Could someone clarify if "First Aid" and "Smart medicine" compatible or not?

First aid - adds a direct command w RMB on pawn to use first aid (basically tend command but faster and worse) only if commanded to
Smart med - overwrites the logic for overall tending or smth but uses Vanilla speed and pawns do it by automatically, so it drastically improves basic tending

To my uneducated in coding eye it looks like 2 different things, so they should be compatible, but might be conflicting since both go for other pawns inventories/do tending?

I would love to have "Smarter capture them" to be able to arrest - tend - capture pawns before they bleed to death. But it requires First aid to do so, so again I assume it should be compatible with Smart medicine?

How to use self-healing? vanilla just tooooo slow
Snuggy 15 Apr, 2024 @ 11:00pm
Personally had some jankyness when telling pawns to give first aid to downed pawns as sometimes they will just ignore your orders and give first aid to a completely different pawn. Other times it just doesnt work.

It still works like 80% of the time just fine, but it seems like theres some bugs

I've just started using more Injuries mod again. Femoral artery bleeding strongly recommended this mod.

how far will a pawn look for medicine using this mod? not much use if they're running across the map to go and get some, but you seem to have thought of that...?

Hello guys, sorry for the long silence. The issue with pawns using first aid to administer toolkits from androids and mechanical races related mods have been addressed by Taranchuk and pushed this update.

@Lurmey - Hello mate thank you for the suggestion, maybe a new feature in the future. Unfortunately, Taran who does the code for this mod is doing several other mods so it's been difficult to get new features from him. Would personally like it implemented if it weren't for the red tape.

@gamer12 - Hello mate, apologies since I'm not only a year late but I'm gonna give you a news that you probably didn't want to hear. 1.3 is no longer supported by us, I'm having a hard time as it is dealing with the 1.4 issues across all my 1.4 mods. For all I know it could be another 1.3 mod or some other old mod causing the issue, but we're too out of time to deal with old versions.

@Stellar Harbour - No, has to be commanded.

@Chicken Pluker
Could you had over to Mechanical Humanlikes Core mod and read about the last issue with it: It has a conflict with your mod: pawns are using wrong type of medicine treating biological entities when ordered to perform first aid. They are going for repair kits instead of using only medicines. Smart Medicine had the very same issue with previous iteration of this android-related mod ( Android Tiers Reforged ) and managed to patch its method of picking the medicine for the job with the type of pawn in mind: standard medicines for biological entities and repair kits for mechanical entities. Could you please investigate the solution and implement it for your First Aid Mod?

@Lurmey
You can use mod "Down for me" or something similar
Lurmey 18 May, 2023 @ 12:35pm
Hey Chicken Plucker, any chance of being able to perform first aid on non-downed but otherwise injured pawns? My game has a lot of trouble with drafted tending not using any medicine in inventory, so this would be very helpful for me.

Thanks :)

Sasha Pines (no brain) 22 Jan, 2023 @ 9:11pm
no you still have to manually tell them to do that
Stellar Harbour 11 Dec, 2022 @ 10:04am
Does pawns tend downed pawns by themselves with this?
Chicken Plucker  [author] 10 Nov, 2022 @ 4:54am
@benjigaara - Hey my friend! Happy you're enjoying the mod. The chance for scars are disconnected to the extra tending feature my friend, the game decides. I believe it depends how bad the wound is, how fast it healed and whether or not your storyteller decides it should be a scar.

I could take the suggestion and implement it, however it will be incredibly risky to commission the coder to do because it can result in several bugs or conflicts that will inflate the cost of hiring the coder, so I'd rather keep the mod simple my friend. Highly appreciate the suggestion though, thank you!
Spaykers 10 Nov, 2022 @ 4:03am
i Chicken Plucker ! Great mod ! I am using it since a wile now and i can't complain about the "unbalanced" it bring to the base game since the game is prety much not forgiving at all so it bring some justice for me X) . But, can i suggest to you something to add -> a high chance of having a scar . I mean , tending on the spot can't be a good job. For the story telling sake , it could bring something to your game play to see that the guy you tended on the verge of death have now a scar on his leg because the wound was extreme .

1.4 - Updated, fixed issue with errors appearing when healing animals.

@Miltera
@Inglix - Hello. Pardon me for the late reply, I've been working to no end. Now I'm back to updating, let me address some of the things you've written.

0.25 is equals to 25%. Its not 400%. 400 would be 4.0 in the code. I've gone to Discord and asked a few people who know C# and they've confirmed me to be right in that regard, because I wanted to know if I've been reading it wrong based on your comment.

So no, it doesn't make tending 400% faster, it makes it 125% faster. Where it can go up to 200% is if the pawn's ability is high enough (i.e. 20 medicine) to allow that.

With that said, you can still argue you find it unbalanced, fair enough. It's a mod, it's never going to reach vanilla standard of balance unless it's added in vanilla already. I'm satisfied with how the mod works as is. In summary, it doesn't let you tend 4 times the normal tend speed. 0.25 is 25%, not 400%. That number is way off.
feitochan 22 Oct, 2022 @ 11:48am
Just an FYI for those still using 1.3 because of mods that haven't been updated for patch 1.4, you'll have to sort the activation and order of this mod manually and use the load anyway option when loading a save after this mod updated as the game will think that the mod isn't available and needs to be downloaded if you try to load the mod list from the save.
Windy 17 Aug, 2022 @ 7:44am
First aid seems to be disabled when drafted. Is this intentional or a bug?
Milterator 1 Jun, 2022 @ 5:36pm
+1 to Inglix's post. Wish I could balance it myself
Inglix 19 May, 2022 @ 5:51am
The mod description appears to be incorrect based on how the code is actually written. The tend duration is actually multiplied by 0.25, making it 4 times faster than normal tending, and not "200% faster". The tend quality is multiplied by 0.75, meaning you lose 25% of your tend quality, so that part of the description is accurate.

In its current state this feels quite overpowered. Being able to tend at 4 times the normal speed while the tend quality remains at 75% of its normal level is incredibly good. In my opinion it would make more sense if both values were multiplied by the same factor, so that tending at 4 times the normal speed would only give you one quarter of the normal tend quality.

Just to let people know that the reason maybe this mod is not working is LTO colony groups interfering with it has its interfering with other mod with similar functionality

@Coolchilion - Hello, pardon the late reply, been incredibly busy. Seeing as your report involves present reports, I've tested the mod on a raider and a downed animal here:

https://imgur.com/a/LwZXNEJ

I can't replicate what's been reported in a test, so I'm assuming it's a mod conflict. The issue with that is, the mod seems to be working as it should be, and when another mod gives it problems, I have to know what it is. If I find out what mod it is, I'll list it in the incompatibilities
Chicken Plucker  [author] 8 Jan, 2022 @ 8:49pm
@NylonWorms - I'm leaving it disabled as an option for beds because I feel it will just overshadow normal treatments if everyone wants to rush and spam first aid use. The whole point of the mod was for it to be available in emergencies
