That being said, would be nice for there to be a version that doesn't affect handheld torches. Shadows look a bit wonky on them with how they interact with the player model.
Sterling Kerman 18 Aug @ 10:46pm
100% worth the performance loss. Great work, thank you.
dio2o99 14 Apr @ 3:02pm
Same here@SJLavr. 2x1070 SLI 12 fps. Could be a conflict with another mod. No clue.
Captain Gigaflop AssJack 26 Feb @ 8:42pm
This is amazing thank you, changes the whole atmosphere for interiors at night
SJLavr 24 Nov, 2024 @ 4:41am
Not working
3080 14FPS
Please write in more detail
In which file and folder should I add these parameters.
The Hawke 31 Aug, 2024 @ 11:55pm
I'm running a GTX1660 Super 4GB. No performance loss.
Amazing lighting effect. Love it.

Note:
I play on my own server.
Add the:

'[ShadowQuality@3]
r.Shadow.CachedShadowsCastFromMovablePrimitives=1'

to your own PC Conan files, NOT your server files.
No difference when added to the server files.
The world lit up when added to my CE files, playing on my server.

Damn how pretty it made the game, but the performance drop is just way too much. God damn how i wish it wasnt so. This is what the game should've looked like. And if it could be implemented in a performance friendly way, it would give conan exiles fresh breathing for many years probably. Right now the vanilla shadows and lights just look like crap and it takes so much out of it
ShepardTheDestroyer™ 23 Sep, 2023 @ 5:43pm
Doesn't work for me unfortunately, and this is my only real gripe with the game.
Grimsyxd 9 Jul, 2023 @ 2:32pm
game changer, thank you
Zerkander 24 Jun, 2023 @ 9:53am
This is incredible, it makes the game feel so much more alive. Anyhow, the fps drop is too steep.

Eventhough I dropped down to 15-20fps in my way too filled up build, I cannot let my server mates suffer my desires for perfect light-effects. All this said, this should've been a base-game option.

Really good work!
AstroCat 17 May, 2023 @ 10:08am
Found this mod... 10700k + 4090, major fps loss like 20-30! :)
PaxExterminatus 9 Oct, 2022 @ 1:19pm
9FPS on 1660 Ti
Lilith 23 Dec, 2021 @ 8:30am
My fps with these settings dropped to non-playable, 1060 6 GB
vipfest 23 Oct, 2021 @ 12:15pm
I noticed that after the last game update the MOD worked perfectly again, as it was before the disastrous lighting update of the game, which lowered the graphics and lighting making the game dull, opaque and ugly, and the NPCs artificial and lifeless, I'm very happy that the MOD is working perfectly as it was in the past.
This MOD is very special, it makes it possible to work with shadows and lights giving an infinite possibility, thanks for the amazing work!
Exiss 28 Sep, 2021 @ 5:38pm
This is great and should have been included in base game... but yes, the performance hit is huge. sub 25 FPS on a 5900X/3080 at 1440P in heavily lit areas lol. When not around the lighting, 144+ FPS. It's probably an engine limit. Looks great though. I'm also using cinematic preset though on shadows, that may make a little difference.
DaemonGrin 19 Aug, 2021 @ 2:44pm
This with the reduced fog mod I used made my build ares quite beautiful but omg it bogged my game to a crawl, wish I could continue using it but alas my beastly PC is several years old and is on it's last legs. Be great if there was a toggle option for screenshots I would leave it installed for sneaky snaps. Thanks for the work~!
LilMissHentai  [author] 15 Aug, 2021 @ 8:55pm
This does not change any graphical settings at all.
Feesh 11 Aug, 2021 @ 3:54pm
Hello, even after removing this mod my games visuals are now entirely blurry, almost like a wierd 3d setting. How do I revert this?
Melekaiah 7 Aug, 2021 @ 7:43am
3060ti here and it runs like a dream and looks great. ran on my 980 as well but it was a lil chippy with any more than 3 light sources in a scene :). love this mod though!
CoolINaturrBoy 22 May, 2021 @ 2:35pm
Ah .. I understand..
No problem..
LilMissHentai  [author] 22 May, 2021 @ 2:23pm
I guess that is not possible as the actual light source is static on most items.
CoolINaturrBoy 22 May, 2021 @ 1:26pm
Is it possible we get to see like Fire's shadows flickering moving detail?
vipfest 5 May, 2021 @ 6:10pm
OMG! the game had an incredible light, that last update of the light left the game horrible, without leftovers, opaque, without depth.
I think even the MOD stopped working because I no longer see the dynamic light effect, for God's sake help us!
Nuxes 30 Mar, 2021 @ 4:44pm
This took my framerate from 100 to 30 on a 1080ti.
🄺🅂🄴🄽🄾モーフ 14 Mar, 2021 @ 9:49pm
wow damn cant believe what a big visual difference that makes. looks so much better now and no problem on my 3060ti. thanks a ton mate. one of my fave mods now
KoTenila 22 Jan, 2021 @ 5:30am
nice, but 1-10 fps on 1066 )
Bottle0rum 8 Jan, 2021 @ 3:48pm
Can this work on lower shadow settings or is Ultra the only option?
Dani.B 2 Jan, 2021 @ 4:01pm
Like the ideia, but hell no, 3 fps serve here. XD
Last Watcher 1 Jan, 2021 @ 2:05pm
darn, I was hoping it was somehow lowering the ambient light that is way too strong (and hence diminishing the shadows)
LilMissHentai  [author] 1 Jan, 2021 @ 1:17pm
@Last Watcher: to some degree - this mod changes user placables (everything that is a subclass of bp_pl_placeable_master) - this does not touch the global illumination.
Last Watcher 1 Jan, 2021 @ 1:15pm
I have been looking so long for the mod that did this earlier but that was withdrawn. Thank you!

I wonder if this also fixes the issue I have with map building, where I have to add post processing darkness to every cavern. This would turn it naturally into darkness?
LilMissHentai  [author] 1 Jan, 2021 @ 1:07pm
to be honest, I never tested that - it should have no performance impact on lower settings, as shadows simply will not render.
Gnadolin 1 Jan, 2021 @ 1:05pm
Question:
When I put that on a private server, each client still has to individually prime it via the ini edit?
So it becomes optional for each player to use it or not?
Or do I fry the weaker GPU's of older clients when I place this mod server side?
KittenpasteCo 31 Dec, 2020 @ 3:22pm
I want to try this sooo badly... but I doubt my 1080Ti could handle this. ;.;
T0G1 30 Dec, 2020 @ 11:32am
@LilMissHentai Thank you for your response.

I was try that immediatery and YEAH It works very fine!!!
That cosole command is best solution for my issue.

This is the screenshot.

FPS drop down to 18-43 near this base at night. Enough to enjoy.

Thank you for your great work.
This mod makes us happy XD

Best regards,

Togi
LilMissHentai  [author] 30 Dec, 2020 @ 8:08am
@Togi: you can try without the Scalability.ini - make yourself admin, open the console (insert key) ingame and enter 'r.Shadow.CachedShadowsCastFromMovablePrimitives 1' - still might crash your system though
T0G1 30 Dec, 2020 @ 5:33am
First,
What a great job!
I hope I will enjoy this mod in the future.

Issue:
My system (or Conan UE4) always crash when using this mod with edit Scalability.ini

Tried:
Unsubscribe and Re-Subscribe - System goes crash.
Not unsubscribe only reset Scalability.ini - Conan work again.

I dont know why.

This is my system information.

CPU : i7 4790K
Memory : DDR3-2133 32gb
Graphics Card : GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (Using 460.89 driver)

Regards,

Togi
CoolINaturrBoy 29 Dec, 2020 @ 2:11am
@ LilMissH%ntai :
Ah , your right ^^,yeah at first i was testing to high from ultra which probably made that happen but after restart fixed the issue 👍 , thx

Oh boy 😅
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2340197199
It looks like after placing more then 4 torches gives my much fps drops ^_^...
Guess my game card doesnt handle this ^^.
Im using GTX 1080..

Suggestion :
- Have thoughts about making it not getting fps drop if placed much light torches?
-Fire ones shadows should have flickering or shaky effects, thoughts of doing that too?

@ vipfest : Yup ^^, indeed Incredible and its the start ^^
vipfest 28 Dec, 2020 @ 11:03pm
This MOD is absolutely incredible, it does very well what it is proposed, I have a last generation video card and I think it is unfortunate that I can't use Conan with Raytrace.

At a minimum, Funcon should incorporate this MOD into the official game, the gain in graphics quality is incredible, even NPCs look more "realistic" with the shadows created on their bodies.

Conan has a huge problem with NPCs, everyone has the same body with different sized breasts, with the shadows we can create "apparently different bodies", even if it is an illusion of shadows, this makes the game much more interesting.

Congratulations, you did an incredible job. I'm very surprised and happy, I'm even going to gift my steam points.
LilMissHentai  [author] 28 Dec, 2020 @ 7:09pm
@CoolImmatureNatureBoy: are you sure you are using ultra shadow quality AND have restarted the game? - in any case, that is what I meant with the shadow engine freaking out =)
CoolINaturrBoy 28 Dec, 2020 @ 2:04pm
K so... i tested this mod out again, and it seems the structure light shadows only happens on one placed structure?
Because i placed both or two torch close together and one of em only casting shadows instead of both,
Is this known bug or its limited?

Jeri 28 Dec, 2020 @ 8:31am
ok ty :)
LilMissHentai  [author] 28 Dec, 2020 @ 8:23am
@Jeri: it can be used in other quality settings too, but the range in which dynamic shadows are cast changes.
Jeri 28 Dec, 2020 @ 7:45am
r.Shadow.CachedShadowsCastFromMovablePrimitives=1 can only be used in Ultra quality? Can the same be put in low, medium and high shadow quality?
CoolINaturrBoy 28 Dec, 2020 @ 7:16am
K, cool ^^
LilMissHentai  [author] 28 Dec, 2020 @ 5:51am
@CoolImmatureNatureBoy: this mod changes placeable light components client side "on the fly" - so yes, you will have to add the mod to your modlist.
Trikopis Einlitz 28 Dec, 2020 @ 4:04am
Bloody hell, now we're talking. Nice mod, jolly nice mod indeed.
DI3SIRAE 28 Dec, 2020 @ 3:34am
This looks great, but is indeed performance hungry... Thing is, i was taking a look at the inis yesterday to adjust the AO and turns out you *can* change some values. Leave all in Ultra and disable or reduce only the effects you want. Then, adding dynamic shadows will look good but without playing on 20 fps. Let's see.

Shadows and Effects on Ultra slows my game... Guess i could change res to 1920x1080 and play with the shadows :lunar2019laughingpig:
🄺🅂🄴🄽🄾モーフ 28 Dec, 2020 @ 2:32am
oh wow finally!!! was always bothered by the lack of shadows. great job
CoolINaturrBoy 28 Dec, 2020 @ 2:08am
OMG!!
This reminds of someone mad a light casting shadows mod for Skyrim !!
Awsome !!
Does this also works as client side? or it needs to be added in as mod workable as singleplayer and server side ,right?
