Really excellent mod. Makes the game much better and the units at least usable. I never used to field these units before because they just were annihilated by everyone very fast.

@Mononc, a separate AT mod should be fairly simple to make. But I will mostly set the access to friends only for the time being. Check your messages for friend invite.

The Inf mod has been uploaded. Check it out and let me know what you think. Please post those suggestions in the comments section of that mod.

Thanks again for the feedback.

@Mononc : many people use only Pioniere infantry... why would you possibly want to buff it?
Mononc 18 Apr, 2021 @ 12:59am
Hey R2 could you please make a seperate mod that only does +3 Soft Attack to non-motorised AT, and +1 Soft Attack to motorised AT. Without those traits and Close Defense. Thanks.

BTW, if you plan on changing infantries, Pioniere needs some love. So far i'd go only with a +1 Ground Defense.

Thanks for the clarification

These changes do not apply to AA guns that swap modes to AT.

Do these abilities apply to all AA guns that swap modes to AT?

The document referenced is Technical Manual TM 9-1985-3 issued by the Departments of the U.S. Army and Air Force in March of 1953. Please reference below link for details.

I’ve sent you a PM regarding the Infantry Overhaul mod because I don’t want to derail the comments section of this mod, but I do look forward to your feedback on that topic.

Is that document the one published by the US Navy Dept. Bureau of Ordnance? To me, that sort of stuff is anything but boring :D. I'm currently poring over the "Handbuch der Bordwaffenmunition" which is even more dry and technical. Might be worth a look if you wanted to do an aircraft overhaul!

I can offer some more detailed feedback on this mod in a couple days. As for your infantry overhaul, if I may offer one suggestion, it would be to see if you can make different nations' infantry more unique as to reflect their varying combat doctrines, strengths, and weaknesses and to encourage more diversity in the player's infantry choices other than just Pioniere spam. I've been thinking about my own infantry overhaul for some time now, and I'd be happy to share some thoughts with you on this.

Keep up the good work--I've already tried your other general overhaul mod from the Slitherine forums and enjoyed it greatly--it really added some variety to a game with great replay value.

The document referenced is a very boring Engineering read, but it provides excellent detail. I highly suggest taking a look at it. For example, the 3.7-cm Sprgr. Patr. 40 used the C/13nA percussion primer.

I appreciate you're willing to give the mod a try. Please advise if you have any suggestions on trait or stat changes. Also, I can always make private mods if you want to play to your personal preference. I'm currently working on an infantry overhaul mod, but the alpha testing is taking longer than expected. Thanks again and I look forward to your feedback.

Interesting; I've heard of those rounds being used for the tank guns in those calibres (e.g. the 5 cm KwK 38 on the Panzer III Ausf. F.) but weren't those tank guns electrically primed, whilst the AT guns used actual firing pins? I might just be thinking of the larger tank guns which did use electrical primers, though...

Anyway, your mod would make towed AT more viable. In the base game, there's really no reason to keep using, say, PaK 40s when you have access to StuG IIIs and other self-propelled AT. I'll definitely give it a try after finishing my current campaign.

HE shells for those guns were "3.7-cm Sprgr. Patr. 40" and "5-cm Sprgr. Patr. 38". Please Google search "German Explosive Ordnance" for more details.

Did the Wehrmacht ever issue HE shells for the PaK 36 and PaK 38? I haven't seen any sources on this, although I have read that Allied equivalents like the M3 did have access to canister rounds for anti-personnel purposes. I've not heard of any German canister rounds in 3.7 or 5 cm calibres, though...

The Germans did have an HE shell for their PaK 40, though, and 76mm guns like the ZiS-3 were originally field guns doing double-duty as AT guns. Maybe Towed AT of around 76mm in calibre could have a toggle for artillery mode for increased soft attack?

 Completely Agree!

It looks more coherent, since towed AT guns were more efficient than the early self-propelled ones (like GER Panzerjager1 or SOV ZIS-30).
And they were also able to fire AP/HE shells against soft targets, not only AT ones.

Thanks Again!! Keep up the Great Work!!

I've found AT guns to be worthless since AA guns have dual purpose... So I wanted to add some unique abilities to AT guns in order to add value to this unit class. Thanks and I hope you enjoy!

Once again. Good Job making practical mods buddy
