Capt Jack Doicy 17 May, 2015 @ 3:33am
why have you removed the link between winter fuel subsidies and the elderly? this is a policy particularly targeted at the over 65s.
why do strike handgun laws increase general crime? this runs counter to international evidence
tman4lom 18 Feb, 2015 @ 3:03pm
"Changed the link between productivity and unemployment so that high unemployment reduces productivity instead of increasing it. Must have been a little mistake by the game developers." They did not make a mistake; that is linked. Higher unemployment causes increased productivity in workers. Less workers in the same company, same jobs still have to be done, so workers have to work harder. Also higher demand for work (unemployed) and low supply of jobs means you're going to work harder to keep the job you have because otherwise the boss can fire you and easily replace you.

Great mod overall though! I like the increased challenge.
Supremereader 15 Feb, 2015 @ 7:41am
LeCruFU, jsut press ESC.

After a brief period of playing around with this mod I think that it is, in fact, mostly very very very good, makes it so I can actually finish 25 years straight in office without achieving a perfect utopia however, I think you need to implement some way of getting the Job Segregation thing down, I haven't a clue how.
Also in regards to the work shortage, immigration and stuff I think you need to do a little refining as well as a couple of variables e.g. Manual Labour Jobs, Educated Jobs etc... it could do with significant improvement (however you've already done a great job on it).
9/10 would reccomend this mod.

This mode looks great! I really want to test it but it does not work: I am a subscriber but do not appear in my mods, could someone help me! (Excuse me if English is not correct, I'm French!)
Garynt99 30 Jul, 2014 @ 12:49am
You should update this mod. I already have the sex education mod, Punitive Wealth Tax comes with Extremism. Im sure Tourism advertising, comes with Social Engineering. And I think the "American Debt" is changed in Social Engineering or Extremenism
blitzthedragon 26 Jul, 2014 @ 5:04pm
Hmm, I think the reason that productivity is lowered by low unemployment is because the low unemployment makes workers harder to replace, giving workers more bargaining power and lessening employers' ability to make their employees work harder for no extra pay.
ChimiChingus: HumongusChongus 14 Jun, 2014 @ 4:25pm
Does not work for USA, I havint tried other countrys.
Théophane 1er 9 Jun, 2014 @ 3:31am

Also is the mod compatible with the DLC / other mods?

How compatible is this mod with the LGBTQ Rights Policies, the New Policies, and the More Policies mods?

I cant seem to install this mod. Can anyone help?
Didicet 14 May, 2014 @ 10:52pm
Your mod is causing some "neural effect" error for me.
mat_stafford 25 Apr, 2014 @ 1:31pm
Well-intentioned mod, but I have an issue with the minimum wage. The minimum wage, along with severence pay, is far too over-powered: its advantages are too worthwhile compared to its disadvantages. Recently, in America, there has been talk of raising the minimum wage. The CBO offers statistics as to what would happen if the minimum wage was raised: around half a million Americans would lose their jobs (increase to unemployment-- missing from the mod) and get 900,000 Americans out of poverty (decrease in poverty-- present in the mod). The poverty decrease is quite considerable even in the mod, so remember that at least 55% (5/9) of the poverty decrease effect must be represented in the unemployment increase. Also, a minimum wage hike would kill small businesses (local shops, mom-and-pop stores etc) effectively shrinking the GDP. Higher minimum wage = lower GDP, higher unemployment, lower poverty. The rest seems correct. Thank you for this mod by the way!
Batesy boys 2 Mar, 2014 @ 10:32am
you failed.... i was able to have as a socialist society:

low unemployment
complete control of the votes
stable economy
guaranteed income
great foreign relations
no crime
a green country
healthy people
high productivity
and...wait for it, high reserves.

thank you for trying and i hope to see your next attempt at the challenge of defeating the socialist player
joaom_castro 1 Mar, 2014 @ 7:25pm
love this mod! Please keep updating new stuff
Winther  [author] 25 Feb, 2014 @ 11:27am
Legalising drugs reduces organised crime because if drugs are outlawed, crime organizations distribute narcotics illegally.

Kind of the same with the guns. If guns are outlawed, people will still obtain guns somehow, but because of the strict laws it will be considered illegal and criminal.

Yes, and I agree that free school meals should have an impact on poverty. But not as much as in the base game, both because of realism and because of game balance. It's a very cheap policy economically. Maybe I can make it improve education slightly? I also find it a bit weird that it increases the number of parents in the country. People don't decide to have children because their local school has free school meals...
Capt Jack Doicy 24 Feb, 2014 @ 4:39pm
Why does legalising drugs strengthen organised crime? surely just like with prohibition legalising it would remove their major source of revenue.

Why do strict handgun laws increase crime? that seems nonsensical.

Regarding the free school meals I believe it is because studies show they disproportionately improve learning ability as well as general well being which has massive effects on social mobility
Guidrion 16 Feb, 2014 @ 7:19am
Gun-related situations are also important. Private milicia or bloody gang wars (caused by high gun usage (illegal or legal) and the three gang situations: foreign crime organization, street gangs and organized crime).

It's like managing a gunpowder warehouse. Dangerous, delicate and impredictible.
Guidrion 16 Feb, 2014 @ 7:19am
Also, using state services to tackle the gun problem costs money and with the increased complexity of the game, keeping a budgetary balance can become very tricky if you try to do everything through the state.

There are other ways than simply think about the whole thing in terms of repression/liberalization. Perhaps hunting regulation (patriots/farmers vs environmentalists), gun advertising regulations (capitalists vs parents), shooting sport regulation and collection weapons regulation (you can ban them or allow them if rendered unusable). The other way around, there are other policies such as the mandatory gun in Switzerland due to conscription (all able bodies must maintain a gun in their home) or gun industry-related policies (nationalization, controls, subsidies, prohibition). Belgium bans guns but is the only actionnary of the FN Herstal.
Guidrion 16 Feb, 2014 @ 7:19am
It shouldn't be possible to completely eradicate the illegal gun problems but gun ban doesn't necessarily produce a huge amount of illegal gun crimes. Perhaps crime could impact illegal gun usage? Market-wise, high criminality, foreign crime organisation and/or organized crime make for a large buyer group. If crime is very low, there aren't as many buyers. Your modifications already make for a simulation of the logical increase of crime due to trafic. The same way alcohol prohibition doesn't have the same effect. Compare the US where prohibition was a complete disaster with Saudi arabia where it's not as much a problem.
Banning guns in a high-crime situation and gun culture will cause problems. Banning guns in a country where gun usage isn't important to start with won't fall into frantic illegal gun usage. It's the case in Belgium.
Winther  [author] 16 Feb, 2014 @ 5:50am
Yeah, I'm not perfectly happy with the gun situation. You can reduce illegal gun usage by funding the intelligence service, but I might want to add a new policy explicitly for firearms regulations. But I have to be careful so I don't mess up the game balance, because it shouldn't be possible to get rid of all the guns. If you criminalize gun ownership and pump money into intelligence services, there will still be guns in your country.

I have also noticed that I promote a very liberal path. Legal gun usage is far superior to illegal, so there's not really any reason not to legalize all guns. I'm not sure how, but I need to do some changes so penalize legalization. Maybe a crisis that dramatically increases different types of crime and reduces life expectancy will occur if the total number of guns circulating in your country is too high.

Illegal gun usage does increase violent crime though.
Guidrion 15 Feb, 2014 @ 6:40pm
I really liked this new update. The gun tax was a very unexpected addition and a very satisfying one! If I can't ban it, I'll squeeze money out of it! But, shouldn't illegal gun ownership affect violent crime? And shouldn't there be some more way to tackle illegal gun ownership? Maybe some kind of Special task force? Maybe like the ATF?
Third Republic 10 Feb, 2014 @ 3:45pm
When i play as the US i get 'Invalid neural function Sim_Neuraleffect.cpp 128' and a crash.
warnor 10 Feb, 2014 @ 11:28am
Shouldn't the Free Parenting Classes policy from the new DLC increase birth rate? This would also add another policy that can help fight the Elderly Wave situation.
Winther  [author] 8 Feb, 2014 @ 10:31am
Carbon Tax does effect GDP exponentially, and pretty dramatically. It also hurts the everyone group, which is pretty devastating for your elections. However, after thinking through it a little, I feel like carbon tax should piss off capitalists more, as this tax would mostly hurt industries. Maybe it can also reduce the productivity? Doubt I'm going to do any other changes though...
magnus_orion 8 Feb, 2014 @ 9:57am
Sorry, carbon tax should probably effect GDP nonlinearly and more dramatically.
Winther  [author] 8 Feb, 2014 @ 5:41am
Ultimate Game Balance has been updated to V 1.2! The biggest change in this update is the gun usage. I’ve added two new statistics: Legal Gun Usage and Illegal Gun Usage. Legal firearms make liberals and patriots happy, and upset parents a little and decreases life expectancy a little. Illegal guns, however, will cause more deaths and make people more upset. I have also added a new policy called Firearms Tax. Finally, a minor crisis called Slothful Youth has been added, and some minor balance adjustments have been made. For a full list of changes, see changelog.

Again, if you have any suggestions, please let me know :)
Winther  [author] 8 Feb, 2014 @ 4:21am
@Tarkovskij: Hahah, yeah I've played this game more than 200 hours :P If you think the game is hard enough you don't need this mod.
Winther  [author] 8 Feb, 2014 @ 2:14am
@Rarity: How do you suggest I change the carbon tax? It already hurts GDP a little, and I'm not sure what other changes I can do.

@ExTrAhOtNaChOs (best name ever): Worker Shortage occurs when you have basically no unemployment. To not trigger this event you need to balance the unemployment level. Immigration is one of many ways to tweak unemployment. But Worker Shortage isn't really that much of a problem. That has been one of the goals of this mod - to make it more difficult to get rid of all problems. Some problems, such as General Strike and Street Gangs, can be quite damaging and are crises you need to get rid of as soon as possible. Other problems, such as Worker Shortage and Pollution, are problems you can live with. In reality, no country is entirely without crises and political issues.
Josephi Krakowski 8 Feb, 2014 @ 1:39am
I allways have a worker shortage proble because my unemploymant is allways very low
how do I deal with that?
do I accept more immigrants? but then ill get ''Job Market Segregation'' and way to many immigrants and problems that come with them(I usually play a ''no immigration'' policy)
plus I dont think that it even affects the shortage
can any one help? thanks.
magnus_orion 8 Feb, 2014 @ 12:57am
Carbon tax is practically broken in the main game. If this does nothing to address it it cannot balance the game effectively, in my opinion. Carbon tax basically forces innovation to increase energy efficiency, and such innovation is magically possible, resulting in a perfectly green but perfectly runnable utopia, minimizing the policy's own impact, but in the process easily cleaning up any budget deficits. I got 100% approval and whiped out my debts on my first game using this as my primary strategy. So my suggestion is to make carbon tax significantly more devastating to the economy than it currently is.
