Mexicans can't melt rocks, the Alamo was an inside job. Investigate the Alamo.

REMEMBER THE... shit what was it?

Fuck yeah Texas

Secondly, in this mod the Alamo is represented perfectly. After the Battle of the Alamo, Texan troops became VERY patriotic about their brethren's valiant defense there. Any mention of the Alamo in battle would make soldiers strive to achieve a feat of equal valiance.

Honestly the defense bonus could be lowered in return for culture. For me the Alamo is the heart and soul of Texan history and pride.
Maybe 4 Defense and 6 Culture

Im reading some of these comments and jesus christ, why do people judge us so much?

Firstly, of all the states that joined the CSA, Texas was one of the most conflicted when making this descision. Most Texans are either recent immigrants from Mexico or primarily German and Irish immigrants who came here awhile ago due to pressure from the Mexican government. Cultures blended and the Tejanos decided that they are now different form Mexico, so they declared independance. In Texas not alot of rascism existed in the more settled areas (Coastal Plains in particular). While is the more country-like areas, slaves were needed to do all the farm work. All of Texas had a strong Southern and independant identity.

Thank you for making this, I will download as soon as I get BNW. I wonder if there is a Texas civ mod that i could use with this...

As a resident of San Antonio, I thank you! Le me know if there is a G&K version
EbichuM 7 May, 2014 @ 8:03pm
When I was little, my parents took me to the Alamo. But I was so young I have no memories of that trip. So, I don't remember the Alamo.

Yes, I stole it from Christine.
mavrick501 7 May, 2014 @ 5:46am
It is a Mission not a Fort and 180 Texans defended this mission for 13 days. They faced 2000 Mexican troops. The Legendary Davy Crockett was one of the Commanders as well as Willam Travis and Jim Bowie.
mavrick501 7 May, 2014 @ 5:39am
WOOT!! I was finally heard!!! The Alamo is here!!! LONG LIVE TEXAS!!!!
ClamMasterFlash 5 May, 2014 @ 10:41pm
I can't believe that they would forget to add the Alamo to the game!
The New Girl 5 May, 2014 @ 10:40pm
It ought to come with a new unit as well: Big Tex Death Robot

"Does it also allow people fighting for the right to keep slaves to rewrite history and add happiness?"

Quoting this.
oobi 5 May, 2014 @ 8:10pm
Over powered, perhaps.....?
Giggity Toilet 5 May, 2014 @ 6:56pm
Alright mod, although the stats are a bit much IMO. I would adopt Moondog's idea and maybe change the promotion to a limited number of turns following its construction.

@Lint Boy: What other historical location hasn't been monetized? History attracts tourists, and tourists bring money. The Alamo is no exception.
Theodamus 5 May, 2014 @ 5:16pm
@Lint Boy lol this shouldn't even be a wonder its just some small -ass fort which the texans lost after encroaching upon mexican territory. Remember the alamo, well neither do i.
Spooky Ougi of Cute 5 May, 2014 @ 1:38pm
OP as my mom
metroman 5 May, 2014 @ 1:35pm
Why is 'Rifling' the requirement? The majority of small arms were still smoothbore muskets in that timeframe.
Moondog548 5 May, 2014 @ 1:05pm
Great mod! The only suggestion I'd make is to knock it back down to just a free armory in the city that built it. Everything else seems perfect!
Tyranophallus Rex 5 May, 2014 @ 1:05pm
Does it also come with a Wendys, Pizza Hut and Ripleys Believe It or Not accross the street like the real one? Does it give an economic bonus from the sale of coon skin caps and snow globes like the real Alamo, as well?
The New Girl 5 May, 2014 @ 11:22am
Nationalism = Democratic values
Kramer  [author] 5 May, 2014 @ 8:19am
I intend to further reduce the defensive bonus as well with the next update (8 is more than half of the Red Fort's defensive strength :skulls:), but this also represents the legacy of the Battle of the Alamo, as opposed to the defensive capabilities of the Alamo itself. The way Texans have greatly taken up arms, and their lasting nationalistic pride.
alpha2117 5 May, 2014 @ 5:45am
Does it also allow people fighting for the right to keep slaves to rewrite history and add happiness?
Traffic Conez 5 May, 2014 @ 4:09am
I'm not sure if I could compare the Alamo to the likes of the Great Wall of China or the Kremlin....
JEELEN 4 May, 2014 @ 10:59pm
Seeing as the Alamo was largely ineffective even as a fort, it hardly qualifies as a World Wonder - providing 2 culture and 8 defense no less....
Thing35 4 May, 2014 @ 1:37pm
I will always remember this mod
loxO_o 4 May, 2014 @ 1:08am
I would go for the first option.
3d-model would be awesome!
the grand dreamer 3 May, 2014 @ 5:02pm
If you left it the way it is it would pretty much make wars one sided in favour of the person who built it.
Kramer  [author] 3 May, 2014 @ 6:44am
Yeah, I'm contemplating one of the following possible changes:
Provides a free Armory in the city in which is it built. All melee units receive the Remember The Alamo! promotion.
Or, the more popular one:
Provides a free Armory in all cities. Melee units trained in this city receive the Remember The Alamo! promotion.
And word on the street is that someone has a Mission model for Civ 5, so who knows, we may get a 3D model in the next update, too.
loxO_o 3 May, 2014 @ 6:33am
I agree with Oogadaaa, too OP if every city can spew out units with that promotion. Only the city where it was built should be able too give promotion.
the grand dreamer 3 May, 2014 @ 5:07am
It appears I left out the word "city" in my original post.
Honestly that sounds kind of overpowered, I think it would be more balanced if the promotion was given only to units trained in the city where the wonder was built, eh.
Kramer  [author] 3 May, 2014 @ 5:02am
The heavy charge is applied to all Melee and Gun-based units, excluding Cavalry, Tanks, and naval units.
the grand dreamer 3 May, 2014 @ 4:54am
Quick question, is the heavy charge just in the it was built in, or all?
DerpenWolf 2 May, 2014 @ 4:54pm
does any mexican based civ automaticly aquire it after 1863 AD?
Ramblin' Bob 1 May, 2014 @ 4:06pm
OOOH!!! i shall download this mod!
Chloe 1 May, 2014 @ 2:43pm
Being from the Texas area, I appreciate this being added. Glad to see more historical wonders being added. :D
lshipp 30 Apr, 2014 @ 8:15pm
And I always like me some new added audio
lshipp 30 Apr, 2014 @ 8:15pm
I took a quick look at the GK promotion table defines and didn't see the HeavyCharge function there so I'm thinking it will only be good for BNW, as you thought.
