Either way still doesn't excuse how fucking terrible the in game search and creation is
heres what i gathered about the pros and cons
pros:
- multi platform
cons:
- no longer updated
- often confusing
- half functional searching
- hides available content until after purchase
- slower downloads
- no user feedback
I hate they said "privacy" and "convenience" as if you want privacy on the steam workshop, set your item to friends-only or hidden. If you want convenience, steam workshop is FAR more convenient!
and to nitpick, for the image to say "rapidly-growing" is also a complete lie since the game has been dead for 2 years.
and for a complete different nitpick, adding remote play was stupid as the game has no controller support, so everyone has to take control of your mouse and wait their turn to move it, its really lazy and difficult. To say it has any coop capabilities (remote play implies coop) is a lie.
Advantages of In-Game Add-ons in Popup Dungeon:
Seamless Integration: In-game add-ons seamlessly integrate within the game's framework, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted user experience. Unlike external platforms like Steam Workshop, in-game add-ons eliminate the need for players to navigate away from the game, enhancing accessibility and convenience.
Enhanced Customization: The in-game add-on functionality in Popup Dungeon empowers users to create and modify intricate gameplay elements, including characters, items, and environments, with a greater degree of customization and creative control. This direct and integrated approach fosters a more immersive and tailored gaming experience.
I'll just uninstall.
The dev could have done both. Having an in-build mod download system for those don't use steam, and have workshop support. Both Amazing Cultivation Simulator, and From Jianghu done it for their game. And there's really no excuse not to do it, when two Indie Chinese team managed to code something like this since Mainland China (both the state and private sector) is notoriously hostile towards things like comic and game industries.
The dev (BEEP)ed up, and shot their own system in the foot when they dropped workshop support.
So they had a content browser inside the game without Steam.
This "mod" is just a hook to link the in-game browser to include a second DB hosted on the Workshop.
The "content control" is for flagging mature content because it is SUPER easy to upload images that aren't appropriate.
Go to options to turn on mature content to see more options. You can also toggle and option (default off) that allows you to vote down voted content. Which is how the game keeps bad content hidden. So if you see a character that does not function, down vote to hide it.
Having a massive backlog of player characters is cool, but not when you can only see "Whatever the community published this week".
I cannot understand why the devs would go out of their way to make the game worse. Like, actively and deliberately put in EXTRA WORK to make the game WORSE for end users. It's nonsense.
The Ingame Mod thing is hard to look around, i cant even search for mods from same devs and have to manully either try out the names of my fav chars or just sit myself through all sites.
also i like to have the option to look up mods before i buy a game. having cool mods can be a reason to buy it (even more).
Got the game through humble bundle, btw.
