Hello Mr thales, Im making a CGC (Coast Guard Cutter) from 1939, I have experimented alot with float planes but cant get them to take off/Float right, May i ask how you did it so well?.

Update:
- Fixed exhaust bug causing engine dies out (recent change on catalytic converter).

@SS Edmund Fitzgerald,
If it does slalom, slow down and try to speed up slowly, use stabilizer and takeoff against wind if there is wind.

hey for some reason once i land this in the water its stuck like a boat without paddles.
what i mean is that once i land i cant get the thing to take back off, it rocks side to side, kinda like slalom

this thing is great. looks great, and flies even better.

maybe a small version?

@Jack the Gyro,
63 meter long submarine!? I can't.

can you make the Papanikolis Y-2

I usually use 1 and 2. I used 3, 4 and 5 once and I don't like complexity or cost in CPU performance.

@Thales Ididnt actually know about point 3 and point 6, thanks for telling me =) This is gonna help me a lot ! So many thanks for helping me and giving me some tips ;)

@[GER] Panzermensch,
Thanks

Water density in Stormworks is 1/10 of the real world water density if we accept 1 mass = 1 kg (because character is 50 mass for example).

So, floats need to be much bigger (10 times the volume) and the plane should be as light as possible.

For floating on water:
1. Make seplanes as light as possible. (Details usually cost in weight)
2. Make floats bigger
3. Use pivots in enclosed areas (cost in CPU performance)
4. Use upward thrust using propellers (cost in complex design)
5. Use upward thurst using phantom wheel-pivot glitch (devs may fix this exploit)
6. Avoid using other than 1x1x1 wedges, pyramids and inverse pyramids on floats or hull where your craft touches water because these blocks don't have buoyancy on their own. If your hull/floats are big enough, then you wouldn't need to bother though, because enclosed volume would be enough for floating.

Awesome plane ! I mean do i even have to tell you that your planes are propably the best out there to be honest.

But i have a question, how do you make your planes float ? Everytime i try to build a Seaplane it just doesnt want to swim, the pantoons even if they are huge dont have enough to lift my planes above the water...
Everything is sealed up fine and it should work but it doesnt. Would be nice if you could help me out a bit =)

@phillydopey,
Which part do you need? I uploaded my Airplane Gyro and modular engine that you can check out here: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2451479627

can i use to help practice making planes because my first plane if look at my workshop can barley take off

also cool that you made more variants

finally, i love this so much

ok
Thales  [author] 12 Apr, 2021 @ 6:04pm
Should be, enable plane's stabilizer if you'll stay in the boat.
brody.toenes 12 Apr, 2021 @ 6:03pm
i guess it does
brody.toenes 12 Apr, 2021 @ 6:02pm
does this go with the seaplane tender
