There is an incompatibility with Vanilla Furniture Expanded-Spacer Module, You cant assign people with their Lovers/Spouses in the menu, you can just select them individually but that's not much better than vanilla. https://ibb.co/8NX1hgy

@The Village Guy actually, it would help with dealing with Sanguophages that have partners or Royalty titles, since sleeping in a deathrest casket automatically assigns it to them. It's weird because the game already keeps track of who the casket becomes bound to, so its a pain that pawns don't just deathrest in their bonded casket without resetting bed assignments every couple of days.

NGL, I'd love a feature with this to allow a person to be assigned to multiple beds.

it would help immensely if it showed which pawns are NOT already sleeping together. maybe with some color. right now you have to check individually which ones need to sleep together

Weirdly this doesn't work with Vanilla Furniture Expanded Spacer Module, at least for it there is no option for them to assign two peopel together as lovers/spouses but i cna on plain vanilla beds

Please for love of all that is holy add the keeping bed assignments. Playing a raiding style game, so my combat troops often leave the base. This constantly means i have to reassign beds and its important as 3 of them have titles...

Yeah, when a pawn leaves the map, beds, thrones and deathrest caskets all get unassigned. They do not get re-assigned when the pawn re-enters the map, and require manual assignment.

It's less of a problem for a generic colonist you don't have special requirements for (ignoring RP), but for jealous pawns, or worse, royalty/sanguophages, it's an absolute hassle to keep re-assigning their beds, thrones and caskets every single caravan. I also RP rooms, so this exacerbates the issues as I have to re-assign every single colonist manually. (current playthrough is royal sanguophages, very frustrating)

This feature should've been part of vanilla in Royalty, but it was never added, and still isn't now in Biotech years later with yet another assigned "thing". Just baffling.

Also to update my mod comments, the "keep bed ownership" mod broke entirely with the latest update, and "use bedrolls" doesn't remember things either, so now there's no mod out there that has this functionality working.

@Necril that's a lot clearer, thank you. I guess it's not remembered in vanilla because once a colonist leaves a map it's no longer part of that map, which probably leads to errors in the game when the bed is left assigned.

I think DAOWAce's request is pretty straight forward. I was looking for the same thing which he describes and thought the mod had it. The idea is to simply have beds remember who their owner is when the owner is not on the map. Every time the pawns go on a caravan the beds get unassigned and I have to manually reassign every single pawn. I don't understand why they don't remember where they slept.

@DAOWAce I would recommend explaining in detail what you would like it to do. Can't make any promises that it will actually be implemented, though.

For some reason this is STILL not in vanilla, when it's a massive QoL improvement, especially with the expansions and losing thrones/caskets. (Tynan!)

The first mod does only that, but has been bugged with Biotech's Deathrest caskets. (mod author seems to be MIA)
The second does more than assign beds (and can cause weird functionality).

I believe this functionality would be right at home in a simple bed assignment mod.

Would love to do this myself, but I don't know any coding language or how Rimworld mods even work. Attempted to look at source of the first mod, but it's all runic symbols to me.

On the off chance you have time to work on it. Could it be possible to assign prisoners as well to beds? To move around higher value ones for example.

It would be nice if this mod also made it possible to assign prisoners to beds, as well as add an option to remember bed assignments when pawns leave the map. Currently I need 2 mods beside this one to do this, but I think it y'all should combine them into one mod.

@Ferfelende Shako it doesn't change anything in the bed ownership mechanics, just the way beds are assigned using the UI

It seems I just misunderstood the conversation. I thought that comment was saying that assigning pawns to prisoner beds was impossible because it was hard-coded or something. (That's just how I interpreted the "Vanilla thing" phrase.)

@Thundercraft: You can't assign owners to prisoner beds in vanilla. That mod makes it possible. Why would that mod exist if it were possible in vanilla?

I'm not certain I understand your statement correctly because the word "pawns" covers a very broad spectrum in this game - including animals. Are you saying that you can't assign colonists to prisoner beds, or are you saying that it's not even possible to assign prisoners to prisoner beds?

If you believe it is the latter, then I feel compelled to point out the existence of this mod:
Set Owner for Prisoner Beds - Description: "Adds a 'Set owner' function for prisoner beds."

Since that mod is a thing, then it clearly must be possible to assign prisoners to prisoner beds. And since that mod has been updated to 1.4, then it clearly can NOTbe an issue with changes in 1.4. The most recent comment even reports that it "works just fine".

@thewanderingoutsider I think that would be very difficult as you'd basically be splitting beds in half, turning them into 2 beds

Would it be possible to have slaves and colonists sleep in the same bed together or is that just too complicated. I just find it silly that romance is still possible between slaves and colonists in vanilla but they can't actually do lovin' and I don't really want to disable slave romance attempts.
