Corrupt the Spire's relics when chosen open the Event relics screen, which does not contain them.

Hey all. I haven't looked at this mod in like a year, but I happened to check it out again today and I see that there are some comments about bugs. I do remember there being a few issues I wanted to squash before I set this down, but it's also possible that new issues have arisen too since this game has been updated. I'm not sure if I'll have the time and energy to revisit this in the immediate future given what I've got going on in my life, but I'd like to come back and smooth out the bugs at some point before too long. Until then, apologies if your runs are cut short due to progress blocking UI and thanks for checking this mod out.

It'd be great to have the option in the config to switch off part of the mod, like the cards selection, aside from that it's kinda fun, though a bit messy when you have many characters mods like I do.

No matter what settings I use, any time a boss drop occurs it simply won't let me select any of them and I'm forced to skip the reward entirely. Kind of makes the whole mod pointless.

Sometimes the card you select does not get added to the deck. At one point, the card selection just bugged out altogether and I had to restart the game. For the first one, was playing an Ironclad game, selected a card from the list on the first boss (demon form), and got nothing from it.

I noticed a bug specifically with The Watcher's unlockable relics.
I made sure to turn off all of my other relic mods for testing and I've been able to consistently cause the game to crash if I'm picking up her unlockables.

@JPCKing1586 I'll tell you that I've played this mod before and not seen this issue. Bugs that can't be consistently reproduced (i.e. mod author does exactly what you did, but the bug doesn't happen) are INCREDIBLY hard to fix.

Idea: have 2 separate versions, one where you start with this ability and one that turns the ability into a relic (maybe at the cost of like 20 max HP or something to make it fairer)

Love the mod. A lot. Thought I would mention a few bugs I've noticed. First one is a Hubris mod interaction. After picking up the Spice relic through this mod, the next levels of it show up as rewards naturally, but when you click on them, the relic selection menu doesn't have them as a choice. Also the last few times I got the towel artifact (I think its Hubris as well but could be replay or downfall), it made it so I couldn't actually gain any more relics for the the rest of the run.

You're almost definitely missing something. The mod should interrupt every time you go to pick up any card or relic from a rewards screen. I know it works fine with Reliquary, and I think I've run it with Hubris before, and it's worked for me.

How do I come across the Artifact of Choice in my runs? I've installed the mod, but I don't seem to get the effect. Is it something you start out with immediately or a relic that shows up later? Does playing with other mods like Hubris and Reliquary make this mod not work, or am I missing something?

@dalekrule: That's actually pretty weird, and I generally haven't experienced that. I have seen similar things with relics that are meant to appear in groups, and stack, like the triforce pieces from Hylian Relics, and the Spice from Hubris... though the latter one is meant to be a problem. What relic are you experiencing this with?

Another bug I'm experiencing is that after replacing a relic using artifact of choice, the game continuously tries to give me the relic i replaced over and over again.

Hey, so ive been playing spire with friends but this mod doesnt work with it because the bosses give an extra relic afterwards thats part of itsmod idk if u can help me fix it or i need to have them change something. any help appreciated :)

Hi, sorry for the bad english, I am using a translator. I installed this mod and noticed a slight conflict with the Lobotomy mod: when you take a reward card from this mod, an empty selection menu appears and that's it, you just have to exit through the game menu.
Q: can I turn off the selection function for cards and leave only for relics?

If you save-and-quit while the selection menu is open, the selection menu won't re-open when you return when you resume the game.

@dalekrule I've considered adding the swap to non-reward relics (like neow), but have held off on it as I don't quite know how to deal with all of them and don't quite want to cherry pick. If I can find a way to do it easily, I think it'd be cool.

I will take a look into that upgrade bug as soon as I can though.

@hornetcorset, I definitely agree about the books and faces and I can put those in the same tier.

A pretty important bug as of 3/17/2021: After seeing and taking an upgraded card, all cards of that color and rarity taken later are upgraded.

I'm inclined to agree on the special relics, though I do like the option of being able to pick whether you get the Necronomicon, the Enchiridion, or Nilry's Codex. (The only other subset of special relics I can see as being "swappable" are the "good face"/"bad face" options in the face trader event.)

I'll be sure to update my local copy of the mod.

@hornetcorset, at the moment circlets no longer pull up the "special" tier like they used to. Instead they are in their own tier and they stack correctly (at least in my own testing). I'm not sure if it would make sense for them to be in every relic tier when the general principle is you are "manipulating rng" and not getting any relics that weren't possible in a normal run. I'm kind of tempted to make all special relics just get ignored by the mod in this same principle.

Regarding circlets, I finally found out what happens: as expected, things that put circlets directly into your relic inventory work just fine. Unexpected, attempting to pick up a circlet opens the menu for choosing a special/event relic, of which circlets are not on the list.

For selecting relics, circlets should basically be the "no selection" option. Personally, I feel that you should probably "force" circlets onto every relic-selection list, even though they're not really in any relic category. (This should happen regardless of whether you already have a circlet. This would, of course, produce a problem with circlets failing to stack. I wish I knew how to fix that problem, but I haven't yet gotten into StS writing my own StS mods. I suspect there's an elegant solution somewhere that would fix that, as well as... pretty much every relic that doesn't behave properly when you pick it up with this mod.)

Great, it works very well. I agree with people in that you should be able to browse through a type & tier and then cancel your selection at your will.

Other than that, (a) after the selection of card rewards right after using Dreamcatcher and (b) after Neow's initial card rewards; the proceed button does not show up for a while. Had to switch the screen to menu and/or map, and then later it was displayed.

Btw, I like the fact that we can only choose from the same rarity and type and that the event/shop/rare relic & card distinctions are preserved. Even with the mod on, you have to come across that certain type you're looking for. In a way it does not dispense with RNG altogether.

Bottling up (Bottled lightning relic) an upgraded apotheosis (colorless rare skill) you don't have to upgrade a card anymore :D

After some personal play testing, I agree some QoL work is needed. I felt that not being able to see my card pool while choosing a relic / potion was the biggest issue. I wasn't particularly bothered by being forced to choose every reward each time. The chance that the card I was offered was the card I wanted was pretty low. I was playing with binary on most of the time to balance the mod, so maybe I'm biased in that regard. But it shouldn't be too bad to implement so I'm still down to add it.

The sapphire key bug is makes sense and should be an easy fix.

Yeah, actually playing with this mod, I can definitely see it actually being a hassle. I know there's a "reward skipped" event that you might be able to use, and it'd only trigger if someone otherwise passed up the reward? Or maybe having it only trigger while the player is holding shift, or... something.

On a separate point, it seems not to respect the linking that relics have with the Sapphire Key. (Which also sorta makes me consider why the Sapphire Key is the only thing that employs the linking mechanic, but that's a subject for another time.) I just grabbed the Ornamental Fan out of a chest (I decided to just stick with the relic that was offered, since the ornamental fan is a pretty good one), and I was able to grab the Sapphire Key after the fact.

That’s a great point @Crimson, it’s a lot of clicking and scrolling especially with common cards. The Risk of Rain gamemode this is based on also has this pacing problem. I’ll look into alternatives like left clicking or toggling the mod on and off with some other UI.

Maybe give this mod the QoL tag? I haven't gotten the chance to look at the mod itself just yet, but this seems like an extreme quality-of-life improvement, for the kinds of players/runs that'd want it, especially for heavily-modded games.

I do want to ask how the mod interacts with circlets, specifically. When doing endless runs, I generally have to skip the first two boss chests completely, because I know I absolutely don't want to pick any of them up, so I was wondering how this might impact my circlet collection. :)

Picking any combination of artifacts that triggers an Enter the Gungeon combo crashes the game, and picking anything that gives card rewards while in a shop has some unusual interactions.
