Ok any way I have discovered a way to make a speed gun in space :D so I was kinda gonna put it on hold
Conrad Larson  [author] 12 Dec, 2014 @ 9:11pm
It's fine I'll get around to it at some point in the near future.
Torca 12 Dec, 2014 @ 8:48pm
If you want me to though

Well I could grab the ship and use a few SE tools and a ton of transferring and converting and making the ship into a up to date blueprint and I could sent you it may take a day or two to get into the world first though
Torca 12 Dec, 2014 @ 8:28pm
Yeh auto turrets on spinning platforms :D
Lol just stuff the interior full of pipes and containers never ending storage ship with big ass guns :D
Conrad Larson  [author] 12 Dec, 2014 @ 11:37am
Yeah this ship is incredibly old and obsolete. If the world ever gets truly playable I want to strip out her interior completely and refit her like I've done with one of my other ships. I think it'd be outstanding, plus I could use advanced rotors for the turrets.

Also be nice if it was a blueprint

I gotta say Conrad you have some big as hell obsession with firepower as much as I like to comment on your work lol but nice work i could never make a ship this big without getting worried of the wasted internal space

Great one. I find it funny that it is named the behemoth, as the behemoth is "the largest land creature to ever exist". Finding a behemoth in space is surprising :) good work.

Okay. That's too bad, the Behemoth looks really cool.
Conrad Larson  [author] 20 May, 2014 @ 2:18pm
No idea how many gyros at present. Not nearly enough I'm sure. This was built before grav drives were a thing (As in artificial mass blocks) so it doesn't have on installed, and I can't really access the map well enough to add one. I am however working on a new dreadnought to replace this in the fleet, it's called the Erymanthian.
Irony Man 20 May, 2014 @ 9:00am
How many gyroscopes do you have in it? Have you considered using a gravity drive to power it?
Conrad Larson  [author] 8 Mar, 2014 @ 5:04pm
@michael.stanger the ship does have some interior thrusters, though I tend to dislike using them, and the point of this ship isn't really to go anywhere fast.

I have begun slightly refitting her to make her move better though, cutting out a lot of the interior armour where it's not needed.

Not everybody uses interior thrusters. I was actually cutting them all out to try and get her into a battleship contest on the KSH forums. It's a lot of effort though.
michael.stanger 8 Mar, 2014 @ 5:00pm
hm you should at interior trusters and is the ship heavy armor on the inside ? if yes remove that armor and use light or interior blocks because at the moment heavy armor on the inside makes ships just indestructibe and unmoveable its only for the outer layers and please i have seen bigger ships fly and with big ships everybody uses interior trusters
[1st Colonial] SolusGaming 8 Mar, 2014 @ 8:33am
true, and i geuss that there is so much armor that you get though the hull.
Conrad Larson  [author] 7 Mar, 2014 @ 8:43pm
@tmcg721, technically with that much armour they'd have to use a lot of missiles (and in a survival situation I don't know how many a boarding ship could rightly hold).

The escape pods as I've built them only hold 1 man each, right isn't great, but that's the issues with space. If rotors worked flush I'd like to build protected lifeboats instead.

The Behemoth isn't meant to engage at close quarters anyway. She's meant to drop in a massive amount of firepower at range with the main guns as part of an escort fleet. So there'd be other ships and craft to run around her if need be. She'd just sit at range, show her topside, and spit hot lead.
[1st Colonial] SolusGaming 7 Mar, 2014 @ 5:50pm
ok, lets say the ship has been boarded and the defenders can not hold the ship. how many men can the escape pods hold? is there a part of the ship in which the crew can regain the uper hand? how would you make up for the lower back part of the ship having a fewer ammount of waepon, and do not get me wrong, but lets face it the back of the ship where the engines are located is a blind spot. p.s, i looked at you map and yes the armor is thick but with some time and cover fire a boarding ship could still get blow or drill their way in.
Conrad Larson  [author] 7 Mar, 2014 @ 3:42pm
@tmcg721 You're about right. I'm thinking about sticking a tonne of interior thrusters in the armour on the read (Map shows just how solid this area is) and adding more gyros too. I might be able therefore to make her move.

At the moment she really is living up to her name though. I do have hull classifications (Fortress ships) designed to not move much, but not be stations. Behemoth could be a fortress, but I didn't build her with that in mind (Wouldn't be as ship shaped)
[1st Colonial] SolusGaming 7 Mar, 2014 @ 2:41pm
Yep, makeing this thing move would be hard, but i do see that this could just make it as a space fortress
Conrad Larson  [author] 7 Mar, 2014 @ 8:18am
@Evienn Exactly I imagine (with warp cores and stuff) that she'd just warp into a conflict and then sit and kill. I might take some of the armour off (making a cutaway map now that'll show what I mean) and fill her with more thrusters.
Evienn 7 Mar, 2014 @ 7:54am
Yeah, the only way you're going to move something that massive is by filling the inside with more thrusters. But with that much firepower and armor, who needs to move? lol
Conrad Larson  [author] 7 Mar, 2014 @ 7:12am
@Evienn, yeah I might do a labelled cutout. and relight the stairs. Activating the door terminals will tell you what you're entering though.

@tmcg721 Even without the guns she's 131,000 tonnes. I don't know if removing them would make her any better.
[1st Colonial] SolusGaming 7 Mar, 2014 @ 4:52am
14 guns, i mean.
[1st Colonial] SolusGaming 7 Mar, 2014 @ 4:51am
man you want this thing to move? get rid of some guns, i mean come on, 13 guns, thats just too many. cool ship, too many lbs.
Evienn 6 Mar, 2014 @ 7:22pm
Awesome ship, the exterior looks fantastic. I agree it is pretty difficult to navigate, a labeled cut out would make a good map. You could also add some colored interior lights at the top of some of the stairs to indicate what deck you are on. My only other suggestion would be to make the guns a bit more effective. Even though it wouldnt look as good, making a long armored strip of rocket launchers would make better use of the massive turret mounts. Still, its great as it is.
