Haven't played for around 3 weeks now due to exams.
Almost did one campaign with the new settings before that though: It was with Rakarth so didn't get any mage heroes until pretty late. I think it was pretty resonable droprate wise. Definately didn't get enough items that I could equip all but my most important characters.
Did get a lot of followers though so thats odd. Maybe just lucky dice rolls.

WIll do.. But like you said, it requires a lot of stacking, and if you're wanting to stack it, then you should get more.. But we'll see!

But yea 70% may drown you in items towards the end of the campaign. If you play through a campaign with this lemme know if you got too many items.

It's just a max chance.
You would need to collect items with magic item drop chance or have 2 magic heroes with 3 points in their scouting skill to hit 70%.
The idea is, that if you want to have more items you invest in it and get rewarded. It feels bad to be capped at 30% if you really want item drops in one of your armies.

If the ai gets more items that will give you more items to steal. I don't remember the chance to steal after battle but its not touched by me and depends on difficulty. They also use their heroes pretty badly so an item won't help them much if they run Jon Snow style into your army before they get backup.

I'll let you know how i feel is balanced one SFO gets updated :) 70 might be s big to much, but it is a decent investment trying to get it up that high.

I wonder if the ai should get a slightly higher base buff.

Ok increased max droprate to 70%(from 30%). Now you decide yourself how much you want to drop by investing in skills and items with magic item drop rate.

This means if you put 3 points into the scouting skill you should have a 25% chance to find an item just from one spellcaster in your army!

Just checked to be sure::
Spellcasters have a 10% base chance of STEALING an item from another lord after battle (they must have an item equipped to steal of course).
The base chance is modified by difficulty aswell though but not by me. I left steal chance at default.
AND
a 10% base DROP CHANCE of an item after battle.

Did auto correct mess up your post? Anyway if I understand you correctly there is a base drop rate for items(equipment) in the game (as in a drop rate before skills and items change them). This mod used to set it 5%(from 40% default). Now I changed it to 0%.

The 10% I'm talking about is the skill called "scouting" for spellcasters. They normally have a 10% chance when you embed them before you even invest in their scouting skill that boost it more.

Alright its me again! Slight rework of item droprate; I made it simpler.

Base droprate is now 0% cause why would you get 5% for free? If you want items get a magic user(they almost all have default 10% droprate chance.)

No extra chances based on victory type.

And AI just get a flat bonus drop rate depending on difficulty. Thats all for now.

Increased ITEM max droprate to 30%(from 20%). This is effectively a 50% increase in amount of items dropped(not followers). I found that i barely had enough items to equip my main army with items around turn 50. This should make it a bit easier if you invest in skills- just don't go over 30%. If its too much we will settle on 25%!

Oh wow those are great! And no I haven't seen those before, but I'll add the link in the description. I skimmed through them and didn't see any followers with particularly restrictive requirements, except the pigbarter one which I had already left alone at 100%. Were you thinking on anything in particular?

I don't know if you've seen these tables with all the followers and how to get them. Not sure if it'll be worth increasing the parentage on the ones that have a harder requirement?

Well that's kind of the point. What droprate would you like to increase? If you want more followers you can go into export_ancillaries__.lua and do a search and replace for ", 2,"
(without the quotes ) up to 6 and change it to what you would like. Its the % chance of a given follower dropping.
For increasing droprate of items check the previous page.

Updated for silence and fury
+4 to base drop rate=5%(player now goes from 6-8%)
Followers: reduced droprate from 3-7% to 2-6%

Yea I feel like I'm getting a bit too many aswell. But it could just be chance aswell...I think empire especially gets a lot of followers although I set 7 of them to 0%. I will probably drop it down by 1% after my current campaign. And I will increase base dropchance of items to 3% or 4%.

Well I'm using your new set up and getting maybe a touch too many followers playing as gelt. I've got maybe 6-7 and about turn 30 in. Maybe drop it to - 4? Or I'll keep playing and see what happens :)

I've only gotten 2 items though

Yea that would mean your starting chance would be between 5%-7%(mostly 5%-6%) which seems resonable aswell. It's still 2½ and 2 times more than my defaul though, which is a lot relatively speaking.

I think I increased the local chance to 3 or 4. Which just meant with the type of win it was going up to 10? Which is still a pretty low chance, but just means there where some items starting to come through

How much did you increase it? I'm thinking about giving it a few more percen't but I don't feel like I need more items to be honest. You will still get more drops later on if you invest in skills and it feels really good now when you DO get a drop (In vanilla it I hated to get items cause they meant more items to sort through).

Added 2% more dropchance to all followers so now it goes from 3%-7%(before was 1%-5%). also increased dropchance of the following empire followers from -10% to 0:

burgher(1 public order)
bailiff(1 public order)
ferryman(5% campaign los)
watchman(-4% enemy hero succes chance)
peasant(1% income local province)
Agitator(1 public order)
vagabond(7% campaign los)

Please let me know if they drop for you.
I'm interested in knowing if followers has their dropchance modified by anything other than the script.

Yes, that's it. You can also change drop rate depending on victory type starting on line 539, or difficulty, starting line 516. If you want the max chance higher than 20% remember to change line 555+556

I might just increase this slightly, by like 1 or 2%. I'm turn 20 something and fought a bunch of battles, but haven't recieved any random drops from battles. I'll see how it goes.
