@corsairmarks Hopefully you can tackle this with your mod. :)

AFAIK this mod mostly still works, **event cpce.2** deals the edge cases, but it'd be nice to not have to do that.

Yes, that would be a good suggestion, never modded Stellaris, but if you could add some lines to trigger the event each time there is a species modification that could solve the issue, rigth not I am just using cpce.2 after each species modification.

Great mod, but I have to confirm what @A Trained Monkey is saying. This is due to the game manually checking with the base event. If you could add this mod activating on gene modification a day later and adding the leader traits back, that would fix this issue.

Thanks for the mod, weirdly this happens to me:
I have my main species as only leaders as the mods worked fine.
As soon as I modify and finish the research on another species, my main species leaders lose erudite but not cyborg.

Elaboration, leaders from all races are set to Cyborgs (should be Cyborgs and Erudites) on any race genetic update.

I love this idea a lot, and makes the game better (subscribing now).
I wonder about the brain slugs once we ascend to synthetic. Could there be a national project to implant the slugs on some animal species (possibly cloned, genetically engineered, or uplifted if you have those techs which you probably do) so that you don't extinct the species because you rose?
Also isn't WiFi like Psionics for machines? Maybe synths could keep psi.

Cool mod that I got use of, just wanted to say they're finally fixing it on patch notes for the next DLC

albeit im not sure if that included brain slug trait? Patch notes only seem to mention psionic cybernetic and erudite

I combined the traits by handing over a populated system to an assimilator machine empire, then taking it back a few years later. Not using any of the ascension combo mods.

The trait doesn't disappear from the species, just the leaders.

Did some troubleshooting for King Brick via Steam Friends and identified the cause.
Stellaris under some weird circumstance will stack overflow during parsing of the log statements.
These log statements have been commented out from the current version.

I am getting the same problem as the comment below mine, the recent update causes my game to crash as well. I narrowed it down to this mod after messing around a bit.

Your most recent update crashes my game on launch for some reason. Everything was working normally yesterday, today crash on launch. Cleared caches, unsubscribe/resubscribe, validate files, etc. Disabled this, everything loaded fine.

Just spitting facts here, Occam's Razor: The inconsistency you mention means you may be misconstruing the situation. The only event that can trigger to remove a species' Erudite trait is "remove_leader_traits_after_modification" which is generally invoked (by utopia.2508) after a modify species project completes for a country. This event does need to be patched, and it is patched by this mod...

How are you going about combining the traits?

Has the trait gone missing from the species by any chance?

May need to also check if the leader is of the correct (sub-) species - if you can somehow post a link to a copy of your save game in a discussion post, I'll check it out.

I'm using Military Uniforms, Specific Gendered Leaders, No Default Paradox Species and Known Precursors. None of them touch traits, so I doubt it's a conflict.

Another weird thing is that one general was able to level up without losing the either trait, but a few years later a bunch of governors and scientists leveled up at once from passive exp and every leader in my empire simultaneously lost erudite. This coincided with one of the governors gaining a fourth trait, so it's possible that had something to do with it as well.

There is a mod https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1762062219 "Unofficial Machine & Synthetic Empire DLC" which allows for synthetics to have "Psionic" trait. Upon taking the AP all pops get trait and all current and potential(those who are in leader pool) leaders get "Psychic" trait. But any new leader has this trait absent.
