I notice that since I installed the 5X and UCP mods this one is essentially worthless; there are gobs of systems with no planets, assuming it's working at all; I still can't find any evidence that it's on my computer!

My mods are in Users/<name>/Documents/Master of Orion, but this isn't there.
And a file search for "planets" doesn't show this file anywhere in my directory. I'm pretty sure it wasn't working my last game, either, unless it overlooks Antaran ruins, which essentially make a system planetless.

Subscribing should download the mod. It should appear on the mod list from the main game mods menu.

Okay, I subscribed, but how do I download the mod? I just spent ten minutes clicking on things here to try to get it and nothing does the trick.

Kryshi, the answer to your question is that the game only recognizes home systems and Orion as special. It doesn't have any way for a modder to affect only one system that is close to the human player's home system. You can affect all the systems, or you can affect Orion. More Planets (linked below by optwood) is an example of causing all the systems to have many planets. WhatisSol released a mod a long time ago called https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=938007410 that drops all systems (except homeworlds if you have balanced start turned on) to have only one planet (or gas giant or asteroid belt) in them.

There is the mod More Planets

Damn, so what about spawning such a system close-by or somewhere in the galaxy? Can you force a system to spawn 5+ huge planets if it's not your home system?

Yes, I had a look around, and while it looks like you can change the odds of getting a gas giant or asteroid belt, you cannot have more or less than two planets in each home system.

I think I remember a question like that in the discussion about 5x. If I'm remembering correctly, Spud Dastardly answered that the starting systems are hard coded and unmoddable. You can use balanced start and get your homeworld and one asteroid belt, or you can disable balanced start and get whatever the rng gives you.

Hey, pretty cool mod. I have a question though, do you think it would be possible to make a mod to modify your starting system? Somethink like being able to spawn in a system with 5 huge planets so you can play tall. I couldn't find anything online about modding stuff like that, but your mod changes similar things, so I was wondering if you knew if it was even possible?
