@AH412885294: Sorry for being so slow, I've just had no motivation at all. I hope to change this, but after they announced that they're just deleting all their African content in favor of some unplayable OTL skeletons I just don't think the mod has any future and even if it limps on it'll have absolutely nothing to do with what TNO once was. I'll primarily switch over development to one of the forks with time but as someone that cared a lot about the well-being of TNO as a mod it's just so sad to see it completely divorce itself from its original identity and content.

Again sorry I haven't updated in a while but hopefully you can understand where I'm coming from, as someone that really liked TNO back in the day. I'd much rather spend my time making something for a different mod instead. :KneelingBow:

updata plz,we need more anime:mlrem1:
Rei  [author] 2 Sep @ 1:00pm
@xxarykittyxx: Yes, I'll update it for either fork. If someone agrees to help me out then The Last Days of Europe as well.
Sorry for being a bit slow, as a former dev I've just been saddened lately by the very poor state of the main mod I'm submodding for as well as the very negative discourse surrounding it especilaly after the announcement that they're deleting all their African content. I hope you can at least understand why I'm feeling a bit unmotivated right now, apologies.

@AidenNimitz: Well it's been an unfun time seeing the mod do a complete 180 shift from what made many fall in love with it in the first place. I wish them the best of luck but it's been really unpleasant to work with given their state of affairs. Thanks for understanding and sorry for being unable to update as regularly as I used to. It's just been really sad to see the downward trajectory of TNO and the negative reception to it. :KneelingBow:

u will continue support tno requiem right?
AidenNimitz 27 Aug @ 6:03pm
Sad to hear that regarding TNO support, but can't say I'm all that surprised. I've been pretty burnt out on TNO lately as just a player; I can't imagine the frustration as a mod developer.
Rei  [author] 27 Aug @ 1:11pm
@青い空、七色の虹: They're not missing, the devs just renamed everything for no reason which breaks the overlaying and I've been absend and focusing on real life over the past several weeks. Apologies for being slow with the updates, I just ended up taking a timeout once I learned about them deleting all African content.
Rei  [author] 27 Aug @ 1:09pm
@Dark: Thanks for the kind words and apologies for the late response. I just ended up taking an unplanned timeout from this. I think the news about them just mass removing so much of their content in the future was the final straw. I did try to get back into it but it's just so dull when you know so much of it's likely just going to be deleted in the future. I wish I could keep up the pace that I used to, but it feels so unrewarding when the thing I'm submodding for bears no resemblance to its original self any more. It's been a lovely summer, and I'd rather be outside than deal with removed files. Or work on say TFR, at least that'd be fun and rewarding to work on. And the discourse there is so different in the community. People looking forward to updates. That's another thing. With TNO it's just "oh this is getting cut" and things like that.

Sorry I can't maintain things like I used to but hopefully you can understand where I'm coming from.

Regarding future updates
Not to bury the lead: after consulting our Discord community I've decided that at some point in the future we'll discontinue support for TNO: The Last Days of Europe and focus entirely on whatever fork is relevant by that point in time. It brings me no joy to say this and it's been sad for me as a long-term fan of TNO to come to terms with this. Simply put the community feedback to TNO's plans to delete all their existing African content has been so overwhelmingly negative that it feels pointless. Our Discord community has been near-unanimous in its negativity. I have been pessimistic about the future of that mod for a very long time but knowing that there's nothing to look forward to but sweeping content cuts and very OTL-like skeletons is just very anti-hype. The team works for free and even in the bad times the fact that there was an enthusiastic community behind it made it worth it but now we barely even have that any more.

"When will support stop?"
Whenever another major content cut releases. I don't want to spend a chunk of a weekend just deleting things.

"Will there be alternatives?"
Yes, support will continue through TNO's forks. If someone in the community wants to help maintain the TLD side of things I'd be happy to help facilitate it but I don't want to personally spend hours mostly sorting out erased content especially when most replacements have no conventional playability.

Sorry for being absent for a while, I've just been very sad about the state of TNO and accepting that a mod that I liked a lot has changed its ways and abandoned much of its original community in the process. If anyone here likes that then more power to you and don't let me take that away from you. Again I'll try to figure out some kind of solution in the future.

I'll try to put out some form of compatibility update this weekend or something. It's just a bummer with all the deleted content on the horizon.
青い空、七色の虹 25 Aug @ 2:18pm
Japanese generals and admirals moe seem to be missing :(
Or it didn't load properly
Dark 5 Aug @ 6:48am
@Rei really happy to hear how much effort you put into these. I often try and fix some missing portraits myself in my free time (just for myself, until an update comes out) And oh boy, is it difficult if you don't want to be sloppy like I am. I really appreciate the work you do, especially since this isn't the only Anime Mod from you. And I can understand the Stress and boredom from TNO and KR/KX there just isn't really anything new anymore... I pray that TNO2 will be better and actually come out soon. (Soon being around 1-2 years) Once again, thank you for what you're doing!
Rei  [author] 2 Aug @ 10:28am
@AidenNimitz: Compatibility will happen with the next patch, just requires editing a line in a single file. Hopefully happening soon since I'm home again now, just have a backlog of some other things to deal with. I'll try and update both in tandem as they update themselves. Only hurdle is that I'm pretty much done with TNO as a whole at the moment. Just isn't as fun as it used to be but that's just a personal thing. :KneelingBow:
Rei  [author] 2 Aug @ 10:27am
@simons.panzer: Glad you find it fun, if I can make you laugh and smile I did my job right. The reason why names aren't changed is that it'd require me to change around game files in a way that might break events and more. If a graphic file goes broke that's just a normal portrait that'll appear instead but if a localization or character file has the wrong info it could hurt your experience in a more significant way. I understand where you're coming from but hopefully that makes sense at least. I want the mod to be unintrusive and not have any risks to cause issues with the actual game experience.
AidenNimitz 1 Aug @ 6:43pm
With 2WRW transitioning into TNO: Requiem and going its own separate way, will this prioritize compatibility with Requiem or with the original TNO mod in the future?
simons.panzer 1 Aug @ 11:41am
This mod is absurdly stupid, but that's what makes it so awesome. I've never laughed so much (in a positive way) at a mod as I have with this one.

The only thing is that the names have remained the same; they could have been changed, but whatever. An absurdly stupid but awesome mod. I like it.
Rei  [author] 30 Jul @ 7:40am
Hey just a heads up. On vacation now but I'll try and update the mod this weekend including fixing the dependencies that recently changed for our supported mods due to renames and whatnot.
Rei  [author] 27 Jul @ 1:46pm
@CaesarNate: No, it's not dead. I just lost interest in TNO for a while because the updates weren't my cup of tea for the longest time and on top of that I was busy working on other projects. I hope to update the mod sooner rather than later since those are wrapping up and the recent Omsk update's finally given me some Russian content to get into again.

Sorry for the slow pace lately, it's just been hard to get hyped for skeletons and tags with very limited conventional gameplay. It's just not very fun for me to work with, I apologize for the inconvenience, but hopefully this is at least a reasonable explanation. :KneelingBow:
RBSniper 27 Jul @ 11:58am
Just because a mod hasn't updated in a few months does not mean it's dead.
CaesarNate 27 Jul @ 9:39am
is this mod dead?
Khazar 14 Jul @ 3:04pm
@Rei I can understand the frustrations, I came back after a year to check things out and the mod-front looks quite bleak.
I probably won't do more than 1 KR and one TNO run, then peace out for a long while again.

Hopefully Paradox will stop milking this and give us some new games, or the big ol' mod teams will continue to deteriorate.

But still Big thank you for your and others work, I wouldn't boot this up again, if it wasn't for you guys and gals.

P.S. yeah overworking might've not been the right word, more like chip away at your mental state with menial/repetitive tasks. I mean most people would procrastinate those.
It amazes me that KR still is stuck doing these nonsense renamings...
Rei  [author] 13 Jul @ 1:39pm
@Khazar: Well, I'm hardly overworking these days. In fact, I'm behind on updates. Interest just dwindled. KR mostly just does file name changes and other pedantry, TNO just barely puts out anything playable any more. It is what it is. Gotten back to updating literally today though starting with MR since that one was lagging behind more. I just kinda wish both would go back to being as exciting as they were in the past.

Hope you're doing well too and thank you for the kind and considerate words. :KneelingBow:
Khazar 7 Jul @ 10:34am
@Rei One year later and you're still overworking yourself alone here, KR changed their folders again... same old same old huh?
Hope you're doing good and are healthy!

Update?
ViperGogo69 16 Jun @ 9:16am
can you guys pls add a download link to older versions of this mod?
I liked the portraits from the first version more than the new ones.
Thanks in advance btw love the mod and keep up the good work:steamthumbsup:
RBSniper 11 Jun @ 8:32pm
Great mod - Only I have to give in feedback would be more Inf. Kit graphical changes like what happened with the German [And many Einheitspakt] tech trees.
Rei  [author] 8 Jun @ 7:41am
@wilhelm: I was gone over the weekend because I had to help my family so I barely had time to wrap things up on the update before now. Also, I wish the updates had more interesting people to work with again like in the old days but that's neither here nor there.
wilhelm 5 Jun @ 8:30am
new update this weekend?
1778951653 31 May @ 1:57am
ok!
Rei  [author] 31 May @ 1:17am
@1778951653: Sometime next week probably!
1778951653 30 May @ 7:00pm
please update!
Rei  [author] 24 May @ 2:56am
@Postal Dude: Sorry for the late reply, I've been extremely busy with getting Omsk playable. I guess I'll update sometime after the new TNO update drops. Sure look forward to that mini game collection.

@Sigma: Sorry for the even more delayed response, I think that's either because the mod was renamed and relocated and I just missed it. My bad. I'll try to rectify it in the next update, it's possible that I was kept out of the loop on their updates because of this. These things happen, hard to keep track of all submods sometimes. :KneelingBow:
when will be the new update js asking

MusicallySmug 17 Feb @ 9:38am
Mexican generals still have vanilla portraits, that intentional?
Rei  [author] 17 Feb @ 7:39am
@Grândola: I've cataloged all tags with missing stuff, it's a bunch of ODF content for the most part. Just wanted to get the update out over the weekend to coincide with the KR one. The rest will come in the next patch. I'm back on the job again after my hiatus so it won't take as long this time around.

Mod updated with like a billion fixes and new things. Sorry for taking a hiatus, just needed to focus on different things for a while.
Patch notes above.

thank you, i am finally able to pass the video auditor
Rei  [author] 1 Feb @ 5:43am
@Bruin: A belated happy lunar new year to you as well, sorry for not replying sooner, missed the ping. All repairs are finally done, it's just been a boring slog to get through it all and most of my free time goes towards the 2WRW mod and helping them go standalone. All that's left is adding in some new stuff in MR and TMO, then hopefully I can update both. I know it's taken longer than I expected, and I apologize for that. I just didn't expect KR and TNO to throw as many proverbial curve balls as they did.

Once all of this is done I hope to be able to finally work on a TFR submod. I want something to work on that's fun again. It doesn't mean that I'll abandon this mod or MR, but the biggest hurdle has been that both of those mods mostly revolve around content cuts and maintenance work these days. I miss the days when you had lots of fun creative challenges to make every tag's theme fit like a perfect puzzle instead of feeling like an office job, if that makes sense. :KneelingBow:
Bruin 30 Jan @ 10:45pm

@grsfdgdfgdsfajaj: Just got another thousand or so files to move over and check if they work. Shouldn't take much longer. The only real issue is that it's mind-numbingly boring.
