Well, I think there were just too many open areas in and around the cap zone. With this implementation, there are still enough routes of entry that you can use. Also, it's about setting up a scenario that is believable. If you were defending those compounds irl, and you had some barbed wire to set up a quick perimeter, you would do such a thing. Attacking a fortified position is rare in this game, I just feel like trying it out. Not saying it will work perfectly or please everyone. But it's different. Also, since nobody has a fixed spawn inside the perimeter, it's not necessarily unfair for anyone. Honestly in the official version, usually from the perspective of the Cobra, I can barely recall a time when E has been successfully defended.

But I just don't understand why you would place them. They seem really weird and at the very least feel out of place. It's really not intuitive to charge the cap, get to the wall and through the door only to find that you're being funneled through gaps in barbed wire.
