To move or sell the tool: You just have to aim for the beginning of the tool. Only the first 15 cm are solid. The other 5.85 m are intangible, which is why it goes through walls.

on first try it dropped on the ground and i couldnt pick it up or sell it wich meant i had to unsub to get rid of it

And you can always get rid of workshop items you don't want or can't sell by unsubscribing from them.

I have noticed it takes a really long time to grab and move the tool, but I don't know why.

Worst case - unsubscribe from the tool and it will go away.
