@Gorwdon - not sure what you mean. Commander retirement isn't set based on historical date. It is random, but will only happen if a commander is above a certain age. Also, the chance is lower if the country in question is at war.

Freyburg never retired in ww2 after the war he became the governer general for new zealand in 1953

I was interested in this mod up until I realized that by 1938 three of my best commanders--a field marshal, general, and admiral, all decided to retire. I was playing as Turkey.

I think the mod would be complete if there were an option to maybe use political power to convince them to stay on?

Or, as others have suggested, give us an opportunity to get new commanders.

I ended up removing the mod from my campaign because I was afraid by 1943 all of the custom generals would retire and I'd be left with a bunch of level 1 generics.

@Dougulas, It should work although I guess many commanders are changed / added so there might be a few mistakes when trying to set birth dates, but in general it should be ok (those that doesn't get an age set gets a random one anyway so)
