@samfizz, what could save this map is a bootstrapped laser I actually thought it's there but alas.

@Joric I take it you found it too easy? Any improvements you could suggest?
Joric 21 May, 2021 @ 4:34pm
Not a puzzle.

A solid chamber. Thumbs up!

Fun map. I overthought it quite a bit but it ended up not being too hard. Thumbs up.

@bullfrog Yup, that looked right.

good puzzle.

Good fun, thumbs up. I also had my doubts: intended solution ? Time to look and find out.

An entertaining chamber! I had doubts about a couple of my moves but my solution
matched yours. :)) :bigups:
As usual, I have a talent for having the wrong cube in the wrong place
at the wrong time, but I finally made it out. :steamfacepalm:
Dark Rozen 19 May, 2021 @ 2:54pm
that's pretty nice
samfizz  [author] 15 May, 2021 @ 9:17am
Fair. Altering the layout of the chamber would be difficult, but I made a change to the size of the laser room that should make it less likely the laser will come out at an awkward angle.

Placing the portals for the laser is sometimes difficult because there are too many corners on the walls.

@₴ⱧɆɆ₱ĐØ₲ Thanks for clarifying, makes sense. Good point about the cube sign, I've moved that outside the door.

@PhilFromFrance Thanks! Can I ask which parts you found confusing?
. 13 May, 2021 @ 3:53pm
Nice challenge but a little confusing.

Question about the signs--it depends on who your audience is and the clarity of your test. If you make tests for experienced players than just use the 'recycle' sign, but if you make tests for most popular or less experienced players, than you might have to use the additional signs. But, you can make it a little more clear by adding a 'recycle' sign and moving the 'second cube sign' outside of the half glass door. If you keep those signs behind the glass door, they are a little hard to see in the main room.
Panels--I was talking about the angled panels that you use to launch around the test. My mistake, I was wrong. I was thinking about flip panels, angled panels are fine.

2) The changes I can see in your rebuild are very interesting. It's funny that you showed off that potential move because I had something similar in the test for a long time that I couldn't work in: https://youtu.be/kgY7IeZdjXw (It didn't involve keeping the cube suspended above the button, though--I really like that idea but didn't experiment much with it here). I'm probably gonna use something like that in a future test.

Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback, @sheepdog!

1) The idea with the signs was to err on the side of overexplaining--since the reset button erases all progress, I wanted to make it abundantly clear that both cubes would respawn by labelling them with the dots and putting two dropper signs behind it. Before that I had a less experienced playtester who thought the button would only respawn one cube. Would removing them just be for the sake of elegance or do you think it overcomplicates things?

I also made sure to use the "half glass door" item rather than traditional glass panels by the second cube which I found doesn't destroy it. At worst it can get a bit stuck but you have to intentionally try to make it happen, and it's easy to fix by opening the door or nudging the laser.

blind playthrough https://youtu.be/PbOce92eIo0 Cool! Some thoughts:
~You do not need all of those signs for the cubes. You just need the 'recycle' and 'life-preserver'
~Angled panels+cubes do not always work well since there is a small chance the cube could get fizzled by the panel. Plus, the exit panel is a little hard to see. I rebuilt the test to see what can be changed. I found that if you remove the angled panel, raise the portalable surface by one and lower the exit by 1/4. You can do all of the same steps but do a cube jump to the exit instead of leaving the cube on the button. Of course, this means the faith plate is used slightly less.
~Also, your test has the potential of this https://youtu.be/XYYR5bZVv_M Not the best to be used there, but maybe it can have a use during a different part of the test.
Hope it helps!

I added a small ledge to the corner to make jumping feel more intuitive.
samfizz  [author] 11 May, 2021 @ 7:10pm
Yup! It is.

To get the first cube, is this intended? https://i.imgur.com/dlaQty0.jpg

I basically just walked up the bridge and jumped off.
