Thank you Zaffus! you're a goddamn hero!
Zaffus 26 Sep @ 9:52am
For anyone who doesn't mind updating this mod themselves, you need to find and replace the following lines in 2565899200/defs/ThingDefs_Buildings/ReinforcedStructures.xml -

<placingDraggableDimensions>1</placingDraggableDimensions>

With this line -

<drawStyleCategory>Walls</drawStyleCategory>

And update the version number in about.xml, if the yellow text bugs you.

Looking for an update to this wonderful mod, its got all the good stuff in one place!
ALskee 13 Jul @ 8:55am
update 1.6?
Pers 29 Apr @ 6:52am
Nice design!
There doesn't seem to be an Autodoor, are there any plans to add one?
Cousin Nic  [author] 28 Apr @ 7:55am
@MannenMyten, thank you for the welcome feedback and pointing out this issue, oddly enough I have not tried to place the wall light on these walls yet, which is odd considering how much i use those lights!

from a quick glance I believe i see the issue though, I will try to find time to get it sorted today.
MannenMyten 27 Apr @ 5:17am
@Cousin Nic thank you for this mod, it's pretty great!
I have a minor annoyance though; that you can't put Wall Lights (mod) on the reinforced walls.
I'm guessing that nothing can be built on top of them.
So, IF you have the time to look at it, that would be great! If not, no biggie, I can live with it and put lamps on the floor!
Thank you!

Very sorry for the delay, finding a reliable career has been taking most of my time these days. As Primarch XVI said it should work just fine with 1.5. I've tested a bit already, but the only real incompatibility is that it is listed as 1.4. It will be updated as soon as the update is approved by the automated check system!
Primarch XVI 8 Aug, 2024 @ 9:26pm
This still works fine in 1.5. I just had a quick look at the XML and tested in game every way I could think of.

It will display a config error on startup saying that it's impassable but can be shot over, but that can just be ignored - it's just the game telling you that embrasures are OP.
Dr. Ben Carson 21 Jul, 2024 @ 9:12pm
please update to 1.5
PremierVader 5 May, 2024 @ 10:18am
Hello is this compatible with 1.5? I really miss this mod!
Angrysquirrel 3 May, 2024 @ 12:28pm
1.5 please.
Mr.Umbrella  29 Apr, 2024 @ 7:34pm
1.5?
Cousin Nic  [author] 5 May, 2023 @ 8:43am
@✬Rustic Fox✬ thats a pretty good idea, ill try to get to it soon
Cousin Nic  [author] 5 May, 2023 @ 8:42am
@Angrysquirrel it should block 75% of incoming fire
Angrysquirrel 30 Apr, 2023 @ 4:27pm
Would you be able to share how much incoming fire the embrasures stop? Thanks!

@✬Rustic Fox✬

Even better. The community is the most important part, after all.
✬ᛃᚨᚲᛟᛒ✬ 15 Apr, 2023 @ 12:32pm
just upload your files to github after you make patches that way the files are available for people to continue your mod if you stop and acts as a secondary offsite backup.
[+| CL rautamiekka 5 Feb, 2023 @ 4:00pm
@Cousin Nic

You should use a cloud storage, like Google Drive or MEGA (recommended for the free 50GB, and paid plans ain't exactly bad either). GD's desktop app can't be used on Linux, though.

MEGA has separate options for syncing and backupping, GD only has sync and doesn't support blacklisting of files.
PremierVader 5 Feb, 2023 @ 10:29am
Very nice thanks for the update!
Cousin Nic  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 9:30am
turns out i had a copy on my secondary drive so the mod is now updated!
Cousin Nic  [author] 1 Jan, 2023 @ 9:04am
@PremierVader @Velxra @redxlaser15 sorry for the delayed response, unfortunately i cant promise anything because the drive housing the mod died a long while ago, but ill try to recover it from steam. hopefully worst case ill just need to re-upload the whole mod
PremierVader 14 Nov, 2022 @ 7:20am
Hey man will there be an update for this mod? Im really missing the great content!
Mrohhhtrue 31 Oct, 2022 @ 7:18pm
Please Update!!
VelxraTV 21 Oct, 2022 @ 1:44pm
Please update to 1.4
redxlaser15 2 Apr, 2022 @ 12:34pm
I, too, would really like reinforced autodoors. Not a big deal overall, but would certainly be very nice. Aside from normal cost increases, you could also increase the component and power cost for the reinforced version of autodoors to balance it out or something like that.
Cousin Nic  [author] 25 Nov, 2021 @ 8:54pm
@PremierVader thanks a ton for the feedback! sorry it took a while, it took me way to long to decide on a new design.
PremierVader 25 Nov, 2021 @ 8:47pm
Hey just came by to say I really like the new textures great job man! Now they feel more solid and matches the vanilla graphics.
Cousin Nic  [author] 25 Oct, 2021 @ 10:39pm
if anyone is still waiting for an updated texture, i've been working on it. i drew multiple new designs, and they just turned out either very repetitive, or broken in game with how rimworld loads modded textures. although i think i just got one im pretty happy with. hopefully if it cleans up well i can have it out tomorrow, or at latest Wednesday.

when i update let me know if something else would work better, this texture will blend with the base walls much better than the old.
Cousin Nic  [author] 23 Oct, 2021 @ 9:17am
@PremierVader yea ill start looking into a new texture that fits in, the issue is how the game displays the textures, so anything like bolts in the original textures blocks looks like crap, ive had a couple ideas for the texture so ill work on them when i get some time. thanks for the feedback and suggestion
PremierVader 21 Oct, 2021 @ 1:46am
Hi so is there any chance of a texture update to this mod? Its a GREAT mod but some of the textures are an eyesore lol
Aquiles 1 Oct, 2021 @ 7:40am
Hello, @Cousin Nic. I enjoy your mod so much. Thanks once again. Would you considered a compatibility patch with Doors Expanded mod to allow 2x1 and 3x1 reinforced doors?
PremierVader 15 Sep, 2021 @ 12:30pm
Hey you are right the bolts going through the vanilla bricks design didnt render well in comparison to the vanilla graphics and they kinda look flimsy either ways.Yeah I would suggest trying something that goes better with vanilla style graphics or even enhances it ( like I said you can take inspiration from the reinforced walls in Vanilla Furniture Expanded: Spacer, they look very REINFORCED lol) There is also the Dwarven Reinforced walls from Lord of the Rims Dwarves mod you can look at to get an idea or come up with whatever you think is better.
Cousin Nic  [author] 11 Sep, 2021 @ 7:50am
@PremierVader thanks for your input, now i wouldn't be against updating the graphics, would you suggest changing to something that meshes with the vanilla style instead of this? my first design was actually bolts going through the vanilla bricks, but because of how rimworld blurs graphics it made the bolts look REALLY bad.
PremierVader 11 Sep, 2021 @ 5:49am
Hello this is a great mod and im loving it but it would be nice to have some better art/graphics style on the walls. If you are not an artist yourself you can request assistance from other artists on the Rimworld Mod Market. Not to criticize the mod but the current art on the reinforced walls kind of looks like an eye-sore when lots of them are made. Doesnt mesh in very well with the vanilla artstyle. For reference you can check out the art style used in the reinforced walls from Vanilla Furniture Expanded: Spacer (of course I prefer this mod to the walls from there).
metasynthetic 9 Aug, 2021 @ 6:40pm
I meant to say I'm not sure why it sometimes DIDN'T mess up your mod's walls.
metasynthetic 9 Aug, 2021 @ 6:40pm
Ok, I think I finally found the issue, with a single mod removal that worked for 2 loads in a row, I think it's this mod, Impassable Furniture: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2132654529

Not sure why it would occasionally not work but this seems to have fixed it. I guess maybe the new walls are getting tagged as furniture or something else that other mod was making passable? Anyway I removed the mod from my list as I didn't realize I even had it installed, heh. FWIW, I did try changing the load order to have your mods (this one and Tiered Concrete) be the first ones after various startup / library dependency type mods and it didn't change the behavior.
Cousin Nic  [author] 9 Aug, 2021 @ 6:34pm
@metasynthetic so i saw a similar discussion and could it be a half wall mod is attempting a half wall version of this wall with no texture difference?

and does it work when this mod is placed above the incompatible mod in the load order?
metasynthetic 9 Aug, 2021 @ 5:45pm
I spent a little more time on this, and found that sometimes the walls will work normally and sometimes they're passable, while using the same modlist. So it must be something conditional rather than a straight up incompatibility. Still testing.
Cousin Nic  [author] 9 Aug, 2021 @ 11:37am
@de Kimerült Magyar honestly I've never tried that mod, if multiplayer works by default with other mods i cant think of a reason it wouldn't, i would save before just in case, but it should run fine.

i would test but i'm headed off to work right now.
de Kimerült Magyar 9 Aug, 2021 @ 11:07am
Does this work with the multiplayer mod?
metasynthetic 9 Aug, 2021 @ 1:17am
to be clear, i dont particularly think the mods including 'carbon' in their name were responsible, i was just using their names as easy breakpoints during debugging, im using RimPy for mod management so it makes that sort of thing easy
metasynthetic 9 Aug, 2021 @ 1:14am
hey no problem, thanks for responding. i spent some time chasing it down but made some errors myself in the diagnosis step. i have a suspect list which is roughly 50 ish mods long, ill respond once i get my methodology straight and have better feedback to provide.(FWIW, i did try narrowing my mod list via binary search but got tripped up by multiple mods including 'carbon' in the name' - at this point, i dont think that is a smoking gun at all)
Cousin Nic  [author] 8 Aug, 2021 @ 7:21pm
@metasynthetic sorry i couldn't get back sooner i was at work, but i am genuinely curious whats causing it, id like this mod to work with everything so if you still want to fix it dm me your active mods or something and i can start testing.

it could be a mod that somehow alters the base structures and or how colonists react to them
Cousin Nic  [author] 8 Aug, 2021 @ 6:07pm
@metasynthetic it sounds like a mod conflict, if you cant find it i'd be great if you could send a list of the mods and i can go though, try to find the issue
metasynthetic 8 Aug, 2021 @ 4:24pm
Both the embrasure and regular reinforced walls are passable like they're not there for me, don't see anything obviously related in the log, but I'll link it at the end anyway. Worth noting is that, when I first installed it, I originally had RF Concrete installed (here https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2012397587) , then I deleted everything from that mod from my world and uninstalled it. However, the walls from that mod became passable as well when they weren't before. I made a fresh from-scratch world that never had RF Concrete installed and I was still getting the issue with the walls from this mod, however.

I'm going to keep testing to see if I can find a mod conflict and report back if I do.

I mean, that'd be cool if you have time. The author has this note about compatibility:

"compatibility isn't as much as an issue with mods that add doors, rather, its whether this mod will affect those doors. This mod affects the vanilla base def for doors. So mods that add new doors based off vanilla doors will also gain the quality stat and have their HP and opening speeds affected."
Cousin Nic  [author] 8 Aug, 2021 @ 11:22am
@Forekast i just tested it, and it runs fine with the mod,

but the "door quality" mod will not affect the new doors, i can try to work on something to make this the case if you wanted to move them like the normal doors.

Forekast 8 Aug, 2021 @ 11:01am
is this compatible with Door Quality ?
Cousin Nic  [author] 7 Aug, 2021 @ 2:34pm
A heads up to everyone using this mod, either tonight or tomorrow ill be updating it to make it more compatible with new mods ill be releasing, all that will change is EACH reinforced structure will be researched through a tree, instead of all at once. the research you completed will stay unlocked, you will keep the embrasure and reinforced wall, but the reinforced door and reinforced embrasure will move further up the tree, which will now be on a new research tab. all mod research from this pack pack i'm starting will now be on this new tab.

I'm publishing the tiered concrete mod at the same time as this update, and both will be under the new research tab. so either mod will work fine separate, but intended to be together to get the strongest walls possible
