i wanna drink the water
BaRa.95. 5. juli 2022 kl. 21:24
Oooh so it was on purpose. Well guess I need to figure out of my PC is just overheating or there is more to it. Thank you for quick response :)
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 5. juli 2022 kl. 18:46
BaRa.95, thanks for visiting. I'm afraid I can't tell you why the game lags on your PC. I built the map on a PC that would be laughed at today (2-core Athlon 64, WinXP, 4 gigs RAM). It runs fine on my HP Pavilion 15 Gaming notebook.

I don't like it when I have to die and reload the game because of a skill failure. So, I made it so that if you fall in the water you don't die, you just have to climb out, but your portals close and you can't shoot any new ones.
BaRa.95. 5. juli 2022 kl. 8:46
I am also able to swim in the goo somehow
BaRa.95. 5. juli 2022 kl. 8:45
Its so heavy on my PC and it's pretty good one. Any reason why it is? My game laggs as I move mouse.
Grauerrat 17. dec. 2020 kl. 12:50
@Bayram thx fpr your so support, but i am to slow, to old to lame. ...but, nice map.
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 16. dec. 2020 kl. 19:08
Grauerrat, thanks for visiting. It's a complicated map with a difficult puzzle at the core, so if you're not enjoying it you should move on. Try pressing the button that makes the puzzles easier and taking a tour of the observation chambers to look at the various parts of the puzzle. When you get back to the starting point, go around again and you'll find that the training chambers are open. Try to solve the puzzles in the training chambers first. If this goes well, you'll have a good chance at the overall puzzle. Remember the training puzzles and how you solved them and what part of the main puzzle you could see from the observation room nearby. That part of the overall puzzle is similar to the training puzzle and you can use the same general method to solve it. I hope this helps, but, again, if it's not fun then it's not worth your time. It's not about "difficulty", it's about the kind of map you enjoy.
Grauerrat 14. dec. 2020 kl. 11:40
need hint, i have absolut no idea
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 13. okt. 2018 kl. 19:19
Thanks for playing. I don't like maps in which players have to die over and over until they get some skill move right; hence the goo here just closes portals and stops you making any new ones. This kind of thing is easy to do in Hammer. I've been told that I made a mistake with the observation chambers and it's necessary to put a glass texture on the inside as well as on the outside, but I've not got around to fixing it yet.
lfairban 12. okt. 2018 kl. 10:19
A unique map. I have never seen the non-lethal goo or the observation rooms used like this beforre.
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 18. jan. 2018 kl. 4:54
Thanks for playing. I decided to open the training chambers only after the player had visited the observation rooms to encourage him to solve the puzzle by peering into the various component rooms. The training chambers provide very heavy hints about the solution, too strong for the best players. It's certainly a long walk around, but you can portal along the straight sections.
Synovus 17. jan. 2018 kl. 21:52
You turned a very challenging chamber into a unique experience for the player, teaching one trick at a time, unfortunately I didn't make use of the training rooms. I'm curious why the training chambers weren't open the first time you go around the observation rooms since I had already spent a good bit of time trying to solve the first step before visiting them and they didn't provide any help with getting past the first step so I assumed the training rooms wouldn't either. Didn't want to walk all the way around again so I just used a brute force execution-heavy strategy shooting 2 portals midair before landing in the water to get to the laser room, and the rest fell into place.
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 31. okt. 2017 kl. 18:35
gardinur16 : Thanks for persisting! "Satisfied" is how I felt when I completed the original map by Brave that didn't have any of the tweaks to make the execution easier.
SuðuSigfús 30. okt. 2017 kl. 17:41
Damn son this map was hard, I almost rage quit it haha but I was satisfied when I finished.
Rector 8. okt. 2017 kl. 8:40
Nice puzzle. I left a bunch of suggestions in the description, you might want to check that out :)

jandlml 20. aug. 2017 kl. 22:50
i could have put the reflector cube on the button. too bad faded to black before i got the chance. i didnt use them but i like the choice of using the observation chambers
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 19. aug. 2017 kl. 4:33
inkit : Thanks for playing. If you went around the observation rooms and training chambers, you've seen how I tried to direct players towards the solution to the main chamber.
am 18. aug. 2017 kl. 21:04
very interesting, quite infuriating at times. that first manuever is really satisfying once you get it, although i wish it was more clear that it would be such an unconventional solution.
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 27. nov. 2015 kl. 15:43
Unowninator : Yes, you can walk in the water. However, your portals close and you can't place new ones. I'm not trying to kill players; I want them to enjoy the map. The switch that causes the explosion is just a bit of fun.
Unowninator 15. aug. 2015 kl. 13:02
Also I noticed you can flip this switch, but I'm not sure what it does. http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=500440842
Unowninator 15. aug. 2015 kl. 12:15
Am I supposed to be able to walk in the goo without dying? Because I can.
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 29. sep. 2014 kl. 19:42
Hah! I can imagine myself doing the exact same thing!
Kazitor 29. sep. 2014 kl. 17:37
I did see it, I just wondered what would happen if I missed it.
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 29. sep. 2014 kl. 17:15
Atlas : thanks for the suggestion; I didn't really expect anyone to forget the portal gun, with it being under the desk lamp and all, but I'll admit it's kind of hokey to pop up a text reminder.
Kazitor 29. sep. 2014 kl. 5:10
Instead of prompting that you should not forget the Portal Gun, I think you should have just had a small gap to portal across, or something else of that nature.
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 1. sep. 2014 kl. 9:25
Look in the "OWNER CONTROLS" box to the right. Use "Add/edit images & videos".
Hatszög 1. sep. 2014 kl. 8:41
Yess it is an idiot question, but how can I take another picture in my map?
Jacke 26. aug. 2014 kl. 14:15
thx for putting my map on utube and i made it so u cant cheat on it. check out the rest of my maps if u want
Bleu 13. aug. 2014 kl. 13:14
(It took me an hour to right that. I don't know why...)
Bleu 13. aug. 2014 kl. 13:13
Hey, Bayram.
You seem are really good at creating maps.
I, Well, can't figure out how to make a map in Hammer. I've Created a series called 'The Run', and I haven't been doing to well when it comes to the actual puzzle. I'm not asking for a tutorial, I'm just looking for feedback. Not very many people play my puzzles, much less comment. So if you have the time, could you look at my maps? It would be amazing if you do. Here's the link: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=298873026
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 13. aug. 2014 kl. 6:48
GameBurger : Thanks for playing and the like. It is a hard puzzle; I was very pleased with myself when I solved it in its original form (by Brave, without observation rooms or training chambers). I thought that people who don't usually play hard puzzles would like to experience the same rush when you finally figure it out, which is why I made this version.
-GB 13. aug. 2014 kl. 2:36
I've never been good with puzzles and found this quite hard which is awesome :) The puzzles are really tricky and I can imagine the amount of work needed to rebuilt the map in Hammer. Done very well, have my like.
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 12. aug. 2014 kl. 13:28
c4dmin : Thanks for playing my map and I'm glad you liked it. Do you mean a tutorial on how I made the map? If so, I'm afraid I don't have the time, but if you want to learn Hammer there are lots of tutorials on YouTube. I recommend those by TopHATTwaffle. I think you deleted my comment because it was about a short-cut that you removed.
m1stmade 12. aug. 2014 kl. 11:14
that was a very good map Bayram! can you make an tutorial on yt?:D sorry i delete your comment on my second Testchamber! http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=299096604 . that was one of the best community map:)
Xonerix 6. aug. 2014 kl. 5:40
As i said before, here is the map i created using the ideas of "Interface" map.
http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=296673801
Enjoy the puzzle! :p2aperture:
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 4. aug. 2014 kl. 19:55
Xonerix : thanks for playing and your comment. I'm glad you learned some new tricks. I'm a bit confused by your comment about the water and using NOCLIP, because the water does not kill you and you can wade around in it and climb back out, just like a pit with stairs. That was the point, but it has more visual interest than a pit with stairs and the water "explains" why you lose your portals and can't place any more when you're in the water, which a pit would not.
Xonerix 4. aug. 2014 kl. 13:00
omfg, amazing! Those training rooms helped me a lot at learning, before completing the training and wathcing a video on youtube on how the FU*K am i supposed to do those tricks, i would have never completed this test chamber.
Now that i learned such new cool tricks, i'm going to make a map like this too. only probably harder, but safe(falling into that water made me use noclip to start again and again. You could have used a simple pit with stairs to the begining)... ^_^ :p2aperture: :p2aperture:
Anyhow, thanks for teaching me this :D
Here have an :reusapple: and a :balloon:
toncica 3. aug. 2014 kl. 6:12
A highly interesting concept, it kept me intrigued all the time. I thought the "help" button and the training chambers were mandatory after not seeing an easy solution in the main room, it was like being taunted by Glados which I found amusing. In hindsight I have mixed feelings about the most critical part of the solution. I saw that it was possible but I dismissed it as being too hard to execute and kept searching for another solution. In a well designed Hammer map I expect the solution to not stray too far apart from "Valve Difficulty" in terms of execution. After getting "help" it becomes clear what the intended solution is, but I still went "Really...?!?" while making it work.

vallibus - Thanks for playing and the comment; I think you might be one of the first players to fully appreciate what I was trying to do with this map!

Myr (FR) - As always, thanks for playing my map. I know you like to use "glitches", but of course it's not necessary to use the crouch flying glitch to solve this map.
vallibus 17. maj 2014 kl. 5:02
Wow! Wotta a map--and quite a learning experience. No way I would have solved the puzzle without the training chambers.
mood3rd 26. apr. 2014 kl. 15:23
Bayram
I did complete it eventually.
but even after pressing the button, to lower the difficulty.
I found the 1st chamber very hard & it took many attempts.
I just lack the skill, to enjoy the 1st chamber.
the crossing the goo part.
the rest was good.
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 25. apr. 2014 kl. 17:43
mood3rd : thanks for playing and your very generous thumbs up. I think you were trying to skip a big part of the puzzle. If you complete the tour of the observation rooms and try the other three training chambers it should help you see what you have to do to get the laser into the catcher that reverses the excursion funnel and lets you out. But, if it wasn't fun, of course you should just move on.
mood3rd 25. apr. 2014 kl. 15:04
Bayram
not my kind of map.
I lack the skills & quick monouvers.
the 1st chamber I made 3 visits to.
to many attempts, each visit to remember.
after eventualy getting to the 2nd chamber.
I tried in vain, to get the laser into the laser catcher,
in the 1st chamber, above the goo.

at this point I watched the walkthrough, by GraveNoX (thankyou GraveNoX)
I still had great difficulty completing the physical parts, in the 1st chamber.
then to have to do it again, at the end, ahh.
all that aside, it looked good, with good puzzles in other areas.
for those who like quick monouvers, it would be a good map.
for that reason, even though not to my personel taste, thumbs up
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 24. apr. 2014 kl. 12:45
Well, I hope you didn't give me a thumbs down because you're too proud to use the map the way it was designed. Anyway, if you got across the moat I guess you finished the map in the end. In the original, I didn't find anything else as hard as the moat.

There seem to be all kinds of problems when an excursion funnel intersects itself. I was able to walk straight out of Brave's original map doing what you describe. Fatso found that you could wriggle into the exit by putting the funnel on the wall just to the right of the door, and I blocked that. Then he did it with the funnel coming up from the floor. I blocked portals close to the door but still managed to wriggle out. The invisible barrier is a measure of desperation, but at least now you can't go against the direction of the funnels.
󰀉tempeh󰀉 24. apr. 2014 kl. 12:39
Took a look at what has to be the most elaborate training area, and only variable difficulty setting I've seen. It looks quite helpful, there's just a few minor, cosmetic problems: 1, the text "Highly skilled players should go straight in the test chaml" and "Press this button to make difficult moves easier to execu" gets cut off. Two, there's a leak at the bottom of the third stairwell visible when facing the <-4/3-> corner. Otherwise, looks great for a first all-Hammer map.
󰀉tempeh󰀉 24. apr. 2014 kl. 10:57
No, mostly because I'm too stubborn and proud to do so. Just as well I suppose, I got it after a dozen more attempts. I don't feel like downloading the demo, but judging by your conversation with Fatso, am I right to guess he wedged both portals at the end of the funnel so it pulls both ways in order to get through the door? If so, I can confirm it's fixed... with some kind of invisible barrier that only blocks the player. Threw the laser cube through the door, took me a couple minutes to grab it and get it back. Probably would have been faster just to get a new one.
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 23. apr. 2014 kl. 14:32
temporarymanwastaken : I hear you, because I felt the same way when I first played Brave's map (but I persevered and eventually finished the map). Making the execution easier was one of the reasons I created this Hammer version. So, let me ask you this ... did you press the button behind the glass panel to make the execution easier? If you did, and you still can't cross the moat, then I'm all messed up regarding what is doable at moderate skill levels. Have you tried the training chamber corresponding to this section of the puzzle?
󰀉tempeh󰀉 23. apr. 2014 kl. 14:15
If I had to guess, it's the superhuman reflexes required to solve even the first room. I'm no newbie, I've played about 600 hours and 1700 custom maps, and I simply cannot cross the moat in the first room, not because I don't know what to do, but because I'm not fast enough.
Bayram  [ophavsmand] 21. apr. 2014 kl. 5:55
Freeman|TR : I would very much like to hear why you think this map is good but has few ratings. I intended the map to require thinking, but to be playable by the best thinkers and also by players who are not quite to good at solving difficult puzzles.

kimist108 : Thanks for playing and the encouragement.

Sauerkrautbaum : I would very much like to see your pros and cons list. I have already played your map "Interiority Science" and given it a thumbs up.

Jade BGE : Thanks for playing. Presumably, you were able to solve the puzzle in this version. Was it the observations rooms that made the difference? The training chambers?
Jade BGE 20. apr. 2014 kl. 9:20
I recall attempting the original and I didn't get it then. Looks great however Bayram, nice homage to Braves map.
