Actuallly, the relevant bit of code for what you describe is here:
<li Class="StorytellerCompProperties_OnOffCycle">
<category>ThreatBig</category>
<minDaysPassed>12.0</minDaysPassed>
<onDays>0.12</onDays>
<offDays>14.85</offDays>
<minSpacingDays>0.005</minSpacingDays>
"Minspacingdays" could be bumped up for sure, as well as "onDays" I will do this in the next update.
<points>
<li>0, 8.0</li>
<li>6, 2.0</li>
<li>9, 1.0</li>
<li>13, 0.35</li>
<li>17, 0.0</li>
<li>20,-1.0</li>
</points>
Basically, the first number is your colony's current population, and the 2nd number is the population "factor" that determines how many population boosting events you get. As an example, you can change it to:
<li>0, 8.0</li>
<li>6, 2.0</li>
<li>18, 1.0</li>
<li>30, 0.35</li>
<li>40, 0.0</li>
<li>50,-1.0</li>
- So the vanilla game sends more prisoners, refugees, downed people from pods and such when your colony population is low, to try and "fill up" the colony. You'll just get a few more of those events (especially very early in the game), but the buff is mild, and you don't have to accept them!
- For the Hybrid storyteller, that's correct!
- For Clustered, technically its "Cassandra but she only sends infrequent double raids instead of frequent regular raids + heavily nerfed Randy"
- Clustered Hybrid raids often end up fighting each other, so that makes it "easier." On the other hand, sometimes they don't, which makes those infrequenty situations harder.
Also, would you sum up hybrid as pheobe+nerfed frequency randy and clustered as cassandra+some double raids+nerfed frequency randy?
From my perspective, as a newer player, it looks like hybrid is just an easier version of clustered hybrid, right?
Right, done.
The Hybrid Storytellers are a bit different because Randy is running in the background, hence the event density will vary more depending on the Randy RNG.
(Also I intend to update this when I start testing other mods in 1.4).
i got constant mechanoid raids of size that resembles fun to loose cassandra (but on steroids). the mechanoids attack was the size of 4 centipedes, 2 thermites, 15 lancers and 17 scythers. i did tried to replicate that raid with "fun to loose cassandra" and i had to use 7500 points to get as close to that raid that i was sent around 3 times within one in game week "adventure story" cassandra and randy hybrid. also some quests were absolutely brutal aswel (sometimes multiple raids of the same size [same units] spawned to "asking for help - join you" quest.
i mean. i cannot say it wasn't challenging and somewhat fun. but you will not last too long.
I will push a small change to try and mitigate it.
Updated to 1.3. Custom storytellers are now in line with the 1.3 storytellers but otherwise unchanged, DDS textures were added.
I will probably make some adjustments as I play, once I get a stable mod loadout.
