could you re-add burying barrels? it was such a neat little feature especially for dedicated servers.

-Boat AI is meant for enemy boats, but its not implemented yet.
I have not worked on the mod in a long while due to working on other things.

Few questions (after sniffing through mods to see what's giving what items)
-What's the purpose of Empty Message Bottles?
-Do Dubloons still not have a use?
-Is the "Boat Brain" mentioned in the comments implemented, and if so, is it just mob AI for boats or an item(I really wanted to make a mobile boat base :hotkepa: )?

Treasure hunts unfortunately are going to be a major feature of the mod. Once I add other methods of obtaining treasure maps, I could make it a config option of whether or not they spawn in barrels.

They spawn pretty commonly. I only don't really want the treasure hunts personally. I think the barrels themselves are okay

What type of monsters can it catch that don't include spiders or frogs?

It will capture any mob that isn't a giant or "large creature", its implementation was more for concept rather than any meaningful use.

This question is long overdue, but I've got an inquiry over the monster barrel. Does it catch more monsters than a regular rabbit trap would? Because we can pick up live spiders from them now. Why choose your modded barrel over a trap? Thanks.

It will not be like SW/Moon Quay maps where there will be a visible marker, dig exactly where the X is on the map and should dig up the treasure.

The treasure maps in the sinking barrels will mark locations on my map, but when I go there, there isn't anything for me to do/dig up. The marker stays on the map though

Sea of Thieves is fun and all but it sucks up a lot of the day and isn't really that much fun alone. All my friends kinda just quit it.

Also, if your want to start modding again is reinvigorated, what vision do you have so far for the AI ships? Smarter monkeys (able to use your barrels)? Pig pirates? A new mob altogether?

You didn't word it wrong. You misunderstood what I replied with, I am thinking about using the finished boat AI and stuff for this mod, the real question is when I choose to do it as I've been suffering from burn out in DST modding. Maybe soon, maybe not.

I don't know, I don't play Tropical Experience. My plan was to possibly make use of klei's scrapped boat 'brain' and just make a boat manned by mobs. This ofc is just stuff I have planned and make no promises on what will be done with this mod or not.

They sort of have that in one of the Shipwrecked-like mods. I think it was called Tropical Experience? There's rafts with Merms dressed in pirate cloths. Unfortunately they don't move but it's still there.

Well I suppose I'm the only one, although it seems a little strange to allow sinking of other players' ships while disallowing actual combat between them. There's a perfectly good blunderbuss and bomb mod for that.

bigger range than gunpowder, does damage equal to 3 gunpowder with the cost of two, and it makes ships go boom. It'll hopefully have more use in ship v ship combat with future updates.
