@Mr. Shadow | Folfie
Oh, Argòn and I are willing to start a collaboration soon. Maybe it will be involved about merging our Salads Mods too, we'll see.

Meanwhile, since I'm planning to return to do Rimworld modding, I think I will update this mod too soon. I haven't done it before because I noticed Argòn's mod was more used than mine. I've taken account of all your reports, don't worry, so when I will update it I will do a good job!
Mr. Shadow | Folfie 24 Aug, 2024 @ 8:11am
I hope that you'll be able to update this one day. I prefer your version more than Argon's
Da_Stonee 18 Jun, 2024 @ 5:37pm
oh no! ngl i was a big fan of this mod </3

thanks for supporting it so far :)
The Manual  [author] 19 Apr, 2024 @ 2:11am
@everyone

First and foremost, I'll ask you sorry for haven't mantained this mod. I'm currently heavily involved with my work and I couldn't find time to go to the XML and fix the code.

As second...
As you noticed, RimWorld has just updated to 1.5 version. Since this mod hasn't RimWorld graphics and I think most of users are using Argon's Salads mod, I'm not planning to update this mod to version 1.5 right now.
The reason is that I don't think this mod is used by so many people in their playthroughs.

But if you're still interested to play with this mod enabled, please let me know in the comments and if you will be enough I'll do my best to properly fix and update this mod, and I hope to improve it if possible (no promises by me, it's a remote possibility).

Thanks for understanding and subscribed this mod so far.
Da_Stonee 17 May, 2023 @ 6:48pm
Yeah dont worry :) take your time
The Manual  [author] 17 May, 2023 @ 1:59pm
@Da_Stonee

Yeah, another user has noticed that issue some time ago. I'm currently working on the development of another project and unfortunately I can't mantain this mood as well as I used to do, but when I'll manage to have some time I'll fix every issue that you have spotted.
Please apologize me until this moment and be patient, I'll fix and improve this mod ASAP. Thanks for understanding.
Da_Stonee 17 May, 2023 @ 5:25am
Hey uh i noticed that the xenotype gene "scarless" causes the Healthy buff to be automatically healed away. Can you maybe look into that if there is a way to fix this?
The Manual  [author] 27 Oct, 2022 @ 10:11am
@Anarith the olives of my mod are a different plant, and they are patched to have a different name when you're using both my mod and Sarg's "VPE - More Plants" mod.

My olives have low nutritional value, so they aren't good in cooking. They are primarly used to make my personal condiment "olive oil".

VPE olives are normal raw food, with standard nutritional value.
Anarith 26 Oct, 2022 @ 9:27pm
Are the olives from this mod redundant with the olives from vanilla plants expanded, or are they the same plant?

@everyone

Salads for VCE has just been updated to version 1.4

Enjoy
The Manual  [author] 24 Oct, 2022 @ 12:39pm
@everyone

Soon this mod will be updated to version 1.4, I'll do the update ASAP.

Thank you for your waiting.
The Manual  [author] 28 Jul, 2022 @ 5:12pm
@Da_Stonee I had to remove it because pawns didn't eat salads by themselves, but you had to force them.

Looks like when a pawn chooses his meal, it consider various parameters, such as nutritional value and mood buffs/debuffs.

Testing the mod in my games, it turned out that pawns ate pemmican and even smoked meat (VFE - Medieval) rather than salads. This could be annoying for players who don't create custom food policies and stuff.

However, the mood buff I setted is very low, and basing on my testing results I'm considering to furtherly lower it to avoid easy exploits. Balancing is, alas, a tricky thing to be done sometimes.
Da_Stonee 28 Jul, 2022 @ 11:56am
Was it really necessary to remove the mood debuff from salads? I thought that was the whole point of the balancing - you trade a mood debuff for better stats.
Coolchilion 28 Jun, 2022 @ 3:37pm
I do believe this mod has a lot more going for it. If people just like the art they could just copy and paste the art from the other mod into a local copy they made of your mod.

Or may be Argon may give permission to use their art but I doubt that.
The Manual  [author] 28 Jun, 2022 @ 3:25pm
@Coolchillon Yeah, I learned that very early, when I saw that my mod didn't reach the success it deserved, because the idea was fresh and the features I implemented worth the effort.
Coolchilion 28 Jun, 2022 @ 3:22pm
I believe one the reasons Argon's mod became so popular is the art. In that it fits more in with vanilla. I believe that if the mod had better art it would certainly reach more people.
The Manual  [author] 29 May, 2022 @ 6:19am
@Da_Stonee It was intentional, because I originally created two types of salad mixes: one that could use cereal (like corn and rice) and one that couldn't.

In a previous update I deleted the cereal salad mix, and I forgot to update the normal salad mix's recipe.

I'll fix this in a while. Thanks for your warning.
Da_Stonee 27 May, 2022 @ 7:31am
Hey, I really like this mod, it´s a nice addition to rimworld and therefor i have a question: Is it intentional, that you cannot use corn to craft salad mixes?
The Manual  [author] 23 Oct, 2021 @ 11:38am
"Salads for VCE" has just been updated. This new major update would be never possible without the precious help of new developer Android.

Some things like descriptions and balancing are still to be made, but for now you have a new crop and a new condiment. Enjoy it.
ELLIOTTCABLE on Discord 23 Jul, 2021 @ 11:02am
Heh, you're the most driven modder out here on the Workshop, giving deadlines to commenters like we're paying you or something.

Keep up the good work, fam. <3
D.Cub3d 22 Jul, 2021 @ 10:09am
Thanks, appreciate it. And take your time, it's not that big of a deal. Your hediff is a positive one, where the VCE ones are negative hediffs.
The Manual  [author] 22 Jul, 2021 @ 8:13am
Yes, you didn't say this. It was me that didn't understand and I wrote that thing, because I intended as it.

Since you're not the only one that has asked me this, I'll submit a mod where "healthy" hediff will be replaced. Check out the workshop in next hour, I'm going to start working right now.

(P.S: If I don't post anyhing in the next 24 hours is because I'm having some problem with my PC).
D.Cub3d 22 Jul, 2021 @ 7:25am
I dont think I said anything about playing without hediffs. I like the mod as it currently exists, but I turn off the health hediffs from Vanilla Cooking Expanded (Diabetes and High Cholestoral iirc).
The Manual  [author] 22 Jul, 2021 @ 7:03am
As I said in a previous comment, a mod option requires some coding, which I can't do it because I don't know how to do it. When I'll learn it, I'll try to add it.

For now, all I can do is to submit a copy of the mod without the "healthy" hediff.

But I still didn't understand what do you mean for "playing without hediffs". Please, tell me: do you want a hediff like grills (-25% to -35% hunger rate multiplier), or no hediffs at all?
D.Cub3d 21 Jul, 2021 @ 8:37am
Would love to see a submod or a mod option to toggle the healthy hediff.

This looks great though, thanks
The Manual  [author] 19 Jul, 2021 @ 5:37am
Here's a note.

This mod will be updated on Tuesday, 20, instead of Monday, 19. There's also some fix that's going to come. Most important, a fix to Fine, Lavish and Gourmet salads.

I forgot to set a min Cooking skill for recipes, as it is for vanilla meals. So I will set it in next update, along with compatibility with Rimworld 1.3 and other.

Here's the last chance to make plenty of Lavish salads with your "level 2 cooks". Don't miss it.
WarKittyKat 18 Jul, 2021 @ 2:56pm
Enjoying it so far! Lucky spoiled colonists getting fresh blueberry salads every day. They eat better than I do. Looking forward to see what you do with it.
The Manual  [author] 17 Jul, 2021 @ 3:17pm
Sure. I've planned next update for Rimworld 1.3 release, that will be this monday, if I've read right.

Anyway, in the next update I will put also this in:

-Salad mixes x5;

Bear in mind that as I will expand this mod (not this days, sorry), i will also fix Lavish and Gourmet salad recipes to be a bit more difficult to craft, for balancing reasons. For now, however, I will do just the updates above mentioned. Just a little tip for the future...

I hope you will enjoy this mod, as well as other players.
WarKittyKat 17 Jul, 2021 @ 2:16pm
Just as a request, would you consider adding bulk production options for salad mixes?
The Manual  [author] 17 Jul, 2021 @ 10:38am
Yes, that was not clear, i will rewrite that part in a clearer way.

I was mean that it will not work with chronic hediffs . Those ones added by Vanilla Cooking Expanded, like diabetes or high blood pressure , that are given by eating certain foods like desserts or deep-fried food.

Vanilla Cooking Expanded's "toggle button" works only with its own chronic hediffs. Other chronic hediffs (I repeat, those ones that a pawn gains by eating certain foods and meals) added by mods like this one can't be disabled.

As conclusion, If a mod works with Vanilla Cooking Expanded, it will continue to work even with this mod installed. This mod just adds four new meals and a new health condition. It has a dependency to VCE because it uses part of its code.
TheSmilingLord 17 Jul, 2021 @ 7:00am
I am not sure what was meant by not working with other hediff changing mods, will it work with most mods that work with vanilla cooking expanded?
WarKittyKat 16 Jul, 2021 @ 1:12pm
Thanks for the tips! It's working now. I have variety matters installed and was looking for some more multi-ingredient munchies to feed my colonists.
The Manual  [author] 16 Jul, 2021 @ 10:37am
For fine, lavish and gourmet salad you need to craft salad mixes in addition at using simple vegetables.

You can find the salad mixes recipe in the cooking stove (either fueled or electric). There are two types of salad mix:

-Vegetables salad mix (0.25 raw vegetarian, not corn or rice);
-Cereal salad mix (5 units of rice or corn);

When you crafted some of them, you can cook your fine/lavish/gourmet salads.
You can use one or the other of them, for now. I'm going to fix some recipe that I wrote bad.

By the way, if you want to know what ingredients you need in game, for all recipes, you can try the following mod:

Common sense
WarKittyKat 15 Jul, 2021 @ 9:11pm
Do you know what ingredients are supposed to be allowed? I'm getting a message "need ingredients" when I try to make the fine or lavish salad. I have quite a variety of food available and I selected allow all but it still won't let me make anything other than simple salads.
The Manual  [author] 9 Jul, 2021 @ 1:57pm
Ok, fixed backgrounds.

Again thanks a lot, test.
The Manual  [author] 9 Jul, 2021 @ 9:51am
Nope, I tried as you said, but nothing has changed.

Comments section is becoming cluttered due to this topic, so if you like it i would like to move on to the discord/discussion workshop forum.

I'm gonna create a topic named "Help with images". Maybe someone else could help me.

Anyway, thanks for all. You deserved a place in "special thanks" section of this mod. If not now, check it on next days, when I will (for sure) update it.
test 9 Jul, 2021 @ 9:10am
idk what dnspy does but it is also open source. You can even use GIMP commercially, there are no restrictions.
The Manual  [author] 9 Jul, 2021 @ 9:05am
Something like "dnSPY"?
test 9 Jul, 2021 @ 8:59am
its free and open source, there is no licensing
The Manual  [author] 9 Jul, 2021 @ 8:52am
I found "GIMP", it's a free images editor software. But I don't know it. I would like to know (browsing on the web) how it works, license agreement and stuff before using it.

Anyway, thanks (again) a lot.
test 9 Jul, 2021 @ 7:40am
https://dropmefiles.com/JtEhZ here is how it looks even with current artwork
test 9 Jul, 2021 @ 7:28am
you can try gimp, to remove background use the magic wand tool and click on the white background and click delete. Also you can try shadow and median filter, I am a terrible artist but I use them a lot and they work really well for mimicing rimworld style
The Manual  [author] 7 Jul, 2021 @ 7:48am
Thank you for your suggestions.

For screenshots it's ok, I will work ASAP about it at my best, even if my best is really bad...

About the toggle... I think Vanilla Cooking Expanded has an option about it. I don't know, however, if it works even on added health-condition. If it's not, it will require some coding, which I (for now) can't do it. In case i will eventually publish a mod with no health conditions or something like grills meal-type. Which one do you prefer?

Finally, I never used Variety Matters, so I will start some testing. But maybe it's not possible to create recipes with "duplicated" categories (example: for "fine salad", "0,25 vegetarian" and "0.25 vegetarian"). I remember that was not possible, that's why I used the salad mix system. Howewer, I will try again, maybe I'm wrong, but I can't promise nothing about it, sorry.
ELLIOTTCABLE on Discord 6 Jul, 2021 @ 2:28pm
A screenshot of even the temporary art would be a great add. Also, a toggle for the health-condition would be choice - I'm primarily interested in having a new mealtype for my Vegetarian / Vegan / Thrumkin colonists, so VarietyMatters doesn't drive them insane! :steamhappy:
