This is me hyperfixating a bit at this point but back to the whole “me wanting it to look Selay-like to be as close to Star Trek-y” maybe you could do a “reverse Lamia” and just have the head, torso, arms, etc be snake-y meanwhile the pelvis and below are humanoid? This is just a suggestion, but it seems cool to build on the Lamia species concept, basically what you did for this, à la turning the Lamia into an entirely different species visually!

It unironically baffles me how much I (and especially my fiancé) get tripped up over dependencies, ignore my previous concerns about the mismatch of the base version. My fiancé has a bad habit of just trusting that mod dependencies are updated and current, (which, TBF, is expected, and IMO it is a bit weird you have both on the dependency list, but maybe you have a reason for that) which doesn't help that the dependencies for the “Lamia Alt Reskin + Larger Tail” item include “Lamia Full Snake Reskin (old)” and the maintained version of it. My other concern about the colours still apply though, still would wish there was more variety with the scale colours

Honestly, now I have a sneaking suspicion that either your “Fangs for Lamia Full Snake Reskin” (this one is a stretch, I'll admit, but it may be some deeper issue since I can see the fangs and longer tail, but no cobra hoods etc) or “Lamia Alt. Reskin + Larger Tail” items are outdated or mismatch with the “base” version of the reskin, which kind of blows because I just want the longer tail out of this, that's all— I don't see why those couldn't be separate if people just wanted the Lamia Alt Reskin or the Larger Tail, not to make this a big deal or anything, it's just that the base Lamia doesn't really fit me at all, so I was looking for a Selay-like species to be as close to Star Trek-y as possible, which yours delivers but doesn't hit the mark for some reason?

I guess a more appropriate question would be how to add colours, so I can better represent myself/my Sona, cuz the restrictiveness with this system is insane? The colours I could choose barely can fit with each other where the hair literally blends in with the scales/body, almost no distinction except maybe a shade or tint tiny bit darker or lighter; I'm also failing to find the cobra hood “hairstyles” too, am I missing something or?

So, I wanted to know how I could maybe do some custom colouring with races/species' but found out that the current system is a pallet based one; so as a roundabout question, there's barely any good in betweens with the scale colours, are there any plans to add more or is there a limit? Was pretty disappointed there isn't a good compromise with green or blue like perhaps a teal colour like #009580 or #008080, don't want to sound rude, I just think that'd be good/cool?

Like I said, wanted to find out if there was any way to do custom colours on the character customization and was met with the fact that it's not built like that, so after reading a few results on the Starbound subreddit one person basically suggested on a similar question “Learn to do it or ask the mod author if they will do it for you will be your best bet.”, so
