of the biggest hurdles keeping me from fully enjoying this beautiful game.
heldoh 31 Dec, 2021 @ 3:00am
thanks a lot

Thanks for the mod

Thanks for the solution provided @Scientific Hobbit.
Degustador de Lolis 10 Nov, 2021 @ 4:35pm
Yes! That was it, no idea what was happening before but that fixed it for me too, thanks!
Scientific Hobbit 8 Nov, 2021 @ 2:15pm
So I managed to get it to work by moving it out of the folder that the workshop defaulted it to, and placed it into the "override" folder as if I manually downloaded and installed from somewhere else. Don't know why that fixed it for me but it did.
Degustador de Lolis 7 Nov, 2021 @ 6:48pm
Yeah, doesn't work for me either, tried many things including having only this mod in my load order, didn't work.
Scientific Hobbit 21 Oct, 2021 @ 5:03pm
I'm still not able to get this to work. I have tried boarding from the encounter window and after starting naval combat, and no xp after docking. I'm running the latest version of the game, and I have no other mods that alter xp given nor ships. So I'm doubtful it's a conflicting mod.
Driftwood Gaming  [author] 14 Sep, 2021 @ 9:37am
Entering the 'board ship' map and exiting should grant exp. Some people were saying you need to do the ship combat once before it starts working, but I don't see why that would have to happen.
Person 27 Aug, 2021 @ 12:14am
Hello, I really liked this mod, thank you for creating it.
I had a bit of trouble figuring out that you needed to enter the ship combat before boarding, but after that it seemed to work.
F1tgal911 23 Aug, 2021 @ 1:12pm
Ok...
1. Go into naval battle (NOT directly "board ship"!)
2. Do ship battle or go directly board ship
3. Go to a port (e.g. Port Maje)
4. You get the XP
F1tgal911 23 Aug, 2021 @ 12:49pm
WTH...it stopped working again while it was working yesterday perfectly...?!?
F1tgal911 22 Aug, 2021 @ 4:47pm
Ok, it works.
1. Go into naval battle (NOT directly "board ship"!)
2. Do ship battle or go directly board ship
3. Win --> you get the XP

Thx for the mod!

What I am really looking for is a mod to give crew members more experience and also heal faster from injuries.
sherkfung 13 Aug, 2021 @ 12:24am
Oh, I'm using only "remove the cap of level" btw
sherkfung 12 Aug, 2021 @ 4:41pm
Patch 5.0, it's strange cause I have never seen other versions like 5.x...
Driftwood Gaming  [author] 12 Aug, 2021 @ 7:07am
You may have another mod that's causing an incompatibility. You have to go from ship battle to world map to ship battle to world map in that order to make it work. If you're using codes to jump from battle to battle it won't clear the global switch and only award exp the first time. What version of the game are you using?
sherkfung 12 Aug, 2021 @ 2:41am
Another MOD of "remove the cap of level" works, I've a level 21 character now, hope this helps.
sherkfung 12 Aug, 2021 @ 2:40am
Running on windows, latest version (Just reinstalled it), I checked the XP before and after the battle also entering and exiting the world map, no change I'm afraid. So how about a couple of ship battles continuously? Should I be rewarded every time I start a new ship battle?
Driftwood Gaming  [author] 11 Aug, 2021 @ 11:10pm
That's interesting sherkfung, I'm not sure of the issue but I'll look into it. What version of the game are you using? Are you sure it's not giving your party EXP? It won't say in the battle menu, but if you press "C" during the fight, check your party's exp then press "C" after the fight(on the world map) you should notice that it gives you 1000 XP. I've actually only tested on the most up to date version of the game, (5.x) but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with most or all versions. I'm basically checking the previous map with a couple of GameHook scripts. So if you fight a ship battle, the next map you load into should award the 1k XP. Then a global toggle gets turned on, which gets turned back of when you enter and exit the world map.
sherkfung 11 Aug, 2021 @ 10:27pm
Sad, still not working. Is it specified to ship type/battle type/ship level/port city/language? No message from the log.
Driftwood Gaming  [author] 11 Aug, 2021 @ 7:23pm
It should work immediately no matter if you load a game or make a new one. At the end of ship combat it won't look any different, but if you exit the battle and then dock at a port you will see a "Party gained 1000 XP" message in the log.
sherkfung 11 Aug, 2021 @ 6:45pm
Exactly em looking for, however, does it work now? Or it must be launched before the main character is created? I subed it while it is not working on my laptop.
