They’re not actually just gliding—there’s an animation for it that’s being used. Plus, even if they’ve lost their legs, they still have wings to carry themselves toward you.

Antlions don’t “avoid” water, only thumpers. If the target’s close or nodes exist, they’ll path straight in—been that way since HL2. Workers only survive if yanked out instantly because CBaseEntity::WaterLevel() resets before NPCThink() applies drown damage; normally CheckWater() just runs a timer then calls TakeDamage(DMG_DROWN). No hidden “worker logic,” just a timing quirk. Forcing water exclusion means extra path cost checks every eval = wasted performance. Short answer: not gonna happen—if you want to tank your own framerate adding it in, go ahead.

well no from experience antlion workers stop drowning after a bit outside of water
and i havent seen any antlions walk into water willingly like fast headcrabs do

I can't control whether or not they choose to path into water, half-life's antlions also path to water and actively jump into it if you're nearby. Pulling them out of water does nothing, they have a death trigger in their code that actively kills them after "x" amount of time.

Though i've been more focused on a replacement lately. Since people wanted that so badly, I made a bunch of alterations to the base game antlions, new animations, events, models, etc. As well as a replacement for the antlion guard (utilizing the RTX version of it)

Very good! I'm glad it also has the AI, dismemberment feature and armor from the HL:A antlions! It would be cool to receive a HL2 style version of it, keeping those HL:A features (and probably the animations?) and keeping the HL2 model quality.
