Has stack size multipliers.
I have not tested this in MP (don't really have the ability to) and there are desyncs in that in vanilla here and there to begin with so that might be why.
((To confirm; I do understand the drill inventory is the grouping of storage modules +Front of the drill little storage box, which is referred to as 'Online'.))
Online is also the older tab name for "Drillship" in the UI.
The base drillship itself has an inventory separate from the storage modules but acts as one itself. (This is on the 'boiler' in the front.)
The "drillship" tab (aka the 'online' tab) IS NOT AN INVENTORY ITSELF.
This is an amalgamation formed from the separate connected inventories.
It is a 'virtual' view presented as an inventory despite not being one.
> So that led me to believe there was 2 (+ 'unlinked chests' which are each separate) inventories.. A 'Player', and a 'Drill'...
No. They is one inventory on the left, the player, and an uncountable number of inventories on the right (since you're dealing with a virtual amalgamation of them).
If you click on the 'object' tab on the right pane, that will show you exactly what's in that and only that object's inventory. This will not be sorted and will behave functionally identical to the player's inventory.
When you're out and about in the world, you have your own inventory. It needs things like Guns, Tools, Ammo, Grenades, Healthkits and such. As you loot enemies, all loot goes into this player inventory.
Then, when you get back to the drill, you have to place/swap items into the drill inventory.
So that led me to believe there was 2 (+ 'unlinked chests' which are each seperate) inventories.. A 'Player', and a 'Drill'...
And all your wording above seemed to imply it only effected/sorted/changed the DRILL's inventory, and not the players by using the word 'Online'.. which is confusing to me unless its somehow specific to multiplayer?
The 'Online' view of the ship-wide is always sorted (even without the mod). This just changes the sort rules for that.
The 'stack' button (no matter where or what the actual inventory is) physically moves items.
Hence "Online storage "Stack" rearranges items".
Although you're seeing an aggregate view, you can still resort/stack all the underlying connected inventories.
> The online storage tab is auto-sorted by the same rules. (This is a virtual / aggregate view of the inventories you have. This doesn't change or move the actual items, just the display order.)
> Online storage "Stack" rearranges items, compressing/restacking all the inventories connected to online storage. (Again, ordering by the sort rules.)
Or is this just something to make Drill Storage look cleaner/organized, and doesn't touch player inventory?
The visible 'online' (ship) storage is a virtual/aggregate view of all the online storages combined. This makes that view sort by new rules.
The only times items are moved is when you press the "stack" button:
> - Online storage "Stack" rearranges items, compressing/restacking all the inventories connected to online storage. (Again, ordering by the sort rules.)
> - This also prioritizes storage containers over the drill storage, and fills the drill storage last, if there's not enough room in regular storage.
