Ah ok. That must have been changed awhile back in one of the game updates. I just remember from long ago that the module had to be open to be connected and accessible so I assumed it was still the same currently

No point. Closing a storage module doesn't change it's connected state to online storage.

Is it possible to make it so this mod can be set to leave certain items in the drill ship (boiler) inventory and never move those items to a separate storage module? Basically things like coal and turret ammo so if I close all the storage modules in a battle, the turrets still have ammo to use and the boiler and any power plants have access to coal. I also use the official mods so there's modded turrets and their modded ammo that would need to be added to the list of what to sort

Has stack size multipliers.

Is there a way to make a mod that only modifies the stack size in containers? I find that I run out of space so much with the small stack sizes

Had a similar issue in MP due to the host not having auto-sort active, in my limited understanding of the Modding SDK it could be enough to declare the Mod as ClientServer. Happy to play guinea pig, may need voice chat (steam/teamspeak/discord) and timezones (am currently UTC+2) to coordinate efficiently.

I have never experience anything like that in SP.
I have not tested this in MP (don't really have the ability to) and there are desyncs in that in vanilla here and there to begin with so that might be why.

I have a problem that since using this mod, sometimes when I try to take something out of my drillhip storage it keeps staying in there and instead duplicates in the drillship storage, but seemingly only visually, because i cannot take more out than i had put in but if I put it back inside it adds the stack i put inside but wont give me more than that.

Literally the third bullet point.
Jeslis 2 Jan, 2023 @ 9:48pm
Correct. So... my question still stands; The inventory on the 'left. The players. Is that sorted by this mod as well?

((To confirm; I do understand the drill inventory is the grouping of storage modules +Front of the drill little storage box, which is referred to as 'Online'.))
Dante  [author] 2 Jan, 2023 @ 7:30pm
Online == all connected storage modules.
Online is also the older tab name for "Drillship" in the UI.

The base drillship itself has an inventory separate from the storage modules but acts as one itself. (This is on the 'boiler' in the front.)

The "drillship" tab (aka the 'online' tab) IS NOT AN INVENTORY ITSELF.
This is an amalgamation formed from the separate connected inventories.
It is a 'virtual' view presented as an inventory despite not being one.

> So that led me to believe there was 2 (+ 'unlinked chests' which are each separate) inventories.. A 'Player', and a 'Drill'...

No. They is one inventory on the left, the player, and an uncountable number of inventories on the right (since you're dealing with a virtual amalgamation of them).

If you click on the 'object' tab on the right pane, that will show you exactly what's in that and only that object's inventory. This will not be sorted and will behave functionally identical to the player's inventory.

((And please forgive me, new player here to this game.. so I may just not be using the right nomenclature yet.
Jeslis 2 Jan, 2023 @ 6:54pm
Uh, I'm honestly not sure if I'm somehow using the wrong word..

When you're out and about in the world, you have your own inventory. It needs things like Guns, Tools, Ammo, Grenades, Healthkits and such. As you loot enemies, all loot goes into this player inventory.

Then, when you get back to the drill, you have to place/swap items into the drill inventory.

So that led me to believe there was 2 (+ 'unlinked chests' which are each seperate) inventories.. A 'Player', and a 'Drill'...

And all your wording above seemed to imply it only effected/sorted/changed the DRILL's inventory, and not the players by using the word 'Online'.. which is confusing to me unless its somehow specific to multiplayer?
Dante  [author] 2 Jan, 2023 @ 6:18pm
It does, I'm not sure where you're getting player inv. from.
The 'Online' view of the ship-wide is always sorted (even without the mod). This just changes the sort rules for that.
The 'stack' button (no matter where or what the actual inventory is) physically moves items.
Hence "Online storage "Stack" rearranges items".
Although you're seeing an aggregate view, you can still resort/stack all the underlying connected inventories.
Jeslis 2 Jan, 2023 @ 6:02pm
I got the impression that 'Online' meant the Drill inventory only, and not the player inventory at all? or am I misunderstanding something?
Dante  [author] 2 Jan, 2023 @ 5:07pm
Per the description... both.

> The online storage tab is auto-sorted by the same rules. (This is a virtual / aggregate view of the inventories you have. This doesn't change or move the actual items, just the display order.)

> Online storage "Stack" rearranges items, compressing/restacking all the inventories connected to online storage. (Again, ordering by the sort rules.)
Jeslis 2 Jan, 2023 @ 12:47pm
Just trying to clarify what this does: Does this correctly 'order' all inventories such that.. as an example; all Copper Ore is next to eachother.. rather than randomly scattered throughout the inventory?

Or is this just something to make Drill Storage look cleaner/organized, and doesn't touch player inventory?
WhiskersWatson 11 Jun, 2022 @ 6:56am
Holy crap thank you so much for this! I cannot begin to describe my frustration by the fact that you need to go to each container and hit the stack button just to make empty spots. You are a godsend for OCD.
Copper Boltwire 25 Feb, 2022 @ 1:16am
alright, thanks.
Dante  [author] 24 Feb, 2022 @ 2:56pm
No. I'm not sure where you're getting that from.
The visible 'online' (ship) storage is a virtual/aggregate view of all the online storages combined. This makes that view sort by new rules.

The only times items are moved is when you press the "stack" button:
> - Online storage "Stack" rearranges items, compressing/restacking all the inventories connected to online storage. (Again, ordering by the sort rules.)
> - This also prioritizes storage containers over the drill storage, and fills the drill storage last, if there's not enough room in regular storage.
Copper Boltwire 24 Feb, 2022 @ 11:18am
Sooo... if there is already stuff in the drillship's storage, it'll move it to the storage modules when ever it unpacks?
