cool, good luck with it! with sphered, soap-like tires in this game it gets kinda boring making cars... i would love to have a drift car that only starts to drift at 80 km/h, but at 40 i'm already drifting... btw this is something i would like to tell you since you read my comment: i've tried to drift when i got your addon to work, and it don't let me drift at all!!! no matter how hard i throw the car it grips in again, not very realistic... that's why i would love some basic stuff like what i've said, a sphere that inflates or deflates with a grip slider, i know it's not that easy shit since it requires some knowledge but it may be easier to do all the maths. awesome job!!!

Hrmm, I should reboot this but 3 lua updates later and my already fleeting memory of lua is obsolete. Tire grip is a function of contact patch area and slip velocities. Was going to add a thermal component but I had issues with the entity implimentation as it was and that was when I stopped caring about this. Honestly, I have all the maths and models still and my biggest issue is turning this from a matlab script into a gmod lua entity. The tire pressure gauge would actually cause a tire to "sag" and flatspot, increasing slip at greatly increased rolling resistance, etc

i think this is dead, but if tibbles somehow reads this, do everything again but simplified: because it's hard to model a complete cylinder that spins, instead make spheres that are soft or hard if we want to, with sliders, 0 is as soft as a flat wheel and 100 is as hard as a fully "make-sphericalled" wheel, this way we can have a simple mod that i was trying to do making customized materials on the surface_properties.txt file

Mr White, I've looked into the ACF code and am having Karb commit a change to allow these to be direct linked. As for the body groups, the way Shadow did them, they scale odd, I'm gonna see if I can have a friend of mine make me some nice wheel models to work on. As for the freezing issue, I've found the problem and it will be changed in the next patch, and for the crashing, I've had people report that too. I'll look into it, for I think I know what's causing it. Also the constraint issue should be able to be fixed rather easily. Thanks for the feedback, it's gonna be a little rough till I get all the kinks worked out!

Tried this out in singleplayer and at first I had no traction on dirt with dirt tires. After updating and reloading them, they lose all constraints. Worse, they don't even freeze so if I want to go back and update them on the frozen dupe, I'm boned. Also, it seems that after pasting a dupe with these, they now automatically reload themselves? I tried reloading them myself and they spazzed out whenever I spun them with E2 or tried to move the contraption with the physgun. Also, after choosing a size in the menu, spawning a wheel, and then changing it the size and spawning another wheel, the sprops wheels were of a distorted size. The ones with bodygroups were distorted as well, but only the bodygroup bits. One last thing, after the issues above were experienced and the wheels had fallen off of my frozen dupe when I edited them, I tried to undo the dupe and my game crashed.
