I know you probably have stuff going on but I pop in every once in awhile to see how you're doing.
How is progress coming along? I play rimworld pretty casually but am always interested in your ideas!

@Vardath one day once it's coding updates can be afforded, absolutely. So many new things are coming in it's next update.

For now, the newly released "Rimtroid: Lite" is the only current Rimtroid mod for 1.4:

@ParasiticSquid Won't say how, but Pawnmorpher integration is on the to-do list for one of the Rimtroid mods. ;)

Now imagine this with pawnmorpher compatibility. Forcefully turning people into metroids to restock metroids to experiment on sounds like something space pirates would definatly do if they could lol

@Kaluth yeah, 70% of the c# code needed for RT to work on 1.3 broke. So the RT series is going to be using Vanilla Expanded Framework for abilities (which is the code that broke).

Tomorrow and over the weekend I'll be putting much time into the "Lite" version. It won't have most of the buildings, genetic options, and likely the Metroid faction, but it'll at least give you metroids to play around with. Hopefully it'll be ready to release by the time the weekend is over.

Also take your time, it seems a lot of things got messed up with the dlc and the newer patches too.

@minigun gaben it is being updated daily. A lot of coding and the ability framework (the same reason why Dragon's Descent isn't updated yet) had to be changed or updated, and many new content areas - metroids, mechanics, events, etc., have also been in the works. Alongside that the coder is quite busy, so things are *very* slow.

A "lite" version will be coming once I can finish the xml, which is meant to be used for situations like this. Major C# coding that Lite required just got finished a couple days ago, so I'll let you know when that is out. you can check the Discord to see updates when they come out.

@Kaluth Pirates have had next to no development yet, aside from the idea of a storyteller. Currently focus is on this mod, and two other mods of the series.

After that, Pirates may come, though there are also other aspects that may be focused on first. You can check/ask in the Discord for information on exactly what is being worked on.

@Scando-lus The goal right now is to get both for the first 1.3 update. A bunch of new metroid variants, mostly. It'll take time, but I hope to get it out relatively soon.

Take your time with updating the mod. I love playing with this mod and quality always beats quantity! :D

For those wondering, Rimtroid: Evolution will be ported to 1.3. However, a large overhaul of this mod, plus a brand new installment in the Rimtroid series, was in progress for 1.2, and I'd like to finish those up for 1.2 as well. Any content after that will be on 1.3+ and beyond.

Due to the massive amount of work being put in, and the QA needed to sure that this mod will function flawlessly in 1.3, both the porting and the next update may take some time.

I hate these metroid bug thingys. I hate them so much. I obsessively keep an eye on my Wildlife tab now to make sure none come onto the map. EXCELLENT MOD it's about time we had some truly terrifying creatures in this game.

@Hades the King Yes. This mod specifically focuses on the Metroids and their variants, with other mods covering the other areas (i.e. weapons and other creatures)

@Smithal just saw this. It doesn't sound like an RT problem, as I've been able to form caravans before. Pawns idling on the edges of maps has happened to me before with other modded creatures, and caravans that don't even have creatures; I'm not sure what causes it. I'll double-check to make sure it isn't my mod though.

How I did fix it though, was to either add someone/something to the caravan, or remove someone. That "refreshes" the order, for lack of a better term. Try that if this happens again.

I can't seem to travel to raid other places with metroids, I'm trying to attack another base with some omega metroids, but I can't load them onto SRTS shuttles and when attached to a caravan they hang out on edge of the colony map.

@Smithal The queen requires a very specific method. First, no queen has to exist on the planet. Then, while you have an Omega, you have a 1/20 chance for it to turn into a Queen. The Queen will then stay with you until it either gets hungry, or leaves on it's own.

I'm looking into another way to get a Queen, but considering how powerful it currently is, and how much powerful it will be later, it will be difficult. The Queen is intended as an endgame metroid.

@mynameactually the mod is currently adding in a genetics system - a mix between GeneticRim and Altered Carbon - alongside some new metroids (at least the Tallon ones). Often the mod files have xml and textures showing what's in the works, you can check there if you want to.

Training them works the same as any other animal; it comes down to pawn skill, not the sphere amount. Bantee Metroid and Metroid Larva wildness are 70% and 80%, respectively; anything above that cannot be tamed unless you enable it in mod settings, which then puts their wildness at 99%.

I'd suggest you use someone with 12+ Animal skill, use the taming inspiration when you can, and tame Bantees when they appear.

For some one like me who has a ton of extra weapon/ factions mods the balance I think it's alright. Although you still have to get them and the warhammer 40k mods doesn't make it easy if you don't trade for them but can make short work of most of the metroid types once you do.

But yeah early game can be a issue with them, more so if you're doing a close to vanilla run or just using those real world guns mods. The uscm mod that adds in the xenomorphs has a timer so that they only start to show up after 60 days has past, maybe you could add something like that to solve some issues with the metroids spawning early game?

@xxx_SH1N-K1CKER_xxx yes, metroids are not pushovers. And canon-wise they do wipe out ecosystems. However, the only balancing I've been able to do with their stats has been entirely guesswork, with little external input on how tough they actually are.

the one time I used this mod the metroids spawned in as "animals" on the map and wiped my colony and living thing on the map within the first 10 mins :)

Compatibility between these mods will only attract more user attention.

Or maybe someone else will create a separate patch to combine your mod and CE.
In any case, thank you for such creativity and hard work, mods with special mechanics are unfortunately very few,but they are the best)

@Absolute Madman: Yup, they are all planned as individual modules! The only requirement would be the Core mod, which will have shared code one or more mods use.

The next mod is either going to be a Ridley storyteller, or beam/armor addition. Something small that comes out between the really big mods. I'll be putting out updates on the Discord server, which will be the best place if you plan to follow up on the series.

@Absolute Madman a ton is planned after this. What exactly isn't certain though. There's plans for more creatures, Phazon, robots/drones, Ing, Metroid techs, etc. I suppose it depends on what people would enjoy more. All of them will be getting a ton of attention though.

@Kaluth the right/left clicking on normal objects isn't often used. But I figured it'd save up some space.

As for your picture, it is *somewhat* accurate with future plans.
