try editing this into the 01_maa_elite_house_guards.txt file under men_at_arms_types folder.

add this just under: type = heavy infantry

house_guard = {
type = heavy_infantry
# This condition ensures recruitment is only possible with warfare_legacy_5
can_recruit = {
exists = dynasty
dynasty = {
has_dynasty_perk = warfare_legacy_5
}
}


for cavalry add just under type = heavy_cavalry

Confirming that everyone gets it at the 867 start date which makes weak vassals extremely dangerous in factions for example. Really frustrating gameplay as no matter how much more troops you have you will lose if more then one enemy is fighting you. -unsubscribed until fixed

Looks like EVERYONE gets them at the 867 startdate by default making it horribly unbalanced.

Mod has been updated to 1.2.x, PDX changed the way men at arms units were stored but its tested and should now work.

I would recommend adjusting them to be slightly better than the best MAA for their type statwise and letting you buy up their numbers like a normal MAA and adjusting price to reflect that. Say 120% the stats and 200% the price to offset the lack of upkeep. That and expanding it so each type of unit has an option.

If you want to include a siege option [combat engineers] might work. I know they used dug tunnels and primitive explosives during the later mid evil periods to take down walls and forts during sieges.

The big problem with vanilla House Guard is't that they had underwhelming stats, it was that you could not buy up their size bast level 1 and that seems to be the same problem here. I do think giving several unit type options is a good idea but the truth is even if I had unlimited gold to buy them but not maintain them and this mod active it sill wouldn't be worth grabbing these units over generic light cav. From a stats perspective 1700 light cav beat out the house guard from this mod, and because the counter mechanics are directly tied to having more MAA than the other stack to determine how effective the countering is the low numbers of the house guard make their universal counter ability super meh.

Hey I've had trouble with the mod working, I've reinstalled and tried running it alone but neither resolve the problem of the house guard not showing up.
