How do i use this?
calcul8or  [author] 12 Apr, 2015 @ 8:11pm
@ruhrgebietheld - thanks for the feedback on this one and North Dakota. NH was really designed by someone else who is a resident. I'll agree that ND in particular is a little lackluster.

This is one of those interesting ones, as I'm still not sure how I feel about it, even after playing as them multiple times. They have one pretty good unique (the granite works), although you won't be able to build it in many of your cities. There's also one average unique (the textile mill), which is nothing special, but not bad either. And then there's an absolutely terrible UA. All it consists of is one promotion for each naval unit you produce. The other part about additional gold from the granite works is deceptive, because it makes it seem like the granite works gets additional gold to what's already listed under its unique properties. But it doesn't. All it means is that the bonuses of the granite works are better than the stone works, which is something you already knew anyways, as it's part of what makes the granite works a good unique in the first place.

@Alex - lol. Thanks for the comment!
Division 25 Aug, 2014 @ 3:03pm
Sadly though I live in one of the crappier parts or NH.
Division 25 Aug, 2014 @ 3:02pm
I will take control of my state and lead it to global glory. Also excellent background.
mangowallaby 25 Aug, 2014 @ 7:33am
Thank you! I saw the Massachusetts Mod andwas like, what NH? NH for the win!
Biggus Dickus 24 Aug, 2014 @ 5:06pm
Yeah a New Hamshire Civ! I'll lead my people to make the entire world just as uneventful as my state!
calcul8or  [author] 17 Jun, 2014 @ 5:26pm
You're right - I did that backwards. I'll update soon. I intended to add both melee and ranged promotions. I'll be updating soon.
Sublimenol 17 Jun, 2014 @ 8:46am
Not sure if you know, but Targeting only effects ranged attacks, which makes it useless for naval melee units. Boarding party is the naval melee promotion.
calcul8or  [author] 23 May, 2014 @ 5:15pm
Makes sense, and I ran across that when I was researching NH. For now, I added Targeting 1 to all naval units as a nod to NH's naval tradition
Bopwabaloobop 23 May, 2014 @ 10:46am
Calcul8or - It may be confusing, but Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is nearly a stone's throw away from Portsmouth, New Hampshire (but 'officially' located in paltry Kittery, Maine (so the workers have to pay income tax and fund the place, lol) Portsmouth,NH is the economic/ cultural machine in that general area and is one of the oldest continous communities in the nation (1630). It has been building warships since around/before 1690. Since WWI it has been specializing in submarines.

Also, no sales tax here means we get to sell a lot of stuff. I'm thinking +(x) production on coastal cities (We have 13 miles of coastline and we put it to good use)

calcul8or  [author] 22 May, 2014 @ 3:23am
Bopwabloobop - Thanks! I mostly built this at the request of someone else. The civ may be a llittle underpowered, so ship-building is a possibility
Bopwabaloobop 21 May, 2014 @ 10:56pm
ps, you should have given us some ship-building improvements...
Bopwabaloobop 21 May, 2014 @ 10:54pm
Thanks for doing New Hampshire. I jokingly searched 'New Hampshire' and laughed when I saw this. Your great. Have a nice day

calcul8or  [author] 30 Apr, 2014 @ 5:30pm
@castleguard215 - great question. In the code, Granite is actually associated with the Granite Works building, so it is possible for another civ to capture the city and keep the building (and the resource). I didn't test this; didn't think of it, actually.
castleguard215 30 Apr, 2014 @ 11:11am
So if another Civ captures one of your cities with a Granite Works does that mean they would not have the two copies of Granite since it is part of the Civs UA?
Faiko 18 Apr, 2014 @ 7:12pm
The Sound and the Fury.
Fasdf Gfaha 18 Apr, 2014 @ 7:09pm
You should add Arkansas next
calcul8or  [author] 13 Apr, 2014 @ 12:09pm
Got it, thanks so much for researching.
Modrian 13 Apr, 2014 @ 8:02am
And the culprit appears to be -- Wisconson, which I think was your first. Added all the others one by one with no problems of scrolling or Unit/Bldg pictures (had noticed these were some times messed up with wrong pictures appearing in wrong place), Then to confirm tried various combos with Wisconson. All failed for scrolling. So you might take a look at Wisconson and have it conform to your later creations. Love the State Civs.
calcul8or  [author] 13 Apr, 2014 @ 7:41am
Thanks, let me know.
Modrian 13 Apr, 2014 @ 7:05am
Correction on earlier report, as it was not another State Civ v NH. Have tried setup with only NH and all OK. Will try some further testing, adding other State Civs to see if any combo fatal.
Modrian 13 Apr, 2014 @ 2:58am
Sorry to repost something peculiar is happening with this Mod. As reported, was up and running. Played a game as another state civ but with NH selected as one of the opponents. Everyting worked fine. Then decided to play as NH. Changed nothing, but when I went to setup for new game, the old no-scroll problem reappeard. Tested by removing only NH from active Mods. Scroll returned. Did full reset: unscubscribe NH, exit Steam, reboot computer, reenter and resubscribe. Scroll problem persists (again only for NH). Suggestions?
calcul8or  [author] 10 Apr, 2014 @ 7:45pm
Awesome, thanks for letting me know
Modrian 10 Apr, 2014 @ 2:02pm
Adjustments have worked. Now selectable and up and running well. Thanks.
calcul8or  [author] 9 Apr, 2014 @ 9:31pm
No problem, gutbomber. If there's one thing I've learned while doing these state mods, is that people are very pasionate about their state - and the states they don't like!
Dak Better Gutbomber 9 Apr, 2014 @ 7:06pm
Well know you know why I was fed up, sorry at the heat of the monument I was like "What the #### why would someone do New Hampshire over Vermont."
Dak Better Gutbomber 9 Apr, 2014 @ 7:06pm
Ah interesting. Yeah I really get short with people on Civ most of the time, like I really hate the anime mods on Civilization and thankes for clearing up about why you made New Hampshire.
By the way. Ben and Jerry's Ice cream started in Vermont. So did John Deere.
Vermont was a free Republic for 14 years and they had 3 "Governors." (Highest political leader)
Vermont had their own currency, "Vermont Coppers."
Vermont was the first country in North America to allow all men to vote regardless of property and the first north american country to illegalize slavery.
Vermont political leaders were talking about joining Canada but decided not to after the Treaty of Paris was signed.
In the joint-revolution with the 13 colonies, Vermont was known for their ability to fight native americans and their marksmenship. Best of all, the men of Vermont were known to be scouts, leading the American soldiers in the revolution and 1812 into the wilderness up north.

calcul8or  [author] 9 Apr, 2014 @ 5:54am
Gutbomber - no offence taken! I've done several states as civs, and New Hampshire was for a special request
Dak Better Gutbomber 8 Apr, 2014 @ 5:54pm
Ah... okay. Sorry for the tone. I figured that someone who would make a state like country would do Vermont over New Hampshire.
calcul8or  [author] 7 Apr, 2014 @ 6:09pm
Gutbomber - interesting! I didn't come across that while researching NH to make this mod.
Dak Better Gutbomber 7 Apr, 2014 @ 5:43pm
-_-..... After the revolution, Vermont was her own country for a little while because United States were taking forever to agree if she should be part of the union, i would have loved to see that instead
calcul8or  [author] 7 Apr, 2014 @ 4:39am
All - thanks for the feedback! keep it coming.
calcul8or  [author] 7 Apr, 2014 @ 4:38am
@mikevarn - it sounds like it didn't download properly. I've made a couple of edits; updating the mod might correct the issue.
stephangoodwin 6 Apr, 2014 @ 4:23pm
This looks great, but I feel like the unique building and the unique ability are the same thing, meaning that New Hampshire doesn't have a unique ability. I'm going to try it regardless, just some early feedback.
SovietTurtles 5 Apr, 2014 @ 7:25pm
Besides my idea, great new mod.
SovietTurtles 5 Apr, 2014 @ 7:24pm
Maybe Virginia could make a good state civilization. The UB could be a Tobacco Plantation (Replaces the granary, +1 Food instead of +2, but it gains +2 Gold). I don't know who would make a good Civ Leader though. UA could be Agricultural Benefits (+1 Culture,Gold, and Happiness for every plantation tile improvement). A UU could be a Colonizer ( Replaces Musketmen, +1 Sight and +25% Combat Bonus whe fighting in forest).
Modrian 5 Apr, 2014 @ 2:30pm
Selected 1st available mod as my Civ and using Adv Setup insured participation of New Hampshire ( which does appear in the Civ selection list). Per your inquiry, neither Granite Works or Textile Mill appear in the Tech Tree, only Stone Works and Factory. However, Granite Works appears in the Civiliopedia although Textile Mill(s) does not. Hope this helps.
calcul8or  [author] 4 Apr, 2014 @ 6:39pm
mikevarn - do both of the UBs show in the civiliopedia or tech tree? That glitch is usually from missing one of the uniques
Modrian 4 Apr, 2014 @ 8:13am
Appears to be an odd glitch that prevents scrolling of Civs during setup (so NH can't be selected). Does not occur with any other of the State Civs.
calcul8or  [author] 31 Mar, 2014 @ 5:01pm
Great to hear! Thanks
