More Resin

5-8 resin is normal.(this happens with most addons that add something to the main campaign)
this tends to happen if you have 10-18 mods enabled. HOWEVER for some reason merciless tends to fix it.

@Bionic as in, there's 5 of them inside of each other or laying around in one spot? no that shouldn't happen. to me that would mean there's 5 copies of the VMAP for that level in memory.
Bionic 24 Sep @ 2:29pm
Is it normal for the red resin type to have 5-8 resin in one location? Almost all my new resin finds has had this issue.
ur_stoobid 14 Jul @ 1:35pm
2 placements make it impossible to get the new resin:

chapter 2 map 2: under the lockers in the upgrade station room (there are invisible walls preventing you from grabbing it)

chapter 3 map 2 behind the fence (it's a wall how are you supposed to grab it)

(please fix)

@Jared only the ones i added are red. since they're shaded red, they'll only look red in direct light. you can carry them towards light to check if they are the new ones. i kinda didn't want to add any new textures for this mod, so i opted for shaders, which is a flag you can modify directly on entities. it might not have been the best design choice, but i felt like it made just enough sense, since the level resin pods are introduced in have a pretty good amount of light.

i haven't played Alyx for quite some time but i recall mods not working if you didn't start a new game. if you start a new game with the mod enabled, you can skip to starting with Chapter 2, as there are no new red resin pods before the game introduces them, and no new pods after the game's final upgrade station.
Jared Fogle 14 Dec, 2024 @ 10:19pm
are only the new ones red or are they all red with this mod on, because i havent seen any red ones yet
lemoncurdman 1 Dec, 2024 @ 12:07pm
Do you think you could make a similiar mod but for ammo?
Mentlegen [Iron Knights] 29 Nov, 2024 @ 2:28pm
compatible with novr mod?
Dethilion 29 Sep, 2024 @ 1:54am

Really makes you look at barrels and crates in a different way too
MicroMay 7 Dec, 2023 @ 4:17am
Like I just looked around in the stupidest spots thinking "yeah if I was making a mod like this I'd def have resin hidden here, you have to do so much stupid stuff to get here" and almost every time there was resin there
MicroMay 7 Dec, 2023 @ 1:22am
Love this mod, especially how hidden your resin is, I was so frickin happy finding my first big resin thing
TuckerTaco 9 Nov, 2023 @ 3:01am
resin pods are no longer fully red, nor do they give multiple resin.
Player43963 28 May, 2023 @ 10:59am
Really cool spots, nice job 10/10
Kahuu 15 Apr, 2023 @ 11:26am
I would like to have an option to configure the amount of resin dropped/spawned
N-T-S-M 20 Mar, 2023 @ 9:19am
@Squeaky_Is_Evil

It takes a lot of time and attention to get to the 2 Resin. Namely over the railing, down the stairs and between the narrow pipe passages. The same Path then back.
Squeaky_Is_Evil 19 Mar, 2023 @ 5:21pm
theres 2 resin that are impossible to get in is or will be. On the part with the hanging combine there is a gate with 2 resin behind it. i cant even get them
N-T-S-M 17 Feb, 2023 @ 7:01am
Nice! More Upgrades in a short time. :)
chrisraven4321 25 Oct, 2022 @ 10:28pm
I played the original game and ended up with all my equipment maxed out, so gathering more resin would not be a great benefit. What I would really like to see is a random issue added so that each time you play the scene is different. That way one cannot save and then go back and kill off the enemy by knowing where and how they are going to react. Not to likely to happen as it seems that that is to complicated for a mod, but in my estimation it would make the game much more challenging.
Oggboy 5 Sep, 2022 @ 12:08am
if we scroll up a tiny bit, we see ''Enemy & NPC Types''
now we have some things here and there, but only thing i don't understand
is what they have with ''Combine Soldiers, Headcrabs, Zombies, Antlions,'' to do,
or even ''jeff'' why?:headcrab:

@Ace Detective
The fact that this mod adds new resin without causing a natural shortage very much makes the game easier, but you'll have to earn it at the cost of heavy exploration. You can also max upgrades before the game ends, which makes end-game less distracting when you don't need to scavenge anymore.

I'd like to hear from anyone who maxed upgrades which chapter they accomplished it in, because my best estimate is that it can happen in chapter 6.
LighterST 30 Jun, 2022 @ 4:10pm
Does it make the game easier by a lot? Or there is a resin shortage in the original game that makes it impossible to upgrade everything, so more resin is better?

@TheThreeGsEverywhere
Thank you very much, glad to hear you're having fun.
Skummeh 11 May, 2021 @ 2:30pm
Played this for a bit and liked some of your hiding spots. Scavenging isn't really my bread and butter but this is definitely cool. Short video here on level 2: https://youtu.be/k5eu57xdEG0
Skummeh 1 May, 2021 @ 8:18pm
OK cool...I may try to do a full playthru once I'm done reviewing the new maps.

Feel free to share information or upload any gameplay videos you want related to this mod without permission.
Skummeh 1 May, 2021 @ 12:32pm
Normally I play and record full mods but I'm thinking that you may not want that as people could too easily reference my video to find them. I think I'll record a video where I find a few early ones in chapter 2 and then end it there just to show off the mod a little bit only. Would that be OK with you?
Fledermaus 31 Mar, 2021 @ 8:30pm
Oh ok, thanks for the clarification!
sonikku dammit  [author] 31 Mar, 2021 @ 2:29pm
Room scale is recommend just so that it's guaranteed you'll be able to reach everything I've hidden. I've measured it's about six feet at most, or 2x2m. So if playing standing is comfortable for you you can still play with this mod, but there may be some resin pods you won't be able to get to, because you need the room scale to walk close enough up to them. Those are quite uncommon so it's still fine to play standing, also you likely won't even notice you've missed them.
Fledermaus 30 Mar, 2021 @ 10:03pm
Why does this need Room Scale tracking? I use standing as i dont have the room for room scale

So I just released a campaign Resin Detector addon and someone quickly asked whether it works with this mod. It does! I only tested a little, but so far in the QZ chapter I found it really fun, it didn't feel like "cheating" to me at all. The placement of the resin is clever enough that you still have to put thought and effort into finding them. So this might be a good compromise for the obsessive completionists out there.

I carefully considered the idea of releasing level totals and decided it would not be in the best interest. There isn't really a 100% reward or anything, and it would also lessen replayability, where the point of the mod was to sort-of 'refresh' the replayability.

I can tell you one thing, there is actually a total of 142 resin pods in the mod, across 16 maps, comes to an average of 8.875 per level. So if you've found 5-7 and aren't really finding more, then it's probably a good idea to move on.

A little potential spoiler you may notice I had a tendency to not put resin pods in areas with heavily-scripted combat sequences, as the combat itself is too distracting for exploration.

If you want the actual totals for a 100% attempt I can private message a screenshot of them and let you go for it, it may be rather tough but if you feel like you're up for the task I'll share it. You have to accept the friend request however.
Night_Rage 16 Mar, 2021 @ 3:48am
Could we get a number of Red Resin on each level, so people, like me, can hunt until we find them? I love hunting for them, but a general idea on how many are in each area would be nice, so i dont spend 3 hours on one level, looking in super weird spots.
sonikku dammit  [author] 5 Mar, 2021 @ 7:44am
It's easy to miss but when you start a new game, turn on all add-ons you want to play with, and hit "START WITH ADD-ONS" if you just hit "start" it won't load with any add-ons. The buttons are right next to each other so I made that mistake a couple of times.

Also keep in mind that you're not supposed to find these add-on resin pods easily; such as you open a container, you find a resin pod, that's how Valve wanted it to be, mine are all much more hidden than that. I made it very easy in the beginning chapters, then it gets more challenging, all the way up to unforgivable in the later chapters.

This mod idea is kind of similar to the lambda caches in Half-Life 2, where if you're exploring more of the level than the average player, you'll likely be rewarded with a little extra buff.
BEANOZ 4 Mar, 2021 @ 3:55pm
there isnt any resin for me, do i have to not have any other mods with it? im going to unsub and sub again to try it again. i will let you know if it works or not
Noah.T. 27 Feb, 2021 @ 4:08pm
Thx
sonikku dammit  [author] 27 Feb, 2021 @ 4:02pm
There's no red resin in the first chapter, only in Chapter 2 onward. When you pick up the first resin that already exists in the game, where Russell says "Ah, resin..." etc, that's when the mod begins.

The room with the final fabrication station in Chapter 10 is where the mod ends, where Russell says "you probably won't get a chance to use one of these again."
Noah.T. 27 Feb, 2021 @ 11:49am
Are any of the hidden resin in the first chapter?
Mighty⭐ 16 Feb, 2021 @ 1:20am
Thanks for this one! gonna try it out later

You should add even more colors. shaded based on difficulty to find them
so green would = easy. yellow = medium. red = hard
it would be cool finding a red one and being surprised that you found a super-hidden one
