2 questions though: the turrets at the bottom but inside the ship - don't i kill myself with them?
Is this ship missing some shield generators when building it? I only have 1750 (100%) shield :O
How does this work? Do I have to add more shields somewhere?
This thing is really something special. Really enjoyed just walking around and looking at things. Really amazing stuff.
Hey, SMART BUILD, putting the Shield 1x Reinforced Crap block away from the outside.
That's absolutely terrible mate, wtf? And right through there is an open room with the warp drive.
POGU
I'm guessing you RP alot
For the additional turrets, 12 of them are reserved for heavy plasma turrets (12 is device limit). The others are up to you. Also you can place the other turrets in other empty places... it is totally up to you and do not have to follow the instruction :)
btw, is there any chance we have this on vanilla?
Two more gens, two more drive thrusters to support additional heavy turrets. (12 heavy plasma, 6 heavy cannons). Yes, device limits are extended so you can theoretically have 96+48 = 144 turrets, but for athena, I only reserved 114 turrets, which are more than enough
24 Plasma turrets for CV2CV battle. you can have 12 more heavy plasma to lower target's shield effectively.
@TypicallyDrunk Thanks a lot for noticing my efforts :) the design efforts on thrusters are actually
1) putting them apart so that you can navigate even if you lose some of the thrusters.
2) putting the thrusters at the backside and all the decoy and defense mechanism at the front side to reduce the weight while you can have maximum defense if you keep the ship's nose toward the target ship.
When I tested this ship, I drove this ship directly in front of dreadnought and kept the nose right in front of the cockpit of dreadnought to destroy core in short time. Usually it takes less than 5 minutes (my record is 2.5 minutes) if you can aim well with 12 Artillery (Rocket) Launchers. Still I did not lose any thruster while losing most of the front bumper and some turrets.
Regarding XENO Ship, I am trying to come up with better design to maximize xeno's advantage rather than using this ship's design pattern. This is an effort to reduce weight & CPU power while having much better defense mechanism. But, this would need much more field test & I have to wait for 1.4 update due to explosion logic changes :)
You can get 500k xeno material per POI if you hit the right ones.
Just gather the blocks and drop em into factory.
Boom - unlimited xeno blocks.
I feel like this ship should have a full xeno exterior and armor sections.
Other wise it looks great.
30 quantum is pretty heavy but coupled with aux cores that isn't undoable for an end game Flag Ship.
Nonetheless, the other resources are relatively easy if you salvage Zirax Frigate or equivalent capital vessels with 2.1 Mil ~ 4 Mil CPU war ships. Especially if you know where the core is, then you can even get all the turret resources easily by salvaging with tool turrets.
One more side comment is that this ship is intended for heavy fight or critical fight to gather XENO blocks in Legacy space and Astroid Field hunt for gold/Aluminum/Platinum, so I ususally use much lighter ships for other purposes because this ship requires huge resources to operate as well.
FYI, Full XENO ship with proper design and enough turrets can be much stronger than this ship with much lower CPU power :)
I tried Combat Steel, but it required too much CPU power and generators to get enough agility... XENO could have been the option, but I decided not to use it because most of users would not have that much XENO materials yet :) Legacy is still tough.
This ship has total block count of 19,859, and I could have easily used 10,000 XENO blocks which would require 120,000 XENO material...
