Again sorry I haven't updated in a while but hopefully you can understand where I'm coming from, as someone that really liked TNO back in the day. I'd much rather spend my time making something for a different mod instead.
Sorry for being a bit slow, as a former dev I've just been saddened lately by the very poor state of the main mod I'm submodding for as well as the very negative discourse surrounding it especilaly after the announcement that they're deleting all their African content. I hope you can at least understand why I'm feeling a bit unmotivated right now, apologies.
@AidenNimitz: Well it's been an unfun time seeing the mod do a complete 180 shift from what made many fall in love with it in the first place. I wish them the best of luck but it's been really unpleasant to work with given their state of affairs. Thanks for understanding and sorry for being unable to update as regularly as I used to. It's just been really sad to see the downward trajectory of TNO and the negative reception to it.
Sorry I can't maintain things like I used to but hopefully you can understand where I'm coming from.
Regarding future updates
Not to bury the lead: after consulting our Discord community I've decided that at some point in the future we'll discontinue support for TNO: The Last Days of Europe and focus entirely on whatever fork is relevant by that point in time. It brings me no joy to say this and it's been sad for me as a long-term fan of TNO to come to terms with this. Simply put the community feedback to TNO's plans to delete all their existing African content has been so overwhelmingly negative that it feels pointless. Our Discord community has been near-unanimous in its negativity. I have been pessimistic about the future of that mod for a very long time but knowing that there's nothing to look forward to but sweeping content cuts and very OTL-like skeletons is just very anti-hype. The team works for free and even in the bad times the fact that there was an enthusiastic community behind it made it worth it but now we barely even have that any more.
"When will support stop?"
Whenever another major content cut releases. I don't want to spend a chunk of a weekend just deleting things.
"Will there be alternatives?"
Yes, support will continue through TNO's forks. If someone in the community wants to help maintain the TLD side of things I'd be happy to help facilitate it but I don't want to personally spend hours mostly sorting out erased content especially when most replacements have no conventional playability.
Sorry for being absent for a while, I've just been very sad about the state of TNO and accepting that a mod that I liked a lot has changed its ways and abandoned much of its original community in the process. If anyone here likes that then more power to you and don't let me take that away from you. Again I'll try to figure out some kind of solution in the future.
I'll try to put out some form of compatibility update this weekend or something. It's just a bummer with all the deleted content on the horizon.
Or it didn't load properly
The only thing is that the names have remained the same; they could have been changed, but whatever. An absurdly stupid but awesome mod. I like it.
Sorry for the slow pace lately, it's just been hard to get hyped for skeletons and tags with very limited conventional gameplay. It's just not very fun for me to work with, I apologize for the inconvenience, but hopefully this is at least a reasonable explanation.
I probably won't do more than 1 KR and one TNO run, then peace out for a long while again.
Hopefully Paradox will stop milking this and give us some new games, or the big ol' mod teams will continue to deteriorate.
But still Big thank you for your and others work, I wouldn't boot this up again, if it wasn't for you guys and gals.
P.S. yeah overworking might've not been the right word, more like chip away at your mental state with menial/repetitive tasks. I mean most people would procrastinate those.
It amazes me that KR still is stuck doing these nonsense renamings...
Hope you're doing well too and thank you for the kind and considerate words.
Hope you're doing good and are healthy!
I liked the portraits from the first version more than the new ones.
Thanks in advance btw love the mod and keep up the good work
@Sigma: Sorry for the even more delayed response, I think that's either because the mod was renamed and relocated and I just missed it. My bad. I'll try to rectify it in the next update, it's possible that I was kept out of the loop on their updates because of this. These things happen, hard to keep track of all submods sometimes.
Patch notes above.
Also looking for helpers on a new mod, please check our Discord.
Once all of this is done I hope to be able to finally work on a TFR submod. I want something to work on that's fun again. It doesn't mean that I'll abandon this mod or MR, but the biggest hurdle has been that both of those mods mostly revolve around content cuts and maintenance work these days. I miss the days when you had lots of fun creative challenges to make every tag's theme fit like a perfect puzzle instead of feeling like an office job, if that makes sense.
