Most of the tents are locked to certain tech levels. If you are an industrial tech level, then the primitive tents are not available to you. Personally, I disagree with this philosophy, and think that only things higher than your tech level should be locked, but that is how it is.

You can easily change this if you want to edit the mod file directly, but there is no setting to do this in-game.

Sorry if I am unclear, as I am new to rimworld. I meant that I couldn't find the "Viking tent" construction button from the "construction" menu when playing regularly. (The button was physically not there, as if I needed some kind of research to unlock it.) Though I was able select the "Viking tent" when I was in "Development; God mode", and was able to place on map.

Q: For my Rimworld 1.6, I found out that there is no gismos showing up just for the viking tent, even though I set the Ideology limit off for all tents. (Not showing with only this tent mod either, but shows when entering OP God mode.) Could this be a glitch or is there an existing patch to fix this problem?

@JoeOwnage they're fuelable because they give a bonus to comfortable temperature of 10 degrees, both hot and cold. So a fueled tent will keep your pawns warmer in cold weather and cooler in hot weather. If they're not fueled they won't provide this bonus.

Tents should be able to be made out of leather also instead of just cloth.

@AOBA - The description above states set values, but these do not match the actual cost in game (parenthesis below) although the costs listed here are probably the more valid - especially the canopy which is essentially half a cloth tent:

Canopy 10 wood 50 cloth (10 wood, 85 cloth)
Wooden Canopy ++not listed here++ (50 wood)
Teepee 20 wood, 120 cloth (20 wood 90 cloth)
Cloth Tent 20 wood 100 cloth (20 wood 90 cloth)
Viking Tent 30 wood 150 cloth (30 wood 95 cloth)
Modern Tent* 10 plasteel 100 cloth (1 component 100 cloth)
Folding Tent ++not listed here++ (1 component 100 cloth)


I believe the component cost was added for the built-in heaters, but I think they should still cost resources for the framework like the others. Say 10 steel for the modern tent, and 10 plasteel for the folding one?

I've loved this mod since i first found it back in the beta. Thanks for keeping it going! I do have two requests tho:
1. Could you allow the tents to be built under roofs? You can just build roofs over them once they're installed so not being able to build or install them under a roof seems silly.
2. Could you make the Wood Pile function as a container/shelf for wood? I love the look and feeling of having one around my tents, but it feels like a bit of a waste that it can't actually be used for storage.

I love this mod. I just wanted to thank you for being attentive to the update schedule. Camping is my favorite and getting to live it out through my pawns in a landscape like the Rim is so fun.

There's a bug with the mod options; any changes I make are lost when I next start the game. I add to allow non-couples to share tents, but next time I run the game it's unset again.

a bit of a 'bug' of sorts with the industrial tents and folding tents, there is no option for any of the leather materials. I cant make a folding tent out of thumbofur for better building hp or beauty.

would it be able to add some dubs hygyene support for this mod, and allow you to toggle a tent as an "outhouse", which allow pawns to get their bladder and hygiene needs met privately ?

There's a minor problem with this mod.
Whenever u go to sleep and if you have a handler with theirs pets set to "follow master while doing field work" the pet won't leave to eat/sleep until they are awake

Can we get an update to make them only use up fuel when they are occupied? It seems wrong for them to be burning fuel throughout the day when nobody is using them.

I found a mistake in the code for this mod and would like to report it.
In Rimworld Ver. 1.4, the annotation for Tent.PawnRenderer_RenderCache.Prefix is ​​incorrect, which causes a failure error to be displayed in Harmony Patch.
There is one typeof(bool) missing in the annotation, so it does not match the argument of the target method.

This mod adds 3 Cloth Industrial Tents to the Crashlanded scenario; 2 Generic Teepee, and 3 Generic Canopy to the Lost Tribe scenario, and 1 Cloth Folding Tent to the Rich Explorer scenario. Naturally it adds nothing to the Naked Brutality scenario.

However, the newer scenarios currently do not have any tents added by this mod. I would suggest adding 1 tent for The Mechanitor , 2 tents for The Sanguophage and 3 tents for The Anomaly (the ghoul does not need sleep)

EDIT - I went ahead and made the patch myself. I have opened a discussion called "Patch2" on where one can find the script posted. The first is for the 1.4 folder, the second is for the 1.5 folder.

@AOBA - Please feel free to create these patches and add it to the mod, or contact me and I'll send a dropbox link.

As default the colony will start with a tent for every pawn. Is there a way to start without tents? I want want them for caravans and not for an easier start. Thank you.

You just uninstall them like a bed and carry them with you. This is done automatically if you combine it with the Use Bedrolls mod.

Vanilla Sleeping Spot - 0.8
Vanilla Wooden Bed - 1

Canopy - 0.85

Tent - 0.9
VikingTent - 0.95
ModernTent - 1
FoldingTent - 1

A legendary Modern tent will provide 160% rest effectiveness, the same as a wooden bed.

You can get around it by changing a few lines in the mod, if you want. Open this file in a text editor:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\294100\2407128339\1.5\Defs\ThingDefs\Buildings_Tent.xml

Then search for <techLevel>, and everywhere it shows up, replace the words between those tags with <techLevel>Medieval</techLevel>

So,
<techLevel>Neolithic</techLevel>

becomes
<techLevel>Medieval</techLevel>

Then save and load your game, and you should be able to build them all.

That seems annoying I'm doing a medieval playthrough so can't progress how to medieval, no longer build the biking tent wanted to build a community of just tents that's really annoying

@djdazzza, The tent types you are allowed to build is determined by your tech level. If you use a mod that progresses your tech level as you do research, then primitive tents may become unavailable to you as you learn more.

My tribals can learn to build a spaceship and leave the planet, but they will never be smart enough to build a modern tent.

You can set a tent to be used for medical, and it works like any other medical bed.

It really is confusing when the mod description doesn't match up with the tents the mod actually adds. It really should be updated. Or the item descriptions in-game being made actually informative rather than a single line of fluff.

Tried this mod with Hospitality but sadly it don't work, like when a guest sleeps on a tend they don't get the Hediff, prob its because when I set to For guests it make a version of the tend so the guest can sleep on it but it don't get the actual properties of the original tend to fully work.

Commenting for the yurt. It would be awesome to have these so when your mouse is over them there a little 6×6 that you can make up as a regular bedroom
