how does it handle, also does torpedos (player made missiles) work underwater?

I love this build. You know, I always thought space ships would look a lot like submarines, internally, rather than the luxury liners all our builds seem to resemble. Space is, ironically, at a premium in space :D

Try using the complete mod pack, it might just be a certain block I used in contruction that no long is part of the final product but was left over hidden in a turret for example.

I might make a ship ''skin'' that has a little overgrown park on it's airfield, that should be a nice compromise! I really like the idea!

Xev88 you need to have the ''rebalance'' mod enabled so that tanks are not crazy OP for floatation. Also it works on a simple ice collect/eject system. So that the sub gets heavier to submerge, or lighter to emerge.
